The brick to my chimney has been disintegrating for the past few years and I decided it needed to be repaired before it collapsed. I called 3 different masonry companies to get an estimate. Avenue Road Masonry responded to my request for an estimate reasonably quickly. Robert was the gentleman who came by and provided the quote. I found their price to be very reasonable but I had a few questions about the quote. I spoke with Robert and he answered all my questions about what needed to be done. I asked him if he actually went up to the roof to examine the chimney as I felt there was more damage than what he quoted on. He said he would come back and send a drone to inspect more carefully and show me photographs. Once the drone went up it confirmed that his estimate on the work that needed to be done was accurate and I was relieved to find out that the chimney did not have to be rebuilt from the roofline up. Once I agreed to the price, Robert was able to send over Altin as soon as the weather warmed up. Altin and his partner worked quickly and efficiently, answered all my questions, comp[leted the job in the same day and cleaned up everything. They were careful also in covering up my pool equipment to make sure it would not get damaged. Before leaving, Altin went over everything with me to make sure I was happy. Robert also called me back to make sure I was happy with the job. Overall, very pleased with the job done, happy about the price and the brick matched up very well to the existing brick. Would highly recommend for brick work. Job well done and very professional.

This is a long-overdue review. Our project was completed at the end of October 2020 but unfortunately, I got sick and was not able to write a review at completion time. So here we are. My wife & I wanted to redo our master bathroom, our powder room & our laundry room. Our home was built in 1988 and we are the 3rd owners. Over the years we have renovated areas but we were saving up to do these 3 areas. In our master bathroom, I always wanted to install a sauna & that was part of our dream bathroom. In June of 2020, I called in 5 different contractors to provide quotes for the work. The last company we called was The Home Improvement People. We met with Elia, who is very personable and I liked him almost immediately. While the quote Elia provided to me was not the most expensive, it was also not the cheapest. What I also liked about their company was that they included the services of a designer/decorator, Charlotte, which saved us a lot of running around and time. We reviewed our drawings and ideas with Charlotte and after several meetings with Charlotte, we finally had our concept in a rendering complete with pricing, which fit into our budget. I would also like to say that Elia allowed us the opportunity to work with Charlotte before we made any commitment in order to see if our concept would fit into our budget. Elia arranged for a dedicated crew of 3 to 4 people to work on our project. The head of the crew was Nadia. I can't speak highly enough of Nadia and her crew. Nadia is very skilled professional and this included her crew. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable but before anything was started, she went over it with me, checked to make sure I was happy with placements, angles, how the tiles would be put down, how the cedar planking for the sauna would be installed etc. Nothing was done until she was absolutely sure I was happy & it was exactly how I wanted it. The end result speaks for itself in all 3 areas of work. At the end of each work day, Nadia would discuss with me what would be done the following day and approximately what time they would show up for work. While there were a few hiccups, the job was completed more or less within the time frame I had in mind. The best part about the overall renovation was that at the end of each day, without even asking, Nadia cleaned up any mess that was made and made sure we did not have to deal with this. At the start of each day, runners were put down to keep dust and dirt to a minimum and plastic sheeting was put up to seal off areas that dust could spread. Our powder room consisted of a pedestal sink, a mirror and a toilet. We gutted the whole thing and changed the flooring, added a backsplash and a new sink and vanity complete with new mirror and light fixtures. Stunning. Our laundry room was completely unworkable. We had a laundry tub in the wrong location. The washing machine was next to the tub & the dryer was on a completely different wall preventing us from using our back garage door to access the garage. The new look relocated the tub (including a dog wash) to the front of the laundry room, allowing us to move the washer & dryer side by side. We replaced all the vanities, added a backsplash, new lighting fixture & a corner cabinet for more shelf space and we can now go in and out of our garage door without any restriction. I can't say enough about the job done. From Elia who made sure that we had a great crew, to Charlotte who helped with the design, choosing of materials and colours and ordering the same, to Nadia and crew who did an unbelievable job with the reno and making us happy and to Gerhardt for overseeing everything, we were extremely pleased with the outcome. I would not hesitate to use The Home Improvement People in the future as we still have 2 more bathrooms and a hallway to reno. A few weeks ago I upgraded my Rogers to Ignite. I connected everything as instructed and when I went to test out the Ignite tv, I wasn't able to get sound. I have a Panasonic Vierra tv & a Bose surround system. I recognized that the sound issue was due to an incompatibility between Bose & Rogers. I decided to look on Homestars for an audio/video installer and came across David's Audio & Video Installations. I read some of the reviews and felt that this was the guy. I called David & he called me back. Immediately upon talking with him, I felt at ease and knew he knew what he was talking about. We made an appointment for David to come over. Upon his arrival, David identified the problem. He did not try to upsell me on any equipment, even though I was prepared to upgrade the Bose entertainment system if the problem could not be resolved. I told David that I liked the functionality of my equipment and he knew exactly what the solution would be. First, he cleaned up all the exposed wiring and removed things I no longer needed. Then he told me the solution to my problem would be a 4 way HDMI switcher with optical audio out. David's supplier could not supply the necessary part, due to a shortage. I asked David to identify exactly what I needed and that I would source out the part. After doing some research, I found what I was looking for, showed David to make sure this is what he required, and ordered it. The part came within a few days and David came by the house after I called and told him the part arrived. Everything now works to my satisfaction with great audio and video. There are no more unsightly wires and I am excited to have my man cave back. I have to say working with David was a pleasure. He is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He returns calls & responds to emails and more importantly does not attempt to upsell you on equipment you don't need even though I was prepared to purchase a new entertainment system. He is very reasonably priced and I would not hesitate to use him again or recommend his services to any of my friends. Thank you David for getting everything functioning again.

