Water heater diagnosis and replacement

BEWARE - READ THROUGH

I called Superior Plumbing & Heating to fix a hot water issue and they suggested I needed a new hot water tank
.  I agreed because this was an income property and the tenants had a baby and needed hot water asap. I ended up providing my own water heater($700) and paid them 2100 to install it which is already way to much. (they quoted $4500 for them to provide the tank).

The house is a duplex and has 2 water heaters as each unit is on its own meter.  The tenant called back shortly after the tech left saying they still had no hot water. I called superior Plumbing a few times to get a tech to come back and got the run around. Luckily I had the techs phone number and he managed to get the service appt for me to come back.

When he came back again to check why it wasn't working he and the tenant found out that he actually replaced the wrong water heater. The tenant was with the tech the whole time on the original visit and said that the only thing the tech did before condemning the tank was read the label for the age and then checked the dump valve. He never confirmed if it was actually working or not. I trusted that they were giving me the correct info and they didn't.

Now I lost my good water heater as they removed it and refuse to return my calls or offer any compensation and my problem is still not fixed.

This is the worst customer service I have ever seen and I would not recommend anyone using this company ever. BEWARE

Well pump replacement

What is there to say about Superior Plumbing. Genuinely, nothing good, they are extremely over priced and disingenuous with their pricing and quotes.

The pump for our well stopped working and so we called Superior Plumbing as they had decent reviews and when I asked them if they knew how to fix/replace well pumps, they said yes. This was the first piece of misleading information. They subcontract out their well repairs and they don't mention it, even if you ask. Dave (some type of manager according to himself) showed up, took a look around and proceeded to tell us that his estimation of the situation will lead to a quote of over $20,000. According to him, there would need to be digging with a bobcat over 8 feet down, a crane to lift the pump out and a new pressure tank, the job was to take about 8 hours. This seemed reasonable so we paid the initial deposit (50% of the initial quote).

The next day, the company that was subcontracted showed up, took one look at the well, realized they didn't need to dig or even use a crane and completed the job inside 2.5 hours. Well below the 8 hours quoted. So with no heavy machinery, 1/4 of the quoted work hours actually worked and no pressure tank replacement, one would think the quote would have to be adjusted. Seems reasonable right? Wrong. The quote was exactly the same price.

When I asked them to explain to me why this was the case, Dave proceeded to tell me "this is what you agreed to and never in all my years of working for Superior Plumbing have I seen them adjust the quote". This made no sense. How can you charge for hours not worked? Or equipment that wasn't used? We eventually (by some mirical according to Dave) got the quote adjusted by a mere $500 thanks to Dave's "kindness". After asking for an itemized invoice (which according to Dave and the finance department is unheard of and a strange request they have never recieved) the quote magically fell by another $2000. After asking to speak with one of the higher ups in the company, not a single question was answered and much mocking and snickering took place. Then we were threatened with being sent to a collections agency if we didn't pay. It didn't seem to matter to them that we wanted to know what we were paying for.

Lo and behold, I got a phone call yesterday that the bill was reduced an additional $3000, when asked to explain why and how such a dramatic drop occurred, again, no answer was given. I was not bothered by the reduction in price, but the hesitancy in which they "explain" anything in any way seemed very disingenuous. Based on my experience, if they assume you have money to spend (larger than average house or a large piece of property) they will actively inflate the price in the hopes you won't notice or care and pay them what they ask.

Since this eye opening experience, I have gotten over 10 different quotes and none of them were over $8000 for the same work that was completed.

All in all, horrible service and genuinely terrible customer service with a derisive contempt for their customers. Superior Plumbing will gouge you in any way they can. I can't possibly denounce this business and its practices enough. NEVER bother with them, your wallet and peace of mind will appreciate a second opinion.

I will now go out of my way to make sure as few people will be taken in by their shady business practices as possible. I will also be contacting the better business bureau of Canada to report this crooked behaviour.

Shockingly awful, take your business elsewhere

Avoid this company

We got a quotation for the order number 4954696 from a plumber named Dave and agreed to pay for the 50% deposit thinking they will only replace the pipes we want to replace and this is the service we agreed on the first place. The next day 2 plumbers we never met arrived to our house and tried to force us to pay more than what we got quoted cause they want to dig a hole to our basement! When all we need is to replace the old pipe our home inspector suggested us to replace and this is the type of service we originally agreed with when we met Dave. We got another plumber from another company and he told us that we only need to replace the old pipe not to dig a hole to our basement. Superior Plumber is not an honest company as they just want to get as much money as can to their customers. They trick customers and keep 25% of the deposit. Becareful hiring Superior Plumbers. I hardly write negative reviews, but when I do I have a valid reason to warn others. Avoid this company to avoid future headaches.

