Worst customer service in 40+ years of home ownership

We were having a chimney taken down and needed a water heater that could be power-vented out of the side. We also wanted a humidifier on the furnace. We selected The HVAC Service, primarily because they could schedule the work for the day prior to the chimney removal.
We received an email saying they would arrive between 8 AM and noon. At 11:30 AM, we called to get an ETA and were told they were on their way. At 1:30 PM, we called again. They would look into it and get back to us. No one did. We called back at 2:30, and again at 4:30, by which time we were getting concerned as it was getting late and we needed the work done that day, as promised.
They eventually showed up at 5:30 PM and stayed until almost midnight trying to get the exhaust piping right as they didn’t have the proper materials and had to make several elbow bends. When they eventually turned the tank on, the flame burned orange, indicating a combustion issue and potential CO threat. They said it was probably too many elbow bends and someone would be there first thing in the morning to fix it.
(They also informed us that the proposed humidifier, on which we had already made a down payment, could not be installed as there was insufficient space on and around the furnace, and that an expensive steam humidifier was the only option. We asked for either a new invoice minus the original humidifier or an estimate for a new one. All we got was an amended invoice with a $300 reduction! The technicians had also connected the new tank to an outlet using an extension cord as there were no outlets close by. They asked whether we'd been informed during the sales call that this was an issue and we should bring in an electrician. We had not.)
The following day, when "first thing" had become 11 AM, we texted the salesperson and were told that someone would contact us ASAP. Nobody did. An hour later, we called head office and were told they were on their way and should arrive between 12:30 and 1 PM. They showed up at 2 PM and replaced the pipes with a more efficient setup. The flame still burned orange. Next guess? A faulty gas valve which would have to be replaced. Someone would arrive next day "before 10 AM".
At 11 AM on day three, we contacted the salesperson, who said he had been told that the job was complete! He said he had never seen a situation like it and that he had spoken with the head of the company who would be calling us in five minutes. An hour later, unsurprisingly: nothing. At 12:30 PM, we called head office and were told we were scheduled for between 10 AM and noon. “Okay, but it's now 12:30." We were told that a part had been ordered but they had no idea when it might arrive
At this point, they started not only blowing us off but actually giving us a hard time for repeatedly calling in an effort to find out what was going on. On asking who might have a clue, we were told the parts manager but they "were busy" and would call back "at their earliest convenience". We never did hear from them but a while later the original person called back (the first proactive call in three days!) and said they would arrive with the part between 4 and 8 PM.
At 7:15 PM, we called again on the assumption that we were looking at a fourth day without hot water. We were told that they were on their way to Windsor to pick up the part. (So where did the 4 - 8 PM window come from?) A technician finally arrived at 10:30 PM. He installed the replacement successfully and left close to midnight. He also contradicted the salesperson and technicians in suggesting that the original humidifier could in fact have been installed but probably wasn't the right model and that a steam humidifier was not appropriate for our size of house.
We never received a single follow-up call asking whether the issue had been resolved or apologizing for the delays, the lack of communication, and the conflicting messages. At 6 PM on Saturday, however, we received a request for the balance of payment, and again on Sunday. Suddenly they were exhibiting a new-found urgency! After speaking with a manager, they took an additional $200 off the original bill for the inconvenience; hardly enough to have a new humidifier installed, and which this company certainly will not be doing!

New furnace and water heater

Very disappointed. Sales reps are knowledgeable but company doesn't do the work, they just sub contract. Both furnace and water heater were installed improperly (e.g. hot water was coming out of the cold taps) and installers had to come back. The old water heater never ran out of water, and the one they put in to replace it doesn't last two showers. Getting someone even to return a call is a challenge, they don't stand behind their work and it seems like more of a sales organization than a real company. I would strongly recommend against using them

Stay away from them. They are not a company who cares about your issues and fix them, but a sales company who is eager to sell the products from its fancy websites.

