I have a 100+ year old house with an old cast iron metal vent sticking out of the side. Most likely it was used for some kind of wood burning stove. The inside has been disconnected so it was only serving to provide a safe and dry home to birds nests and potential entry for other rodents into the house walls. I called Sam and it didn't take him long to respond. He even gave me a quote over the phone indicating he knew exactly what it was. We scheduled a day to do the work and he showed up exactly when he said he would. He chiseled away the brick around the vent, removed, the vent, and cleaned the inside area of tons of bird nest material. He patched it up and was gone within about an hour or so. I am very happy and bye bye birds! Would recommend Sam to anyone.

We purchased a sliding shower door for a new bathroom we recently renovated. We actually went through Peel Tile in Missisauga for the purchase, but it was Doors and More that actually did the work. The mechanism is very attractive with large rollers that ride on a large diamter chrome tube. It is very smooth. They came out once the shower was tiled to take all their measurements and about 2 weeks later they came to install the shower door. It is frameless so I was a bit worried about fit and finish as there is no such thing as a straight wall. The measurements were perfect and the glass fit liek a glove. I would highly recommend Doors and More. Although I think you have to go through distributors to get their services.

I have used Res-Comm in the past and they are great to work with. Richard is very polite and has a very high standard for his own workmanshiop. We used Res-Comm to finish a section of our basement with framing, insulation, vapour barrier, and drywall. They did a great job and they did it real fast. It only took about 1 week or so. They cleaned up after themselves every day and the overall quality is very good. I would recommend Richard anytime.

Mark is a great guy to work with and he really knows what he is doing. I already had the windows and Twins installed them all for me. We had about 12 windows that had be removed and replaced with new ones and capped. They did all the work in one day and even cleaned up after themselves. They did a nice job capping too. I can't believe the difference of how little noise we hear from the street and how the temperature holds constant in the house with new windows. I would recommend Twins anytime.

I can't believe how many contractors there are for siding and eaves troughs. I looked at many companies and received quotes all over the map. Thank goodness a friend of mine recommended MJ Aluminum as a good company to work for. I felt comfortable when they arrived with their truck that had all the proper tooling for cutting, bending, forming, etc all built into the truck. They did all the work in less than one day. They are very neat and tidy as well. They cleaned up after themselves and disposed of all packaging materials they brought with them. The quality and workmanshipo is great. I would highly recommend them.

Wow is all I can say with Ozzie. I have worked with Ozzie on aother projects as well and every time I see nothing but perfection. He does a great job of finding a clean way to route wires to minimize damage to existing walls and cutting holes. He is a perfectionist when it comes to following codes and everything is done by the by the book. Our house is three floors so there is quite a lot of wiring. We replaced all wiring in the house with relocated panel. The job took about 7 days or so. I can say I sleep better at night. You can't go wrong with Ozzie.

While we were doing basement renovatiosn and the concrete floor was removed, we decided to replace the original clay drain pipes. Attilla was called in for the job and he did great work. As a plumber, I can see his attention to detail is very good. The work was completed in a timely fashion. We also added a new basement washroom. This is one area that we were very concerned with because the bathroom fixtures required specific locations and setbacks. They weren't the traditional one piece shower set. There were several components and each had it's own control. Attila did a great job locating the fixtures so there would be no problem with final assembly once the walls were in.

We looked around at several contractors to try and find a reputable one for underpinning our basement (get more headroom). Our house is 120 years old so anything can go wrong. We worked with Westmount in the past on other projects and found that his crew is very good pretty much any task. We not only lowered the basement by about 18", but we also replaced the original brick columns (24" x 24") with new steel that is only about 5" diamater. Makes the space look much more open now. The structural work went very well. The job was done in serveral phases and it took a couple of months (typical). He even waterproofed the inside basement wall using a perforated plastic membrane that dropped below the concrete floor along the edges and into a weeping tile. The weeping tile was all connected to a sump pump. I don't have any concerns with issues of water coming in from the outside. Job well done!

There are many many companies that provide replacement doors. I can certainly say that I looked around quite a bit for a reputable company (especially using Homestars). My biggest concern was that our house is 120 years old and I didn't know what was behind any of the existing framework, condition, etc. Casa Bella did an amazing job at measuing up and installing the new door without any issues at all. Finally, no more draft!!

