Sears Home extended warranty

I always purchased Sears appliances and extended warranty. Sears service USED TO be great, but now it's the worst. I am trying to get my treadmill fixed (under extended warranty) for the last seven months, they keep telling me this part is on back order or that part is on back order but it's still not fixed. At one time a tech came with three parts but he was missing two, he took the three parts back and then they lost those parts in the warehouse.

It took three weeks to fix my fridge in the summer. It took only three weeks because I complained and they squeezed my appointment in, otherwise they were going to come to asses the fridge in four weeks.

Sears brand has no value in Canada anymore, I will never buy anything from them again. I shopped at Sears because of their service, not because I could not buy that stuff somewhere else.

Sears Home Service Extended Warranty

We purchased the extended warranty through Sears Home Service. BIG MISTAKE!!!!
Our dishwasher started leaking on Sept. 2nd and it finally got repaired on Oct. 17th. After having a technician diagnose the problem on Sept. 17th, the Call Centre scheduled a secondary technician on Sept. 29th without providing him with any work order. He called us during my scheduled appt. and inquired about the type of appliance, make and model number as well as the parts that required servicing. Numerous calls later to the Call Centre, we were given ridiculous excuses why the Call Centre was unable and unwilling to schedule a service call sooner. When I tried to escalate my concerns to a supervisor, my requests were denied and the calls were conveniently disconnected as well. On Oct. 10th, the Call Centre had confirmed with us that they had scheduled a service call for us on Oct. 17th during a time frame that was convenient for us. The morning of our schedule appt., we received a voice mail message that the technician would be arriving 5 hours earlier than the agreed upon time. The only reason that my dishwasher finally got repaired is because the sub-contractor agreed to re-arrange his schedule in order to meet us at an alternate time on Oct. 17th. I've never dealt with such an incompetent Call Centre. Very dissatisfied.

Service

DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT buy from Sears. My story is a long but I have never received such poor service from anyone
ever. I have been waiting to have my $3700.00 dollar stove fixed since May. It's still not fixed. They have your money and even after buying an extended warranty they just don't care. They scratched my hardwood floor and the technician and I use this term loosely didn't even know how to turn on the stove. I have spent countless hours on the phone with these people with no resolution in sight.

Outdoor Furniture

Our order for seasonal furniture from Sears was a nightmare from beginning to end. On the day of delivery no one showed up; when we called, we were told Sears had cancelled our order because of a problem at our bank. When we called our bank there was no problem-- our order had been fully paid for. More phone calls to Sears, where the agent spouted scripted lines and refused to connect us with her manager. She reassured us in would be delivered a few days later-- and it wasn't. Totally frustrated, we cancelled our order and would told we would receive a refund in 24-48 hours, which we didn't. They told us it would take 7-10 days to refund us ON SOMETHING WE PAID FOR AND CANCELLED because of their problems! Worst experience ever. DO NOT ORDER from Sears!!

Central Heating

I am sharing my story with the intent to protect general public from the unethical, un-professional, irresponsible, unfair behaviour that I experienced from Sear’s customer service.
Sears Home Services will find a way to refuse service. This time, they tried first to hide behind the agreement. When that did not work, they refused the replacement of the blower motor, although covered under the agreement, on the pretext that the Sears Technician thought that the furnace was not maintained properly. Please everyone take training on how to maintain your furnace, And, next time when you buy your house in resale, make sure that the Furnace was maintained properly. Something to ponder about. If we get the training on maintaining, why do we need Sears Home Services plan?

Purchase and Install of new furnace

We had to purchase a second furnace for our home due to an extensive renovation. We had been getting so many conflicting opinions as to what we needed for our home, it was getting frustrating. Dennis came to our home and was very thorough in explaining the many options open to us. Because of his patience and expertise, we felt we were able to make an informed decision as to what we needed for our home. And the wonderful thing about Sears is their warranty and service contracts! They far exceeded any other company we looked at. Everything is now in and keeping us warm and happy. The prices were definitely not the cheapest out there, but we felt that the warranty and service included was worth the extra money and peace of mind.

Blind installation

Got blinds installed in my house. Placed the order in Mar, the blinds came in July and we found the designer put an incorrect code and therefore the incorrect blinds arrived. Had them replace it...it has been 2 more months and order not executed to our satisfaction yet. Would never deal with them again.

Siding, Eaves and Downspouts

We called Sears for this job due to the quote which surprisingly was cheaper than other quotes and because of promotion if you used your Sears card. The sales person was great. The start of the job took longer than estimated but there was a lot of rain so we understood however the siding guys when they did eventual start took much longer than they should have to finish the job. The eaves and downspouts were installed very quickly and overall both jobs were done to our satisfaction, we just wish the first group didn't take so long.

Company Response

Some great feedback here. Even the negative helps us improve our service. I'd like to hear from anyone who has had a Furnace, Air Conditioner,or Water Heater done by Sears Home Services. Typically we tend to come in at a lower cost than many of the other major vendors, and I think we do a better job of communication, and on-site work. Not to mention the wide variety of no-interest financing options. But enough from me...what do you readers think?
