Waqas has done several jobs for us and has always been very good, repaired the problem quickly and when he's done, it works! He's always been willing to talk about projects and make suggestions. This time, I was worried about our 10-year-old sump pump and whether the pump would be able to handle what I thought would be a huge melt after our very cold and snowy winter. So when he was here last time, I asked him to check it and he told us it was working but getting old and the floater was slow. We talked about it and he explained the options, but didn't try to steer me on what to buy.In the end, he replaced the pump and aded a backup battery and I feel very relieved. I recommend him highly!! If Mr. Rooter has other plumbers of the same high quality, I think they'd be a good bet to check out first.

I needed an adjustable bed and searched all the regular bedding places and was disappointed with the selection, prices and lack of knowledge. Then a friend recommended Adjustable Beds Plus. They only carry adjustable beds in a variety of styles and manufacturers. Michael was friendly, very knowledgeable and took care to recommend several styles that would be possible, helping me narrow down to a couple then suggested which that would be right for me. H e was absolutely right. The bed was delivered 3 days later. The men who brought it set it up efficiently and carefully. They, too, were very pleasant. I love my bed and the company it came from. I recommend them very highly.

My sofa cushions (5 of them) had softened and badly needed refilling. After checking out several companies on Homestars, I decided on Upper Canada Upholstery. Keith returned my message promptly and talked to me about the different quality of foam. The cushions were picked up the next and returned 2 days later. They are firm and comfortable and I recommend this company highly.

Water was pouring down the side of the house in the rain and I suspected a loose eavestrough. I contacted several companies on Homestars without satisfaction. Tip Top answered the phone immediately, arranged an inspection, which was done within a few days at no charge and confirmed my suspicion about the problem.. The price was reasonable and their response impressed me, so I went ahead. They came, even sooner than they had promised, did the job quickly. carefully and cleanly. I highly recommend them.

The cushions on our 10-year-old sofas needed restuffing. Robert came over and thoroughly checked out the condition of the cushions and the way we sat on the sofas. He made recommendations, then took one seat and one back cushion for a "test run". When he brought them back a few days later, we tried them out, he checked the fit and had us sitting every which way. He made suggestions about adjusting the filling and the cushions themselves. The finished job is wonderful, the seating is better than when they were new. Rob is great to work with and an obvious expert in his field.

Our dishwasher died mid-cycle. Steve came the next morning. It only took him a short while to diagnose the problem. he carries parts in his van and had the right replacement for our dishwasher. He was done in less than an hour. Steve was efficient, knowledgeable and personable. I recommend him highly.

I called Alliance for information about fixing a gouge in my floor. The man who answered spent quite a while explaining the process and why it would be expensive and time-consuming to do. I appreciate his help and willingness to not sell me on the job. If I go ahead, I will probably use this company.

We had a bunch of small jobs that needed doing and weren't complicated enough for us to hire someone who's main focus is renovation.. We were lucky to find Doug as he was transitioning from a career in building, condo and apartment renovation. He's done everything from replacing ceiling fixtures to tiling floors. For us, he fixed an erratic pot light,rebuilt a broken computer desk, replaced a faucet, and diagnosed & repaired a shower head that had stumped several plumbers. All done quickly, efficiently, and neatly. To our comfort level, he's insured and licensed. I'll be using him a lot and recommending to everyone.

Glen has been our go-to handyman for several years. We compile a list and when it has several things, we call Glen. This time it was urgent that the stove vent cover be replaced because it had been blown off in the big storm and we need it replaced before the next rain. Glen squeezed us in and came a couple of days later. While he was here, he also cleared most or current list of small jobs. Glen is good, fast and leaves everyththing cleaned up.. Also a very nice guy.

Our central vac was losing suction, so we called AMP. The serviceman took it to his shop to do a complete clean and tune-up. . He brought the vacuum back 2 days later, shiny clean and full suction restored. The motor had been clogged with dirt and dust from construction before we moved in. I'm extremely happy with the speed, thoroughness and very pleasant experience.

We had some concerns about the safety and repair of some lighting . I emailed John, he returned my call the next morning, came that afternoon! He repaired what needed fixing, checked and advised on our concerns.He was efficient and very pleasant. I'll use him again for any electrical jobs.