We are in the process of selling our house and decided to get a home inspection to make it easier for the buyers to make a quick decision. I have used the "big name" guys in the past and was NOT IMPRESSED. You pay a lot of money for less work. I found Brent on the Homestars website and he had a lot of positive reviews so I decided to go with him. I was not dissapointed. He spent about 3 hours at my house going over every detail of the house. I could tell that he has a good understanding about building construction and building codes. He had no problems going up on the roof, into the attic, and under crawl spaces. He also took TONS of pictures for us and created an on line gallery that we can access. These were pictures of areas that we never see (rooftop, attic, etc). What a great service. He also provided an excellent summary that I could give to potential buyers to help them with their decision making. There are a lot of choices out there for Home Inspectors and I am happy that I chose Brent. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the kind words and review JB !!! It is truely appreciated !!! Ahhh ... to have a pre-listing inspection or to not. That is the question. In your case, probabaly works well as a sales tool. In other cases, not so well. It's amazing what people will learn about their home after they have brought me in to do a pre-listing. Things that they have lived with for years, issues that could have been easily fixed, but has caused a much bigger problems, things they never even knew existed. Always makes it interesting. I always laugh when people didn't know how to use something, never bothered to learn how, never used it, yet are amazed that they even had it! Ha! Anyways, good luck with the home, I really appreciate the review, and thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections!!!

Our house exterior was starting to look a bit dated so we decided to paint the exterior brick. We shopped around and got 4 quotes from different sources (a couple from Homestars as well). Overall, Finer Edge presented the best, was able to accomodate our needs for timing, and had a reasonable price. No matter what type of work you do these days, you always take a risk. I look at everything as part of the project, not just the work itself. Mannerisms of workers, cleanliness, respect for surroundings, and of course, the painting job itself. I am quite picky with the details (right Luigi?). I have to say that they did a great job. They took their time making sure paint didn't spill over to other areas, taped off sections, and cleaned up after every day. That's what a all contractors should do. After the job was done there were a few areas that needed to be touched up a bit and they came right back no questions asked. I would defnitely use them again and refer them as well. Thanks Guys! I don't know what the previous reviewer is talking about. I had nothing but an exceptional experience with this company. I think Maple Group also goes by Stoneworx. I made an appointment with one of their reps. They gave me a tour of the shop how they do business, let me walk through their stone slab inventory (hundreds, if not more), showed me all styles available in my price range. They even showed me styles one step down and one step up from my price range. They let me take samples home and see them in the light of my house. It was a pretty easy decision to go with this company. They sent out someone to take full measurements and he used a laser to create an exact shape of my kichen. This is important because no one has straight walls. You can either have a countertop company chip away at your walls to fit in a countertop and then use caulking to fill the holes. Or they can measure it correctly with a laser and the countertop fits snug against the wall. This is exactly what I received. The installation crew was experienced (and showed up when they said they would show up). They put down drop cloths to protect my house. The installation went very smooth. They even sealed the countertop after the install. I would definitely use them again. JB from Toronto.

I believe this company is also known as RS Homes (for the residential side of renovations). We contracted LSI/RS Homes back in September to complete a new addtiona on our home for a family room, basement rec room, and garage. Being an engineer myself I am very impressed with this company. They are very knowledgable about the construction industry and the building code. The work is just about done now and I have to say it looks great. They have kept everything within budget and the quality is exceptional. I have been through the disaster renovation and this experience was the exact opposite. I could go to work and not have to worry about what is going on at my home. The workers are all thinkers and they are very good at figuring out the best and most cost effective way to complete any task. I would certainly recommend this company to anyone looking to do any renovation.

I was given the Toronto Home Comfort name as a referral from our contractor. Our contractor has been good to us so I decided went to check them out. They have a nice, large showroom showing many styles of fireplaces. They were professional and knowledgable in the store and gave us many options to consider at the price range we were looking at. I didn't realize how big the fireplace market really is. We went with a Napolean because the style was nice, good name, and they are made in Ontario. We purchased a new fireplace which included running gas lines, cutting a hole for a vent, and fireplace installation. The day of the install the crew was courteous and professional, clean, and did a great job. They involved me at every step of the way making sure there were going to be no surprises. I would certainly go to them again.
