Our fridge was gradually getting warmer and warmer so we looked up reviews for fridge repair people on HomeStars and we're very glad that we found Yevhen. He was able to fit us in relatively quickly (even accommodating a last-minute schedule change on our part), fixed the fridge perfectly, and was very reasonably priced. I'd recommend him to anyone.

We hired Daniel a couple of years ago to finish our newly-excavated basement and he's helped us (and family members) out with a few projects since then. Recently we needed to modify our balcony so that we could remove the front railing when necessary (to allow us to move items out of our bedroom via the balcony) so we called Daniel again. No surprise, Daniel was able to do exactly what we wanted. He made it so that the front railing slides into bolts (so that it's normally locked in place but can be lifted out if necessary) and he also installed a little board to protect our eavestrough. It works perfectly and he got the job done in good time and for a very fair price. No complaints...I would definitely recommend Daniel for any project, big or small.

Thank you for the review. I'm glad we brought your vision to reality when we fabricated custom railing hardware.

Our furnace was leaking (turns out that it was the air conditioning unit located above the furnace), and we needed someone to take a look. We called Quality Home Comfort on Saturday morning and they were able to come later that day. They came when they said they would, fixed the problem, and didn't charge all that much, so I have nothing to complain about. We'll be calling them again next time with future furnace/AC issues!

We hired Daniel for our basement renovation, and we were extremely happy that we did. Our project involved excavating the back 300 sq/ft of our basement from a 3' crawlspace to 8' depth (the excavation was done by another contractor) then finishing it (including a full room, hallway, closet, and laundry nook with washer/dryer, sink, electrical box, and cabinets). We spoke with a number of other contractors before choosing Daniel, and I can say that he was the best combination of low price (his was basically the lowest quote we got, other than a shady guy that I'm glad we didn't go with) and ability to handle everything we threw at him. Actually, that was the best thing about Daniel. We started with measured plans, but we also wanted to add a number of things after we started. Daniel didn't say no to anything. Travertine (which other contractors said they couldn't handle)? Not a problem. Plumbing? Fine. Foundation repair? Quartz countertop installation? Pocket doors? Hand-modifying Ikea closet organizers to fit our space? Done, done, done, and done. He took everything in stride, and he made sure that everything was exactly the way we wanted it. Now obviously he didn't do everything himself (although he was quite capable), but what he couldn't do himself he always had a subcontractor to handle. Another thing I should mention is that Daniel is nice. He's just a nice guy. He never complained with our changes to the schedule, he always had a smile on his face, and he was great to deal with at all times. Bottom line: I would hire Daniel again in a second. He did everything we wanted and more. I would be remiss, however, if I didn't mention the fact that the project took substantially longer than was originally planned. It was supposed to run from late August to late October, and when everything was said and done it ended in early March of the next year. While some of the extra time was due to changes to the plan by us, this was maybe one (two MAX) of the four-month delay. That being said, I think it says a lot that I'm giving a 10-star review to a contractor that took twice as long as planned for the job. If you're in an extreme time crunch then I might not recommend Daniel; in any other case, however, I would recommend him without reservation.

We hired Tony and his guys for an excavation job on our 130 year-old Cabbagetown townhouse (turning a crawlspace into an 8-foot basement), and we couldn't have been happier with our selection. First of all, we talked to a lot of people (probably at least a dozen) before we started the job, and Tony was not only one of the most reasonably priced but definitely the one that most impressed us right from the start with his knowledge and ability. This was not an easy job...the existing foundations in the house were a mixture of crumbling brick and some sort of strange 1800s-era cement mixture (with all sort of odds and ends of bricks and other pottery bits stuck into it), and a large part of it wasn't visible before the start of the project. We also had a number of difficult site conditions (very limited parking, space outside to work, or room for a bin), and he took it all in stride. Tony and his men were there every day working (and this was in the middle of the summer, digging things out manually since there was no room for construction equipment on site), and they never complained and never slowed down. Although we had moved out for the construction, we spoke with our neighbours and they all mentioned how hard working Tony and his guys were as well as how considerate (as an example, they had a huge concrete truck come down our narrow alleyway for the underpinning part of the job, and they had no problem moving it all the way back out whenever someone wanted to get through). Perhaps the best compliment is that Tony finished the work on time (literally to the day), on budget, and with the highest possible quality. He even threw in a couple of extras that we hadn't expected (metal grates for the top of the window wells, for example) for free. If I had a similar job in the future I would use Tony again in a second and I have no hesitation recommending him to anyone. P.S. One thing I do suggest is not to expect Tony to respond to emails with any immediacy. I generally prefer to communicate by email, which was a bit frustrating at first since Tony would take days or weeks to respond when I was originally looking for contractors. Once I figured out that Tony was much more easily contacted by phone, however, things went a lot more smoothly (he almost always answers his cell phone, so he's actually really easy to contact this way).

Our kitchen sink drain was blocked; I gave John a call, he came by the house 45 minutes later, and had everything fixed about a half hour after that. The original quote was $200 for the work, and he recommended that we put a bypass valve in the drain to make access easier in the future, which was why the total price was $250 (plus tax). I was very happy with John's prompt arrival, great work, and pleasant demeanour.