I purchased a motorized raft from Pool Supplies. I received the original order within 3 days of placing it. Fast!, especially with all the delays during Covid. In less than 2 weeks one of the motors stopped working. I contacted Pool Supplies by email. In less than 24 hours they asked what I wanted to do, i.e. refund, return or replacement. I told them I wanted a replacement and all they asked for was pictures to check the condition of the product. In less than a day, I received another email with a prepaid, shipping label and confirmation that my new product was on its way. In less than than 4 days from reporting the problem, I received a new product. Fast response, great service and great place to purchase products for your pool needs. hat's how you run a business!!!

Our pool patio for the last 13 years needed to be leveled off as it had settled and became uneven in places over the years. We wanted to reuse the interlock pavers we had as they were in good shape and looked good in our backyard. I contacted 3 companies for quotes. I was most impressed by Iberia Landscape as Chris Altuna was willing to work with me in using my existing stones. He came on time as promised and put a very attractive price together. He started the job exactly on the date he promised and his crew spent 5 days lifting each and every stone, cleaning the stones, adding base wherever necessary and releveling the entire patio. They cleaned up well and left my yard spotless and the work done was excellent and as promised. Our patio has been reinvigorated and looks as new as the day it was first done. Thank you Chris and crew for a job well done. I would most certainly use you again and recommend you to anyone.

I contacted Alex of Award Plus Plumbing on Friday January 5 2018. After discussing my problem of a newly installed leaky insinkerator, we made arrangements for him to come over the next day on Saturday morning January 6 2018. When he arrived he spent at least an hour re-installing the new unit but it still leaked. It was determined that the unit was defective. Alex went out of his way to go pick up a brand new unit, bring it back & install it all at the same time so that we would not have to continue being unable to use our sink. He was very professional, reasonably priced and very clean. Extremely pleased with the job done & the end result.