Don't ever hire this company

My old water heater quit working and I knew it had to be replaced. I called this company to get a quote over the phone but they said that someone has to come to my house to do that and I have to pay $99+tax service fee. They never told me on the phone that if I have to cancel this appointment I would have to do it 3 hours before of the start of the appointment window. Unfortunately that was the first company I called. Meanwhile I called two other companies and they gave me a quote over the phone. I would've liked to cancel the appointment but I was unable to do so because I had less than 3 hours from my appointment. Also if I wanted to cancel within the 3 hours cancellation window the cancellation fee would've been $125+tax which more than the service itself. The plumber showed up and quoted me more than $3600. The other two companies quote was $1200 less over the phone.
I think this company makes money on giving overinflated quote on site. The home owner is either going to pay their ridiculously overpriced work or pay the $99+tax service fee for a less than 10 minute visit. I don't recommend this company.

Replace shower handle 3 way valve

Gino
STAY AWAY from these people.
STAY AWAY from these people !
The shower handle got a bit stiff, the technician said it needed the 3 way valve behind the handle replaced.
It took 1.hr and 15 min, we prepaid for 4hrs.
The part they say is 300 to 400 $ (84 $ at Home Depot).
The bill was $ 1650 + tax.
No problem with the work. But...you'll be the judge

Replace main water shut off valve

Stay away from this company. Charged $99+tax for a 10 min visit. Estimated $1250+tax for a 30-45 minute job. Found a licenced plumber to do the same job for $1000 less. This company is very overpriced!!
Do your research and find someone who has a reasonable price for the job.
I would not recommend them.

Water leak from bathtub

This company is a disaster.

I had a water damaged on the ceiling in my living room on the main floor from the bath upstairs.
We called this company and supervisor came to do the estimate. When he came he cut the drywall on the wrong spot, so he had to cut it again. In the end I had two holes on my ceiling. He said he found the leak, explained everything to my husband, and set the price $992.00.

He took a deposit in amount of $500.00, and said that on Monday guys will come to fix the issue at 10 am.
On Monday two guys came, one of the guys had 1 arm broken in hypsium.
I thought how it possible to do the job on the ceiling with 1 hand
After they entered, without asking where is the problem, they headed to the kitchen and cut the kitchen drain. I was shocked and asked what they are doing they said that they are repairing the drain. I said but I dont have issues with the kitchen drain. I guess they had the wrong instructions from the office. So I said to them to fix the kitchen drain and leave my house. I didnt want them to touch the bathtub drain. We called the office and they said that they are keeping 25% of the total amount, I was very angry and said that Im paying just for inspection and thats it. The office said that they will return $400.00
When I called another plumber he came and laughed because there was no issue with the drain of the bathtub for with they wanted to charge me almost $1000.00. There was small issue with the water level plug on the side of my bathtub, which he fixed in 5 minutes and charged $150.00 for service call.
I can say that superior plumbing and heating wanted to charge my household for the thing which wasnt a problem at all.
It took me 4 days to return $400 back.
Stay away from this company, very unprofessional.

Worst service ever

Plumber arrived after the scheduled 4-hr window, took a look at the problem, seemed to fix the leak, then said it would require extensive work to properly fix, somewhere in the vicinity of $850. We said that seemed high to us, and he asked us to "name a price" and that he'd "try to work with us on it". Paid $111 for the service visit. We said said we'd think about it. Next day, leak returns, and we call for a return visit. We were charged another $111, but this time with no repair work whatsoever. Plumber told us on both visits he'd send a quote for the extensive work he thought needed to be done. Never received this. Meanwhile, another plumber took a look at the problem and said he can fix it for around $190 plus parts. Worst service ever - avoid.

Stay away from Superior Plumbing

TLDR: They broke my faucet threading and pipes (which led to water leaks) and went away. Promised sending someone to fix but never show up. Manager Jason refused to return call.

Details:

We have a broken faucet and got the replacement part from manufacturer. We need help to replace it and we contacted Superior Plumbing. Their guys came, unscrewed, turned around and checked about the faucet, then they said they couldn't fix it because it's not a conventional faucet (however the manufacturer sending the replacement part under warranty and said it's just a straight forward replacement).

One of their guys "David" claimed that the pipes and threading were needed to be redone, instead of replacing the faucet alone. He said it is an extensive work and would cost several thousands more. Then he put things back and left.

Later on, water was found leaking from the base of the faucet (even not turning on) and led to water leakage at the underneath basement's ceiling. Water was dripping from the ceiling and soaked the walls and floor. Many things were ruined.

We called Superior Plumbing again and they promised to send someone to fix it but never show up. We asked for their supervisor (later known as Jason). However Jason was forever in meeting and refused to return call.

The faucet was broken but never had an issue if not turning it on, for months, until it's touched by their guys. I suspect their guys came in and tried to create a bigger problem by breaking more things further so that they can charge for more. It's just they didn't expect now the problem is bigger than they imagine.

Now they are trying to avoid the liability and want to get away from this.

Don't trust any review. Check out the complaints on "Better Business Bureau" about Superior Plumbing and don't make the same mistake as mine.
