Michael showed up on time, answered all calls and his team cleaned up and did good work. There were a few deficiencies and Michael had them come back and fix up, no extra charge or hassle. Very reliable and would recommend. All our neighbours took his number when they saw how much improved our brick looked!

Found Mark through a random internet search. He happened to be passing by my area and came to quote me right away. Quote was very competitive. Provided an affordable, beautiful, high quality solution for my shower in a low ceiling basement bathroom renovation in 100 year old home. Installation was quick, hardware and accessories top notch and modern to match my existing design. Had a minor caulking issue and Mark sent his helper the next day to redo. Very satisfied.

Highly recommended. Friend who had used Mel Ing and his team referred us and we had a great experience. Mel worked with my budget, my deadlines, and used my exisiting rads to make a new living space for us in my 100 year old basement. Gave me great value (quote was $1000 under G Force's) and honest advice without any upselling. Fit me in on short notice on both service visits. Addressed minor issues and and inquiries promptly. Very professional and clean work. Would definitely use again with full confidence.

Hi Mimi. Thank you very much for recommending us so highly. We're glad that we could help you with your basement and make it cozy and comfortable. We look forward to working with you again in the future. We wish you a warm winter. Thank you and Be Comfortable.

They did what no one else could do! Gave me a metal security door with venting door light (ie a 1/2 height window that you can slide open with a little screen) for my tiny basement door opening, within my budget. They communicated problems clearly, i.e. ordering a month before Xmas means their suppliers may not be able to deliver my custom supplies quickly. They were right, took 2 months to get my door done due to Xmas slow down, which was a drag and made for a chilly laundry room this winter. Now I have to figure out how to install it during the deep freeze! But the door is exactly what I requested... and several others told me it would be either triple the price or completely not possible to manufacture. Worth a visit!

Searched high and low for an practical and affordable carpet solution for reno of a 100 year old icky basement. Home Depot actually REFUSED to do the job. My solid fave local carpet store was double my budget. Louey at A1 carpet listened and provided what I needed as close to my budget as possible. He was courteous and pleasant to work with. I requested a certain colour family and he brought samples to my house. He was a clear communicator and provided great solutions for problem areas. EG. basement concrete floor does not meet the wall at 90 degrees due to weeping tile. Louey bound the edge of the carpet along this section and glued it down, no extra charge. My problem is now beautiful. Would use Louey again anytime. Highly recommended!

Introduced to Jomar by my electrician. Andrew is the man to see in here, most of the front desk staff are not electricians, but Andrew knows his stuff. They can help solve any electrical dilemmas in your home. Example: my basement stairway had no room for any lights, but I wanted to downlight the stairs. They custom made me an led rope light to add under the handrail area and voila, problem solved for under $30. Doesn't look like much from the outside, and entry is hidden across from the gas station, but the place is buzzing inside. Don't be afraid to ask "stupid" questions, they are very helpful!

Searching for river stone tiles for shower floor on the internet lead me to visit this shop during a big 40% off sale. Great prices and savings. Service so-so. Informed me after purchase that they did not have my whole order in stock and would bring it in for me to pick up the following day. They did not do so and I had to drive to their Mississauga location to pick up the rest of the order myself. Waste of time and gas... maybe indifference is what you get when you buy at a discount? Prices are definitely reasonable, selection just ok, service lacking.

Great showroom. Beautiful selection and responsive service. Purchased light aqua ceramic subway tile for basement shower (bathroom reno). Looked far and wide did not find anything remotely similar anywhere else. Reasonable prices and lots of clearance/sale stock. Can borrow samples for $5 (refundable). Much friendlier than staff at Saltillo or Stone Tile down the road, though all have slightly different focus/selection. Worth checking out for anyone thinking of bathroom/kitchen ideas.

Daniel and crew delivered what they promised. Prompt communication and reasonable prices (got a lot of quotes and these guys gave me what I asked, good value, no frills). My 100 year old basement is now livable. Bye bye to drafts and dankness. It's Dec and we don't have heat turned on at all down there and have been totally comfy painting down there. Team showed up on time, finished on time, and cleaned up all their own mess. Great service!

