Avenue Road Roofing

My name is Rohan. I am both an owner, the board president and property manager of a small townhouse condominium corporation in the village of Long Branch of south Etobicoke, Toronto.

My relationship with Avenue Rd Roofing began in 2003, when I hired them to replace the shingles of our west mansard, which takes the brunt of heavy winds. I decided to use Avenue Rd Roofing because of the advice given when they provided their quote for the job. Kaz, one of the installers at that time, suggested we needed to glue the shingle tabs so they will survive the high winds. He knew I could have taken that advice to another company that offered a cheaper quote, but he gave it anyway, because it was the best thing to do. Impressed by this attitude of suggesting what was best for the customer rather than only what was needed to win the job, I hired them to do the work. I have not been disappointed - 13 years later, only a single shingle has come loose.

In 2006, I needed to replace the east mansard shingles. The exposure to wind was much less, so I gambled and went with another company who had a cheaper quote - of course, they also seemed to have a good reputation. I was disappointed when some of the shingles came loose a few months later and I could not get them to come and repair them, despite several phone calls and their boast of a 10 yr warranty - the same offered by Avenue Rd Roofing.

Needless to say, when I needed to replace our top roof in 2011, I did not hesitate to call Avenue Rd Roofing, despite them again being the highest quote - I had learned the lesson: you get what you pay for; go for the cheapest price and you often get the cheapest quality work or warranty support.

Why am I writing this review? Simply to acknowledge a quality company who operates on a high level of integrity and performance. Since getting the top roof done, a number of the top row mansard shingles (all on the east side which was done by the other company, except for one tab on the west mansard) have fallen down. I was afraid, since the other company has never responded to my calls (their work is still within the warranty period) I was expecting to pay for these repairs. I called Avenue Road Roofing, and who should show up? The same Kaz, who had now moved "up the ladder" from being an installer to representing the company through their warranty division. Avenue Road took full responsibility and repaired these top row mansard shingles for free, though it was the work of another company. Recently, one tab finally fell from the top row of the west mansard, 13 years later and 3 years out of the warranty period. Avenue Rd Roofing did not hesitate to fix that for free also.

The final thing I will say about Avenue Rd Roofing is about their generosity as a company. When I had them quote our top roof, I explained that, as a condominium corporation, we are unable to secure a loan from our bank and will need to wait until we raise the money to do the roof. They did not hesitate to arrange an interest-free payment plan at a pace we could afford to avoid financial strain, so we did not have to delay the much needed work.

Our condominium corporation has dealt with a number of roofing companies throughout our 38 year history and, from the report of those who are original owners, we have never dealt with a company like Avenue Rd Roofing. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any roofing job or any other work they do (such as masonry work, which I have had them do for us recently). As far as I am concerned, they set the pace for quality of workmanship, conduct and integrity. As long as they are around, I will never use any other company.

I am getting my home ready to sell. I contacted Avenue Road Roofing and explained I needed a roof inspection and a small repair. The representative Cynthia took my call & assured me no job was too small. She was very helpful. I was then contacted by Kauko. Considering my roof is older, he was able to match the shingles. He completed the repair within 48 hours! He also followed up with me afterwards to let me know exactly what he did. I saw the completed work. It looks fantastic! I highly recommend Avenue Road Roofing, the staff is professional, caring, and their expertise made me feel confident I chose the right company.

On Friday September 11th, 2015 three contractors worked on this old roof for a complete replacement of the shingles and eves trough repair. They had it done in one day including complete clean up of the site. They were professional and courteous. They made the site safe during construction. I have high praise for their work. I watched them work and Victor is one hell of a great roofer. Victor and his two workers get two thumbs up from me for a job well done.

A great company to work with. They have been very transparent in their dealings and have continued to be of service making sure that we are completed satisfied with their work. There have been follow up calls to make sure everything is okay.

My Wife and I, at our current address and at our previous residence, have been customers of Avenue Roofing since 1980. We have always received excellent service, including prompt attention from Ed Standish and his former partner. In August 2012, your company did eaves and fascia work. On Wed Aug 5/15 I spoke to the warranty department as we were having a problem with water overflowing at the opening of the downpipe. Kaz, your service representative attended at our residence on Fri. Aug 7th. He was courteous and efficient, plus provided advise to alleviate the problem in the future. We are please to advise you of the good work and the professional approach of Kas and others that have represented Avenue Road Roofing.

I contacted Avenue Road Roofing on Tuesday morning about my 5 year old roof, which had been installed by the previous owner.

A number of shingles had flown off the ridge of the roof, apparently due to Raccoon damage. I was hesitant to call, as the new homeowner, to see if the warranty would be honored in this case. I am happy and relieved that my call was returned two days later in the early morning and the damage repaired at no cost the same day.

I have dealt with Avenue Road Roofing since 1998, and they have done roofing, siding, and chimney work for me.
In regards to the recent roof replacement, it was great to deal with Kaz, Barb, and other members of the Avenue Road team. The roof was replaced within the time promised, and the work was completed in one day. Tarps were used on my property, as well as my neighbour's, all garbage was cleaned up, and my driveway was power washed after the roof was complete. What I like most about dealing with Avenue Road is that the completed work was inspected by another one of your staff, and I was kept informed as to whether the work met the high standards expected of Avenue Road roofers. Of Course it did, but in the case that it did not, the roofers would return to correct any deficiencies to the inspector's satisfaction. That is why I continue to use and recommend Avenue Road Roofing.

“I cannot say enough about the excellent service from Avenue Road Roofing. Marc came out twice to review my request for a new and possible larger evestrough. Other companies could not offer 6” guuters or just said it would look too industrial. I reviewed all options with Marc and he recommended the 6" gutters owing to the steep and large area roof line. He assured me that thwy would look great and went out of his way to explain why. I am an engineer so technical matters were important as well as aesthetics. The job was done within 2 weeks of final quote and the guys were fantastic. We reviewed all technical matters and they showed me how they would position the downspouts and showed me drainage flow with water as they were installing them. They efficent, clean and extremely courteous. Avenue Road exceeded my expectations and were also one of the lowest quotes I got, Oh, The 6" gutters actually added balance and proportion to the look of the house. Marc was 100% correct!
