Dishewasher fix

Told to come out it would be $80. After inspection told it would cost $295 + Tax for a piece that he quoted cost $120. Do your research and read the reviews. This company charged me and the part would cost to purchase online $40. He was here for about 45 mins. BBB will be hearing from me on this one. Perhaps the news as well.
Shame on me for sure.

Dishwasher repair

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Shame on me for not doing my homework before having them come to my home for a service call. I originally hired them because they seemed like a reputable company. Their website looked good. They have several locations. They were able to come the same day I called - and should I complete the work with them - they would waive the $80 service call fee. All seemed well.

Once the technician arrived, he explained to me that in order to fully diagnose the problem with my leaky dishwasher, he would need to service the machine. This "service" costs $280 + HST. He said that often times, especially with a dishwasher as new as mine, this solves the problem.

Surprise, surprise. It did not. I needed a part - which they did not have in stock. The Appliance Repair Guys called back the next day and quoted $245.72 to replace my water inlet valve. This price supposedly includes installation - but the part would take at least one week to come in. A quick Google search revealed that the "water inlet valve" on a Bosch dishwasher costs about $40. So they are charging $200 for labour - in addition to the $280+tax that I already paid!?

This company is SLIMY. I cannot stress enough to do your research before hiring them. The number of bad reviews on this website (and others) is very telling. I, unfortunately, have learned my lesson the hard way.

Appliance Repair

The worst experience I have ever had. They charged me over $500.00 to replace a belt on my 12 year old washer. The secretary is rude and confrontational and would not give me any contact info to complain. They lure you in to sign to have the work done and have no business ethics what so ever. Do not use them.

LG Washer - BEWARE

Shame on me. I should have Googled this company. F rating at the Better Business Bureau, Toronto Star investigation etc. Terrible company. The first hint was they do not tell you what the cost is up front. Still have the problem and now I need a part. I will go elsewhere. Not throwing good money $280 after bad. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. BEWARE!!!

Dryer repair

When our dryer stopped working on December 23ed we called and made an appointment for the 26th between 4pm-7pm. No one ever showed. We called another repair company that we found on Homestars that had a 9.8 rating and had our dryer up and running the next day. Moral of the story.... The information you find on HomeStars really tells you a lot about who you're hiring.

Front Load Washer Repair

I wish I had read the reviews before I decided to call this company. My story is similar to most reviews here. The first visit was to tell me a piece of debris was removed from my washer pump, all good to go. The next day, the same problem persisted that I called about initially. They sent the technician back who told me that the debris removed the day before must have caused damage. Suggested replacing the pump. In 24 hours, I was now in $280 + $200.00 for a new pump. Pump was installed, all good to go for the second time. Next day, water leaking on my floor. Technician comes back to tell me that the pump installed the day before was more powerful than my original one and had messed up the seal/housing. I'm thinking that since the technician just told me it was their error that they'd rectify the problem and move on. Not so much. The technician steers me back to customer service (bit of an oxy moron with this company). They try to sell me a new pump assembly at $380, to replace the new one they installed the day before. Couldn't get my questions answered, couldn't get a manager to speak to, couldn't get the owners name or email address. Would not tell me particulars of the install, part numbers or brands they dealt with. Deal with the original manufacturer or a major company that will actually look after your needs. It's absolutely frightful to Google this company and see what they're associated with.
BTW, The factory autorised company came out to my house to rectify this mess for me, $80 for the visit, made a slight adjustment, told me to have a great day. Runs like new!!

Ice Maker Repair

I recently had this company try to repair my ice maker on my Matag refrigerator. The repair man gave me a quote to repair the ice maker and assured me he knew what the problem was. He thawed the unit out and removed what he said was jammed ice.The next day it still did not work. I called to request this be fixed as I paid to have it repaired. The same repair guy came a week later to say i needed a new ice maker and it would cost another $240. The part cost is only $70 from maytag I am not sure why it would be $240. This company sucks. I am out $310 for nothing. I sure wish I read these reviews before I called them. Trust me you do not want these guys in your home..

Refridgerator repair

I have a GE Monogram built in fridge about 10 years old, the freezer wasn't cold enough and the icemaker wasn't working. I called the Appliance Repair Guys (I wish I knew about Homestars earlier) and they quoted me $80 for the service call. The technician came out a few days later and then charged us an additional $200 for the labour involved in a "diagnostics" that took about 20 minutes. We had to sign a "labour quote approval" or the guy wasn't going to do anything and this is non-refundable. He said we needed a new condenser fan but had to get the part to come back (separate charge). I called their customer service line (twice) to complain about what I considered to be sharp business practices. The technician called back to say that they couldn't find the part required because the fridge was too old and there were no spare parts available any more. I found the part on line for delivery the next day. I called the manager to complain again and was told that the technician had written down the wrong model number but in a later call they went back to saying that there were no parts available. My last call to them was not returned. End result - I am out $316 and the repair was not done. I would never ever use this company and would advise anyone else to stay away from them. I got another service provider, explained the problem on the phone, got a technician that day and the cost of the full repair (parts and labour) was $300, no other service or diagnostic charges.

fridge repair and water valve

Terrible company - do not use. I called these guys to fix a leak in my fridge water valve. While the tech was there, we discussed the hook-up to the house water supply. I agreed to pay to have the old copper tube and valve replaced with a new set. Technician had to make 4 trips to Home Depot because he kept buying the wrong part. That should have been my first clue this was going in the wrong direction. He removed the old valve off of my house water pipe, He did not seem capable to install the new valve without leaking. While he was trying for the 3rd time, I went upstairs and called their office to complain and ask them to send a more experienced tech. or at least have them call him for advice. I told the tech. I did not intend to pay until the job is done properly and leak free. I said I would happily speak to his office to tell them the same thing. While I was out of the room, the technician quickly and quietly packed up his tools and took off out the door without saying a word. Leaving me with no valve installed on my open water pipe, and my main house water unable to be turned on until it was fixed. I had to call a plumber to fix it. Appliance Repair Guys are incompetent and cannot be trusted to complete event the most basic repair job.. This guy spent over 3 hours struggling to do something the plumber did correctly in less than an hour.
Sad part is, before calling them I did a search on Homestars for Appliance Repair Guys and nothing came up! (Try it yourself, you will see). Now I find a bunch of negative reviews linked from an article in the Toronto Star. Fix your search engine Homestars! - I could have been spared this ordeal if your search engine had found all the negative reviews.

Dishwasher Repair

Well i should have used Homestars to check these highway robbers.......I was given a $280 plus parts which they had no cost for .....I had the unit repaired for $150 for a cleaning and that is all that was required . My bad for not checking but their bad because if they were honest and told me it would had been an extra $100 to get it working plus the initial fee they would had made more money I thank you for your attempt but you got the minimum from me
