Our pilot light wouldn't stay lit, and Ladislav came out to give us our options. It looked like the best thing to do was replace the entire tank, which he was able to do after quoting the job up front, before starting. My sincere thanks to great service technician Ladislav! He was most professional, kind and certainly a great asset to your company!
His professionalism speaks very highly as my first impression of Clearview.
I too work in the service industry and when you deal with a great role model for service it needs to commended!!!

Thanks very much, Cathy and Mark! It is always very much appreciated when someone who also works in the service industry comments about our service skills. As I've said before, while most contractors and companies look at themselves as "Plumbing and Heating techs doing Service work" we like to think of ourselves as "Service Techs, doing Plumbing and Heating work".

The customers come first, period.

tankless water heater, new basement plumbing rough-in

Did my research, company sounded good. Great reviews on this site. Had them over for an estimate and got a price for the job. Not too bad. Plan was to put in a tankless water heater, and on that visit, get them to mark where on the basement floor to jackhammer up (I was going to do this myself to save some $$).

First job day comes up, no one comes by. Apparently too many emergencies, plan for next day.
Next day, new hire (great guy) shows up and doesn't really know what to do. Plan for a week later. Ugh.
Job day. Finally. Guys are rushed. Work itself is good, but they left the old hot water tank in the backyard despite saying they'd take it away. Commented at the time they were leaving that it smelled like gas. Told it was because they bled the line and that it will go away, call if it doesn't. Open all the windows, wait. Also told that they didn't have time to mark where to jackhammer.

Still smelled a bit come evening but definitely better. Got a few hours sleep, woke up at 5AM feeling awful (headache, dizzy). Go down to the tank and do my own soap test (they apparently did their own). Bubbles galore. Call at 5AM and am told it will cost $150 to get a technician out. Frustrated, I just say "get someone here asap". 7AM rolls around, I'm walking around outside waiting. No one showing up yet. Call the office. They hadn't dispatched anyone. Guy from job the previous day (great guy) comes over and fixes the leak. I soap test it, looks ok. Worker hauled old hot water tank away in his own truck after getting upset that it wasn't already gone. Thank you!

Go away for a week. Come home to a house full of gas. Soap test again. Bubbles. Call them - they come first call and quickly this time.

Told to make appointment for the rough-in. Told that I should just rent a jackhammer for the day and that it won't be a problem. Today is job day. Worker over this morning, draws some lines on the ground and says "jackhammer here and here... Might need to do more later, but let's start with that. I'll call you in a bit to see how things are going. Going to take a few calls and come back later". That was 9AM. Finished my part by 10AM. Waiting... 2PM. Call the office - "oh, he's too busy... can he come tomorrow". Told the office that he needs to stop by tonight since I have to return the hammer in the AM or I'm out more cash for the rental. He never showed up.

The people i've dealt with are all nice, but holy crap they can't keep things together. I would not recommend these guys to anyone because while they do some reasonable work *eventually*, the frustration is just not worth it. Maybe they're too busy for their workload. I don't know. Really nice people, but I'm just a little disappointed.

Dear "G"

First of all, allow me to apologize for the less than satisfactory experience you've had with us. I do appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback and although the job is complete (finally) OUR job of making sure you're a happy customer is clearly not! As of right now, our office is going through paperwork to see if we can reach you to discuss your situation, but your anonymity is preventing a timely response. If you could call in to the office (403 216 8439), the Customer Service Manager Jesse would be more than happy to help you work through this and come to a resolution!

At the end of the day, it certainly sounds like it was a trying job, but we'd love to get the entire story and do a bit of research on our own, just to find out how such miscommunication happened. Fortunately, this is NOT the norm, otherwise there would be far more comments such as this on our page (a friendly reminder to those who say we pad this site with good reviews! We don't; Our many satisfied customers do that for us! We also do not censor our review boards in any way [I don't think you can?] and this review is proof of that!)

It should also be noted that afterhours work for every job, regardless of the situation or warranty, does require an afterhours Travel and Dispatch fee due to the limited resources of on call technicians. This is clearly stated on the invoice, as well as by on call staff. Regular business hours are Monday - Friday, 08:00 AM - 06:00 PM. Had our technician been dispatched earlier than 8:00 AM, it still would have fallen under the afterhours travel and dispatch fee we wanted to help you avoid.

Now, that being said, we are closely and carefully reviewing and revising our policies, to ensure that this does apply to any emergency situations. I do apologize for that sincerely.

Again, I apologize for the service you've received, there is no excuse for the workmanship or the scheduling and if you'll call in to the Office with your full name and address (to locate you in our customer database), I'm confident we will be able to help with the situation.

G, thank you again for your input, I hope we're able to track you down in our files and make this right for you and alleviate your disappointment; let me assure you this is certainly not the norm.

Our toilet was having drainage issues, sometimes not for two weeks, sometimes three times a day! We had Ladislav from Clearview out to service the toilet and he was excellent! He made sure he kept us up to date and in the loop, there were no hidden charges, he gave plenty of great advice to avoid problems in the future! Needless to say, I was super impressed!

Hi there Chad!

