Do not deal with this company

I called for a simple dishwasher door repair. I should have known right away not to proceed with hiring them when they kept giving me different amounts for the work. Technician was sent out a week after initial call. Replaced cables and hinges. Next day door breaks again. This company wants me to fill out a warranty form for their head technician to review so they can decide whether or not to do the job properly! And their rude phone rep hung up on me twice. Stay away!

Poor dishwasher service

tech didn't even pull the machine out to look, it was a drainage hose that a mouse bit into, a $10 part he wanted over $200 for labour.
I kicked him out and fixed it myself for $10.00
I had to pay the $80.00 service charge for no service.
I called them to complain but it fell on deaf ears.
Avoid this company at all costs.

Bosch Range pilot light repair

Terrible experience with this company. Quoted $80 and $30/10 min . I agreed in advance of their fees as I was told it was a 10 -20 min job. Signed a contract saying any extra visit would be no charge if no parts needed (I have the replacement part so good there) and Tech starts to unscrew the plate on the range. 50 minutes later (?!) tech says he needs his superior to come a to remove this first screw with a "special tool" on another day. 10 days later (after I make all the calls for them to return) they arrive, same single tech, no superior and now says that have to charge me another $80 plus $30/10min, even though the contract we spoke about and I signed said there would be no extra charge for the extra visit. I wanted to speak to a manager to clear this up but he would not wait and left after 5 min. Weird. Very bad customer experience.. Out $$ with no fix. Dealing with their senior management now but not hopeful for a resolution.

Repair Refrigerator

My story is very similar to the ones posted. My fridge stopped cooling on Monday afternoon. When I noticed the rise in temperature, I rang them out of desperation. I normally research companies, but was occupied by other commitments. They said that a service man would be here the following day. Michael arrived on time and began working on the fridge. He said the labour had to paid upfront and would be $280 plus HST and no other labour cost would be charged. He also said that the call out fee would be waived. I agreed. As he began moving the fridge out, I told him to place felt protectors under the footings so that our new wood floor would not be scratched. He said it wasn't necessary. So, I believed him. He spent some time at the back of the fridge and said it was the inverter board that was no longer working and had to order it. As he packed up and pushed the fridge back in, I noticed he had scratched the new wooden floor terribly. He did not apologise but did acknowledge it. I paid as I said I would and didn't want any problems as I was at home alone. He called the next day with the cost of a new inverter board which was $841 and would take up to two weeks to arrive. He said no labour cost would be charged, but he did mention an installation fee accidentally. I challenged him about no other labour costs, but he had no answer. Before proceeding with it, I made a few calls about the cost of the inverter board and discovered that it was about half the price quoted by this company. I decided not to proceed with it. Also, I complained about the damage to the new wood floor and asked how the company would address this. When I finally got through to the Manager, she denied it and hung up on me. In a nutshell, this company has questionable service ethics and I absolutely do not recommend them.

MISLEADING, DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES

I called to repair a retractable downdraft vent for a KitchenAid induction cook-top. The first technician arrived and told me that he could not repair it and that it would require two technicians, because the unit needed to be removed in order to fix it. The first service call fee of $80 was waived, but I was then required prepay $380 + tax ($429.40) for the follow-up visit based on his assessment.

When the two technicians visited the next day, it took exactly 20 minutes of diagnostics for the lead technician to conclude that the electronic control board was shorted and needed to be replaced. the other technician stood around checking his phone. I was then quoted $843.56 + tax for the replacement part. He wanted me to prepay half that amount on the spot. I deferred, asking him to have someone call me with details about how long this would take to complete. I then called KitchenAid directly and found out that this replacement part is available for $402. I called The Appliance Repair Guys and cancelled any followup service call and asked for a refund of $380 (+ tax) but said that I was willing to accept paying the initial $80 service fee. So a refund of $300 + tax was acceptable. I based this on an expectation that the first technician should have been able to diagnose such a simple problem on the first visit. Had he done so, I would have paid the $80 and deferred any additional repair costs in favour of a new unit which will cost $1450, almost exactly the amount of the repair and replacement part ($1400)

The company refused to issue a credit, suggesting that I was fully aware of the conditions.

