We evaluated four roofers, including three from Homestars and one 'budget' roofer. The budget guy was indeed cheap, but it was clear we were getting a much lower quality roof in terms of materials and attention to detail. Downtown Roofing was a better price than the top roofers on the Homestars listing and offered the same service and materials. In fact, things other roofers extolled as examples of their premium service (e.g., cleaning out the gutters after the job), Downtown didn't mention, but just included.
The roof was installed in September and took longer to install than anticipated because a couple of their crew were off sick, but it was no problem. After we paid the bill, we noticed in better light that the flashing wasn't done as well as we would have liked. We called and found out their metal guy was one of the sick members of the crew. They promised to send him out to replace all the flashing once he was back at work. True to their word, they arrived as agreed and ripped off their previous work and re-did it. We were impressed since we'd paid the bill and didn't think we'd see them again.
Our eaves trough cleaner was here last week and came to the door to ask who'd done our roof. He said it was a great job and he'd be recommending Downtown Roofing to his clients.