Thanks for having us out, on Ladislav's reccomendation I certainly know where I'll be going for a hair cut next! That's the odd thing about toilets and drainage though... Sometimes you don't have issues for weeks, sometimes it happens multiple times per day. Either way, we can certainly appreciate the need to keep your business flowing smoothly, especially when it's a toilet issue and ESPECIALLY when it's a toilet shared by staff and customers! Thanks again for your great review Chad, call us back any time, we always enjoy helping out fellow local business owners!

I called Clearview because we had a hot water tank problem 10:00pm friday night. A friendly agent put out an SOS for us. We received no call back that night? Next morning 8:50am I called again, the agent appologized for what was a hardware failure and said a technician was on the way. REALLY? It was 25 minutes before the technition arrived, and by 11:00am Emmerik had finished installing a new hot water tank. Very knowledgeable and curtious. I was often curious about his work and he was very accomodating. When Emmerik was gone, you never would have known we had a problem the night before. Job was well done!

Dear Kevin and Carol, let me start by apologizing for the hardware failure that caused us to not get to you that night. Of course, these things do happen, but we do pride ourselves on our communication and customer service. At the end of the day, we were able to get your problem solved, but it is ALWAYS our policy to call if there is an issue with the technician, or if rescheduling is needed. I can assure you it won't happen again, but in the meantime you should have received a $60 Clearview Coupon in your email that you can use towards any plumbing or heating job you may have in 2010.

Still though, thank you very much for your review. I'm thrilled that (when you DID get service finally... sorry, this still bothers me, it's so unusual that I'm going to personally look into exactly what happend) the service was satisfactory and that our technician was patient and accomodating; two very important factors that we consider when hiring technician)

Thanks again for everything, including your patience!

-Kyle

Furnace install

I had a lovely consultant, Peter, who came to give me a free quote for my furnace when it was making all kinds of noise in October. We decided against it for the time being (what with a grandson's first Christmas just around the corner!) as we could live with the noise. All of a sudden in April our furnace cut out! We were left with no heat, so we called Clearview to have Peter out to set up the installation and sign the contract. He was there on the 12th and by noon on the 13th we had heat again! Thank you to everyone who made this ordeal a little easier.

Thanks for choosing us after all Cynthia! Glad you enjoyed our speedy service! Of course, Winter is a busy time for all of us, whether it's Christmas, New Years, or just trying to stay warm! Make sure you're fully prepared BEFORE the winter season hits (you wouldn't believe how many people choose to opt out of yearly maintainance and need to spend big money on an emergency No Heat repair!) and take advantage of our $99 furnace tune up! Remember - an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Don't get stuck without heat, have one of our technicians over today!

Our technician Ladislav was excellent! We will definitely have him back to do some upcoming work for us! He was tidy, efficient and was able to take care of the problem in no time. Not to mention he was so personable, he even made friends with our dog, which is very important to us! We know who we'll be calling for our future work! Thanks Clearview!

We're getting great reviews about Ladislav all the time! It helps when a technician is both knowledgable AND personal! There's nothing worse than feeling like an intruder in your own home, or feeling like you're disturbing the technician by asking questions. We're just the opposite! We love helping homeowners gain a bit of experience and education in dealing with issues and it's always a privilege to be welcomed into a customers home! And yes, we love (well trained) dogs! As far as we're concerned puppies are part of the customer's family! Thanks again Dianne!!!

I called Clearview because I needed my faucet installed. They sent Darrin, a terrific technician. He gave me the price up front and got to work. Even though the work ended up being more complex than he originally thought, he had the tools and parts with him to fix it, at the same price that was quoted up front! Everything is working well, and the repairs went seamlessly! Thanks for the great service!

We don't call our trucks "Warehouses on Wheels" for nothing! Did you know that it is "Old Hat" practice for many (but certainly not all) hourly rate plumbing outfits all over the world to bring the bare minimum of parts or tools with them? Any guesses why? Right! You're still on the clock, from the time he steps in and books the problem until he leaves when it's done (which is usually about a minute after you've paid, and three minutes after you've found out what the price ACUTALLY COSTS!!)

We're big fans of up front pricing, BEFORE you've already made a commitment! Keeping a diverse array of tools and parts with us minimizes trips to the supplier, but when we do have to, you're paying the exact same price we quoted you BEFORE we started!

Thanks again!

Thanks SO much for your comments! That is the epitome of what we would like to hear about our technicians - the work was great, the area was clean, and the work was efficient. This is especially noteworthy because of the size of the job. Thanks again for allowing us to help you with an issue of this magnitude, we look forward to serving you in the future!

Ladislav was fantastic & and a pleasure to deal with, I felt very comfortable having him in my home. I was nervous about being taken advantage of price-wise by a plumbing company but Ladislav alleviated my fears and gave me plenty of options. When I tried to tip him to show my appreciation, he wouldn't accept it. He said the company pays him and that he was just happy I was satisfied. Very rare... Very refreshing!

I just want to take a moment to let everyone know just how proud I am to have technicians that do such quality work, like Ladislav. For a customer to feel that the technician deserves a tip over and above the $900 that was just spent, we know we've done something right. Of course, Ladislav was right, we'll never accept it, but I just want to thank you very much for the offer. Knowing that our customers are satisfied is the only tip we need!