Whirlpool washer repair

Somebody from www.appliancerepairguys.ca was sent to fix the washer and I was told that the cost will be $80 to diagnose what is wrong and if I decide not to use their services I will still have to pay the $80.
The guy looked at the machine and said that the cost will be $280+Tax (without parts) and asked me to sign before starting the work and before telling me what he needs to fix. I finally paid $300 - for a 15 min work - which was to open the machine and reset the motherboard.
They know that if you loose the $80 then its going to be harder to find somebody that will charge under $200. So they ask a huge amount of money.

Stay away from Appliance Repair Guys !!!

We needed our 15 year old washing machine repaired so I called this company after finding their website. We were very explicit with our expectations: if the repair cannot be kept around $250.00, then don't do it, we'll pay the $80.00 cost for the service call and then buy a new machine.

They quoted $260.00 + tax, which we thought was close enough so we signed the work order. The guy finished the repair (so we thought), had us sign the invoice and we paid by VISA (good thing as we can lodge a dispute - the guy wanted cash and actually frowned upon taking VISA).

During the payment transaction, my wife thought she'd ask about if it was good to now operate the machine (expecting the answer to of course be yes). He said no, that the repair would cost hundreds more and would require a visit by 2 technicians another day! We called the manager later in the day to complain but that went nowhere.

The thing that upsets me is that I was at work during the service call and so the task of overseeing the repair and managing the transaction was with my wife to do. When she said she needed to phone to get my opinion on a few things, the repair guy (according to my wife) actually questioned her as to why she needed to call me and why she couldn't make decisions for herself. It appears he was trying to intimidate her into committing to carrying out the job.

We're lodging a dispute through VISA and do expect to see our money back as a result, but there are better ways to spend your day than having to deal with a situation like this. I truly can't understand how they're still in business.

WARNING - Appliance Repair Guys is a SHAM

Our dishwasher was not running properly so we called. My wife signed off on the $280 labour cost + tax and paid it when the repair guy arrived. The repair guy then said that we required an inexpensive part (a floater) and that he would be back in a few days to complete the repair.
3 days past and I decided to call for an update. They then told me that the part will cost $659 + tax. I explained that we could buy a brand new dishwasher for $500.
I then asked for some of our "labour' money back and we were told that the "labour" money is non-refundable.
I recommend staying far away from this so called "company'

Do not hire these pirates

We booked this company to fix our oven The employee was an expert in wasting time on our dime. Took him 20 minutes to remove a screw, all the while talking on the phone. Took him 1 hr and 40 minutes to replace an ignitor, for which we were charged a 400% markup. Needless to say, stove didn't work. The company's solution was to try to charge hundreds more dollars for an entirely different repair. Absolutely shameful.

LG Gas Range and Dishwasher Heating Element Service Call

Never call this Company.
Their Customer Service is worse than the Service Technician. I called last week and explained the issue I was having with gas range (2 knobs needed replacing) and that the Heating Element error on my dishwasher came up occasionally. I offered the person who took my order to take down the model numbers of my units so the technician could carry the parts and she declined.
Service Technician came in and told me the exact thing I had already knew was the issue. Wanted to do a full service of the dishwasher when there was nothing wrong. Quoted me $850 for 2 knob replacements and heating element replacement - Parts and Labour. When I asked him for line item breakup, he had no clue saying "everything is shipped together."
Spoke to CS manager Alona this morning who said it was my fault for not understanding what the order take was telling me and that everything had been clearly explained. I asked her if there was anything she could do to reduce the service charge for absolutely no service performed and she declined. Don't think they give a damn about customers or their satisfaction.
Wish I had done my homework a bit more thoroughly!