Was looking for a specific screen door to access our backyard. We have 2 dogs that go in and out of our backyard door. When outside we like to leave the door open. We were introduced to Vista One Retractable Screen Doors by another door manufacturer. I contacted Doug Clapp who came over to the house. He showed me the different screen doors the company offers & I chose the door that best suited what our needs were for the dogs & ease of access. The door is very simple in design & is perfect for what I wanted. Ease of access in & out, convenience for the dogs, ability to maximize fresh air without being disturbed by pests & the ability to keep our new backyard door uncovered & visible. Doug is very knowledgeable & friendly. Answered all questions & came back & did a quick installation. Very pleased with the outcome & would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a simple, smart & convenient solution for a screen door.

We decided we were replacing our outside front & rear doors. I called a couple of companies & Home Décor was recommended to us by a friend. We called Home Décor. Joe Gerring promptly returned my call & we made arrangements. I will say I have dealt with many sales people but Joe is the consummate professional. Personable, friendly, knowledgeable, a real gentleman. We went through the lineup of doors & I found exactly what I wanted. All my questions were well answered from beginning to end the process was easy. We visited Home Decor's showroom and saw the entire operation and my wife & I were very pleased that we were going to get a secure, quality product. We were given a date for installation and that date was honoured. We got a very professional installation done the way we wanted and on time. The install crew were very courteous and clean and everything was completed on time & very professionally. We have a great looking entranceway now & a great back door. The quality of the finish & hardware used was exactly as described & we have two very secure entranceways to our house. In addition to looking great, it also adds value to our house. Thank you Joe & Home Décor for a great job and 2 very pleased customers.

My wife had been asking me to enhance our front entranceway. After a rough winter and seeing the bricks on the side of my house crumbling, I decided it was time to take action. I called 4 different masonry companies researched on Homestars. 3 of the 4 companies came back to me with estimates starting from $25K to $40K, all well out of my budget. I called Daryl (DJ Mason) who came by the house at the designated time and quoted me literally thousands of dollars below the lowest quote & more or less in line with my budget. The scope of work was to chip out the damaged brick, insert concrete block & parge, reuse & relay the existing interlocking stone for the entrance, replacing some damaged block & lay down stone on the front porch. Daryl said to leave it up to him to find the right colours and I did. He could not have found a better colour to match up everything than if he built the house himself. During the course of the repair & reno, he told me he thought he could get new interlocking that would match up with my existing driveway & to leave him with the decision to do something other than parge the new block as he wanted the entrance to look attractive. Not only did he find once again find the perfect interlocking stone for us but the way he chipped out the stone used on the porch to fit under the brick was pure genius. Because he was doing such an amazing job and things were looking really good, I made another change & told him I did not want to use the existing block for steps but we would pick out new rock for the stairs. So we found a great match to everything and for a few thousand dollars more than originally planned on, we have a gorgeous entranceway as you can see from the pictures. Not only was Daryl's price so extremely reasonable, he was extremely easy to work with, helpful, courteous, meticulous and a true craftsman. I would highly recommend this man to anyone who is looking for a knowledgeable and skilled professional. He is more than fair and reasonable and will leave behind work that all who see will have nothing but positive comments to make. I definitely would have no problem asking him to come back for other projects.

Needed to replace both of my old wooden garage doors with 2 new garage doors that were insulated. Contacted Dodds who had a garage door sale on. The salesperson was knowledgeable & very helpful. He explained all aspects of the work to be done carefully & completely. After being satisfied with the price and product, I gave the job to Dodds Doors. I was sent an email giving me the date of the installation & asked if it was satisfactory & if so to confirm, which I did. On the date of the installation, June 6th 2014 and at the time the job was supposed to start, a young man by the name of Jeremy introduced himself, explained the scope of work & the approximate time it would take and then commenced. The job was completed on time, all the hardware was replaced with new hardware. Jeremy even swept up the garage as he removed all the debris, old hardware and the old rotted garage doors. The job was completed as promised and the doors look great. Would I use Dodds again....hell ya!! Would I recommend them....hell ya! Now a day, if you get what you paid for and that company providing the service goes above & beyond to take care of you & make you feel special...well that's extremely important to me. Great job guys & thank you Jeremy...you are amazing!!!