We are in the neighbourhood and have bought everything from bathroom tiles to hardwood to area rugs to carpeting to coco mat from Pollock's in the last 12 years. Superb service, installation, etc. The whole family is there and they treat you like family too. They will always alert you to deals if there are any, which I LOVE. I'm a bargain shopper and have comparison priced and these guys come out on top for quality and value every time. This is not IKEA or Home Depot shoddy workmanship rubbisih. They have the real deal in stock on the floor and will take time to help you make the right choice. Look for their yearly anniversary sale after New Year's, always great deals then!

Easy shopping for those who get overwhelmed. Lee Valley pre-vets all stock and chooses the best, most practical, solid quality stuff. Showroom is fascinating and it's like an old world home handywork fetish experience. Endless cool stuff that you can't get elsewhere, especially tools and gardening gear. But for our kitchen, they had competitive pricing on great quality garbage can pullouts and drawer/cabinet hardware. Everything is in stock and if it isn't, they tell you the real deal on when it will be ready for you. Great service, old fashioned in the best sense. Solidly waspy and reliable. Ultimate Canadian retail experience. TIP: buy and pre-pay online. They will give you a pick up time, and all you do is go to front of the line with your receipt and you are outta there in a flash (even before the green hornet writes up your parking ticket for stopping illegally on King St W). This is a killer idea for Xmas as the Rosedalers show up in droves and the lines move but are excruciatingly long. VIP service!

It's my own darn fault for buying weird foreign appliances that no one can seem to service, but Allen trembled at the sight of my Fisher and Paykels. I'm sure he can do fine work on standard stuff, but should probably leave the premium brands off of his kijiji ad as he literally broke out into a cold sweat upon seeing what was in my kitchen. I think we both agreed he shouldn't have taken my call and to his credit, I did get a refund from him when he abondoned ship.

Have reno'd two baths in our 100 year old home in the past 3 years and always rely on Steve at Maia Plumbing. Owner operated in the best sense of the word. Steve has super competitive pricing, top of the line brands (as well as some lower lines, but he will tell you what's good value and what's a ripoff), and is very generous with advice and words of plumbing wisdom. Solid place and we are so glad they are in our neighbourhood. All the designer bath/kitchen bling with out the snooty attitude and inflated prices. Highly recommended.

Everyone in the neighbourhood loves Pollock's Home Hardware. Local owners who love their community and know you by name. Can't beat it. They have everything you need and save me the traffic, gas and headache of driving to a generic characterless impersonal big box, ie. keep me sane. Check out their regular Paderno discounts for grate cookware deals. Leonard is the main man and he will make sure you're happy!

Have used Pollock's for carpet, tile, wood & cork flooring for all kinds of home projects over the last 10 years. They are not the cheapest, but the service and quality is consistently great. Their area rug selection is not the trendiest or the most high end, but the quality & value is super. They know their stuff, deliver and install as promised, and treat customers with respect. Watch for their anniversary sale after Xmas!

They have quite a bit of the same stuff that I was admiring at Ginger's/Summerhill Hardware but at better prices. That works for me! Ordered bronze cast front door hardware, delivered as promised. Staff were helpful, friendly, responsive to issues, patient. Would highly recommend and will shop here again.

My fave reno secret that I share with all my friends, no joke. I love their main showroom down the street, but come to the warehouse for the super bargoons. The super narrow cut black quarzite tile in my entry and around my fireplace was priced like home depot clearout and I've had endless compliments on it from day 1. Every woman that walks in my house actually gets down on the floor to have a closer look and a feel. It's like tile porn! Staff is great and knowledgeable and helpful

I've been sleeping on a Foamite Med/Firm mattress since 1999 and would buy one again in a heartbeat. They are not the cheapest, but IMHO foam beats spring coil mattresses anyday. I know lots of foam mattresses off gas and smell funny upon purchase, but these ones never gave us any problem. Salestaff were knowledgable, helpful and delivered what they promised. Have recommended lots of friends and everyone happy.

Mark G came to quote and talked the talk (2009, not 100% sure of costs as listed). Professional, personable, good advice etc. But know that he does not do the work himself. Contracted out to a capable but messy father and son team. Required supervision, tricky job in an old house so something is bound to get messed up, but after they left, my electrician noted they had done things to rad system pipes that left electrical wired wound around the system. Not great thinking. And they weren't cheap. But I hadn't found homestars yet so now I know better. Not surprised to hear they are no longer around.