Once again, we had a long list of things that needed doing, like re-hanging a door, fixing a gate, replacing mountain-high pot light bulbs. Once again, Glen came over and did them all, quickly, competently and cheerfully. Glen is a man of many skills and I recommend him highly.

This is the 2nd time we've used Glen to do a bunch of jobs around the house. This time, he installed a faucet, levelled a flagstone path, fixed a broken concrete step, replaced pot lights 15 feet above the floor and several other jobs. Glen works quickly and carefully, and he does good work. He arrives on time and cleans up afterwards. And he's a nice guy, to boot. We recommend him highly.

We had accumulated a lot of small jobs around the house. Glenn did them all -- a great job and in a short time. He even fixed the fence gate that the installers hadn't been able to solve in 3 tries. We are now accumulating another job list for him.

I called Reliable Home Service for a spring check-up of my furnace and central air. Walt was on time, efficient and personable. He didn't mind my looking over his shoulder and asking questions. I will use them every year from now on and would call them for any emergencies (Which I hope is Never, never necessary!)

We needed some improvements to the kitchen in our new house. It needed better lighting and a backsplash. Robbie came to look it over and gave us some good ideas and arranged to do the job. He came when he said he would, got the job done when he said he would and left the kitchen clean when he finished. And of course the results were terrific. I'll hire Robbie again and am already compiling a list of things for him to do.

The garage opener chain broke free. I called Steve, based on the reviews here on Homestars and he came when promised and fixed the problem for a very reasonable price. When it broke again two days later, Steve came within an hour of my calling him. Turned out to be a different cause from the first time. Steve then went over the opener carefully and found 2 other components that would have broken sooner or later. The builder who installed the opener had really botched the job. Steve didn't charge for the second visit.

We needed a backyard fence but weren't exactly sure what we wanted. Alex worked with us to figure it out, patiently put up with us through several changes of mind, and when we finally reached a decision, did a great job on schedule and on time. His quote was lower than other contractors we had contacted, but his work was high quality. He went more than the extra mile and the fence is lovely and exactly what we wanted. We recommend him highly.

Doug Harding has been our plumber for at least 10 years. In all that time, he has always been there when we needed him, whether for emergencies or pre-planned projects. His work is excellent, his advice pertinent and frank. His standards are high and he never uses products that are less than the best for the project. Neither does he recommend products or service that are too expensive than the job needs. As 2 people who are anything but DIY-ers, we need to rely on service people who have proved themselves trustworthy, reliable and excellent. Doug is all that. How much better recommendation can you get than from people who have used the same plumber with confidence and respect for more than a decade.

I went downstairs to do some laundry at 4:30 the day before Good Friday and found the laundry flooded. Something had gone wrong with the sump pump. We had just moved into the house a couple of months ago, so I called the builder, but just got his voice mail, Called our regular plumber (Harding Plumbing who is very good) but just got his answering service. i assumed everyone was gone for the weekend. I looked on Homestars and found ExpressRooter . They had a plumber here in about half an hour. He drained the sump pit down enough to see what was wrong and fixed it right away. He found the other places where ground water had seeped in and helped clean it all up while the sump pit was draining. Meanwhile our regular plumber got back to me -- he'd been in a meeting where his phone had to be off -- and when I told him that ExpressRooter was here, he said they were very good. If I hadn't already have used Harding Plumbing with great satisfaction for years, I'd make ExpressRooter my regular plumber. As it is, they'll be my main backup. Very nice to work with, very conscientious and worked quickly.

Dan was a delight to deal with. He arrived on time, was happy to do the collection of odd jobs we'd amassed and made helpful suggestions. He worked efficiently and carefully and didn't mind our "helpful" Cavalier King Charles Spaniels cheering him up as he worked. I'd have given him a 10 rating just for all that, but the next day, when we had an emergency plumbing problem, i called him in a panic and he returned my call really quickly. His van was in for repair, but he said if we couldn't get someone, he'd find a way to get here and help. The only problem with Dan is that because he has such high recommendations, he's booked up well in advance.
