You won't find a better design and build firm to build your basement than Harmony. I had specific requirements for mold-free materials and insulation. Virtually every other contractor I discussed the project with was not interested in the labour intensive nature of providing a continuous insulation solution other than Harmony. From the initial design consultation with Diego all the way through to the implementation and build, the service was top-notch. This company builds thing the right way. At all stages, the necessary permits were pulled. Navigating the permit process with the City of Toronto was especially challenging, but Harmony worked diligently. Special thanks to Diego, Roy and the rest of the Harmony team. Diego in particular is a talented architect and designer and made many wonderful suggestions. Roy was fantastic at shepherding the build from beginning to end. The end result is superb. A basement by Harmony will truly increase the value of your home. Thanks Harmony!

I'd been looking for an exterior contractor for a while to replace my windows and siding. Often companies will do only windows or only siding, so I was thrilled when I came across CityPro's profile on Homestars and saw that they do all types of exterior work including siding and windows. Checkout their Instagram page, and you'll see that their work is outstanding. The work they do is simply beautiful. I called Dorian for a quote, and despite being busy he made the time to look at the project and provide the detailed estimate and explain how the work would be done. The great thing is that Dorian is the owner and CEO of the company, but he also does the work himself, with his crew. The work itself was done smoothly over 3 days. The entire crew worked hard and also very carefully. It's clear they take great pride in craftsmanship and attention to detail. I received many compliments on the end result for neighbours. I needed some minor window repairs due to all the heavy snowfall this past winter. Gary had done a full, window replacement for one of my neighbours, and I had his business card. He came out quickly and performed the repairs at a reasonable rate. While he was there, I asked him if could quote me for some other work. He assessed it and told me I was better off saving my money for other things. Honest and hard working.

Niall had done some quality exterior carpentry for me a year ago. So when the opportunity arose to do some interior work, he was the first carpenter I contacted. He quickly provided a quote for several options and budgets and clearly explained the work he would be doing. The work itself was done quickly and efficiently. The level of detail on the new trim and doors that he provided is fantastic. Niall also made sure to child proof the doors and locks which we appreciated. He simply took the time to do this without asking. He also saved me from making a few bad design decisions, such as mixing different materials and styles of hardware. Great service from the initial quote to the install. Patrick was quick and efficient with the quote. He was quick to point out the soffit venting on my house and suggested they would benefit from additional baffles to improve ventilation. He also convinced my to upgrade to R60 as opposed to R50, which was my original request, in order to meet the current building code requirements. Ecocomfort was also able to help out with some custom requests, regarding installing a damper to prevent drafts on my bathroom fan. The installers Kevin and Tom were professional and friendly. They were able to show me the venting in my attic while they were swapping out the bathroom fan ducts and installing the damper for me. The insulation itself was installed quickly along with more baffles to improve the attic ventilation. I'd definitely hire them again for any attic needs in the future at any other properties! I was looking for a company to replace my shingles after the 2018 wind storms. Luckily I came across a video by famous Toronto interior designer Mr. Peloso describing the process of installing a metal shingles on his own house. The metal shingles were designed and installed by a company called New Steel Roofers. So I called them up. Chris, the salesperson was knowledgeable about metal roofing products and advised on the benefits of the hidden fasteners used by the painted slate. No exposed fasteners = a more durable, water tight installation. The metal shingles are installed over the existing asphalt, which is first wrapped with a water-tight membrane. Ridge venting was also added to the roof to improve the overall ventilation. The installation was done over the winter in 2018 by an expert crew. Max did a great job co-ordinating the installation. I've had no more shingles falling off the roof since then! Thanks Max and Bruce!

I was looking for a carpenter to rebuild a set of stairs. I was having trouble getting a callbacks, as the job was fairly small. Niall called me back right away and provided a quote over the phone. The stairs were rebuilt beautifully. He stands by his work. I will hire him for any future carpentry.

I noticed my windows would drip after a heavy rain fall. I called Sarah and she explained to me what the problem was. I hired them to re-caulk my exterior windows. The technician came and worked quickly and efficiently. He was friendly and even recaulked my vents. The caulk was tooled to perfection. Who knew caulking could look so nice? The work was much better than the ugly, grey stuff the builders use. This work was done last year and I haven't had any leaks since. I'll use them again to re-caulk my garage door.

I've used Alex on several occasions to do plumbing around my house. He always arrives on time and works efficiently. He also charges reasonable rates compared to quotes I've received from other companies. The last job he did for me was replacing my old gate style water shutoff valve with a ball valve. I suppled the valve and he installed it. The most difficult part of the job was waiting for the city guy to come shut off the water at the curb stop! But Alex was able to do some other repairs in the mean time.

I was looking for a contractor to renovate my bathroom, when I came across Tapworks while driving along Kingston Road. I went in and spoke to Carlos who agreed to write up an estimate for the work and described how they would go about the work. Whereas other contractors quoted me materials like Densshield, which is a 'waterproof' drywall for the shower enclosure, Tapworks was the only company that quoted me hardie cement board. And whereas most contractors today use PEX plastic plumbing, Tapworks only uses solid copper pipes. Tapworks also supplies high-quality fixtures, which saved me the hassle of having to go to multiple outlets and assemble my own materials. Carlos was able to schedule my job ahead of time. Teo and Shawn are true craftsmen, and would show up to my house on time, do the work and clean up when the day was done. During the course of the reno, any issues were quickly resolved. Excellent customer service by all!

I needed to remove carpeting and have new flooring installation in our master bedroom. Sebastian came over and showed us what was possible with hardwood. He suggested laminate would be a durable option for our bedroom usage for my elderly father who uses a wheelchair. Once the laminate was selected, he came and installed the flooring in a day. The work was done quickly and efficiently. Scott who is the manager at Newridge was also able to arrange the installation our flooring ahead of the scheduled date, which helped my father greatly. This is a professional services company that is easy to deal with. I would recommend them and will certainly consider them for any future flooring projects.

I contacted a number of roofers for myself and my neighbour to repair missing shingles due to the windstorm. Many companies would book a date and not show up. Best Choice was recommended to me and I contacted them on Home Stars. Steven was prompt in responding and answering any questions and quoted a reasonable price. He showed up right on time during the scheduled day and efficiently repaired missing shingles for me and my neighbours.
