I contacted Imran @ Gas Fireplace Services & Repairs after reading the positive reviews on HomeStars. I made an appointment with a very nice person (who I found out is his wife) and Imran came yesterday (Saturday) to service/repair my gas fireplace. Having recently purchased the home and never owning a gas fireplace before, I had lots of questions for Imran. He was very pleased to answer my questions and was OK with me watching the service so I could learn how to operate the gas fireplace and the controls underneath. Imran was very knowledgeable and gave me lots of tips/information on the fireplace. The fireplace had likely NEVER been cleaned/serviced and was very dirty. Imran thoroughly cleaned the entire fireplace, secured screws, etc. and got the fireplace working (which it wasn't). He took out every log (which were not placed properly), rock, etc. and cleaned them. The glass door was covered in film and he made it shine It looks like a brand new fireplace - I could not believe the difference! He even applied some type of material that made the previously blue flame look natural. This was money well spent and I highly recommend Imran and his services. He is an expert in gas fireplaces, very respectful and honest. We are thoroughly enjoying the fireplace now.

Did you know that when you move your residence, your Enercare program automatically moves over to your new home? Well I didn't know that until monthly charges started appearing on my Enbridge bill at my new home. When I called Enercare, I was advised that the heating/cooling program automatically moved over and I was stuck with it for one year. They absolutely would not budge on that. All the heating/cooling program provides is one yearly cleaning/maintenance visit. It does NOT cover equipment repair/breakdown. Since I was stuck with the contract, I scheduled an Enercare appointment for cleaning of my furnace and a/c. Since I am new to the home, I do not know much about these units. The technician arrived to do the maintenance and was perturbed that I didn't have running water at the front of the house where the a/c unit was situated and my hose would not reach. He basically said "tough for you, I can't service this". When I made the appointment, no one at Enercare advised that I must have running water for the a/c servicing. Anyways, he moves on to the furnace (which is a very tight spot) was was again perturbed about the tight working space. He got madder and madder. I basically asked him to leave and as he was leaving, he handed me a TAG which means that my gas would be shut off unless "deficiencies" were corrected with the furnace installation. This guy was scary..... I had to go to the trouble of tracking down the company that installed the furnace to come and inspect the "poor workmanship" he noted on the tag. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my furnace and this was done out of spite. Of course, I reported all of this to Enercare during a marathon 2 hour phone call where I was repeatedly placed on hold (they try to wear you down by taking up lots of your time). I demanded to be released from the service contracts as I will NEVER allow an Enercare service person in my home again. Well, no one got back to me and I called again today. Guess what! Nothing has changed and the individual I spoke to (who I'm told was a supervisor) would not budge. Ask any qualified service technician and they will tell you about the quality of techincians who work for Enercare - very low! All Enercare wants is to lock you into that contract which renews AUTOMATICALLY each year - they would obligate you for life if you could. Do yourself a favor - stay away! This is NOT a reputable company who stands behind their service.

I have had custom built-in furniture installed in my previous homes (2 bedrooms, 3 closets and an office). I required a custom office and bedroom wardrobe for my new home which has very little closet space. This was my first time using GM Custom Woodworking and they really delivered! I met with Greg in my home and described to him what I needed. I had no pictures or drawings for him - I simply described my ideas. In about 15 minutes Greg produced 2 renderings which exactly met my needs. He took the lead - no guessing. Greg told me that the furniture would be manufactured (by his company, no middle man) and installed in 2 weeks. AND IT WAS. I requested an experienced installer and Roman did an amazing job installing my built-ins. The installation took 3 days and I am so pleased with the results. The design is well thought out and the installation is so clean and precise. I priced out buying cabinets from IKEA (with no idea as to heights, clearances, etc.). I would have had to design/measure it myself and hire someone to install. There is no way that this would be cost efficient compared to having professional built-ins and the results are so much better. The furniture fits the space, is high quality and looks very customized. I'm already planning my next project with this company. Highly recommend.

I came home on a Friday evening to find out that the spring on my garage door had broken and my car was stuck inside. My teenage daughter needed the car for the evening so it was a panic. I checked HomeStars and found Garage Door Geeks. I gave them a call at 5:20 p.m. (on a Friday!) and received service by 6:00 p.m. with no premium charge for rush service. Oleg did an excellent job replacing the spring and helped with out with a simple issue with the other door. Excellent service - trustworthy and reliable.

Feb. 15th 11:00 pm -40 outside. Our furnace dies. We call the large well known company with whom we have a service contract. They tell us it will be 2 days before they can come. We called AirNet and Sam came within 1/2 hour. The motor on our furnace had burned out but he was able to lubricate it enough to get it going as a temporary fix. Sam was incredibly helpful and got us out of a real jam (leaving the house with 2 kids and a dog in the middle of the night and burst pipes). His charge was very reasonable. Be careful with those service contracts - you need to know emergency response times before you sign them. I would highly recommend AirNet Heating.