The only thing they can do is to arrive at the time of your request and inspect your AC without any tools and then get the inspection fee from you. The so-called technician came to inspect our AC with his eyes only and told us the AC need to be replaced and quoted $4500 CAD for a replacement. I even asked him to check if this problem was caused by the capacitor. The technician refused and said he know how AC works. This was how their technician repair or inspect your AC. Had a second opinion and replaced the capacitor for $200CAD. The AC works perfectly again.

We contact the company for our concerns and get no response. From our whole experience, we feel that if you can skip this company, please do so.

Questionable Technical Capabilities/Terrible Customer Service

Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this company. They appear to have many good reviews, so we either got terrible technicians and office staff or many of these 10/10 reviews are questionable. They are not technically qualified to install such critical equipment in your home, not to mention the terrible customer service when something goes wrong. The way they installed our boiler was not in code and could have been disastrous for our family! We tried numerous times to have them fix it and they constantly changed the date and or time and the technicians they sent out did not fix the original problems, but created new ones. We could no longer take chances and were lucky to find a company that was honest and reliable and able to finally fix it, they made changes on the venting to bring it up to code. Even though the boiler had only been installed 8 months prior and was still under warranty, we had to pay $500 to have the additional work done to make the boiler safe and functioning properly. BUYER BEWARE if you deal with this company.

new boiler installation

Because I was extremely disappointed with the way the installation was done I cancelled the contract as per the directions of a representative of the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services. The company did not abide by the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act and we were left in limbo without return of our down payment. The kind of company you sometimes hear about and hope you never have dealings with.

New Boiler - New Tankless Water Heater

All I can say is I don't understand how they have so many positive reviews! We wanted to replace our furnace, so this is one of the companies we had come out and give us a quote. Unfortunately, we ended up going with them and we have had nothing but trouble. We were quoted on the boiler and talked into switching our traditional water tank to a combi unit. We agreed and were told the unit would vent directly outside vs using the old chimney. The day we scheduled them to come, they told us they could not install a combi unit, but rather they would install a tankless water heater and a boiler. When they installed the tankless unit it was not installed properly, as the intake was suppose to be vented to the outside(to bring outside air in vs using the basement air). We were not told that there needed to be a water line that takes excess water away from the tankless unit so instead of routing this to a drain the plastic tubing was left running across our floor in front of the washing machine to the floor drain. Additionally, instead of venting the boiler directly out as they said they were going to do, they vented it through the old chimney. We first had trouble with the boiler that was leaking and they refused to change it out, it has rust on it from the leak and they finally did agree to extend the warranty from the one year we originally had. Now we have had hot water on and off for almost a week. They came to change the fresh air vent to the outside as it was originally installed incorrectly and have had to come back three times as it now is getting an error code due to CO2(they also cancelled the original appointment 3 times and when they did finally come back the three times they were way past the time they said they would arrive) as it was installed improperly. We called them again today with no response on when someone could come out asap to fix it. The customer service is terrible, they speak over you and make excuses for everything. We had to pay another company to come in and fix it and have had no trouble with. Needless to say today, less than a year after the boiler being installed, it is not working. We called to have a technician come(today is very cold)to look at it and no one can come until tomorrow evening(30 hours from now). So if you value customer service and an ethical company this is not it. Do yourself a big favour and find a more reputable company.

Negligent and unresponsive

This company was disappointing on three fronts: 1. installed faulty equipment, 2. didn't complete the proper checks to ensure that the equipment was functioning properly, 3. unhelpful customer service and unresponsive office manager. I won't go into detail but I'm talking about serious negligence that put me and my family at severe risk.

iNSTALLATION OF nEW rADIATORS

I had the most harrowing experience, dealing with the HVAC service people. It was a nightmare to get the job done from them. I got some rads installed from them recently and the job is not complete yet. One of the rads does not even kick in. When I called up, their front office lady would promptly say that she will inform the manager and he will call you. Nobody ever calls you back. The same lady called me up 50 times to get the full payment from us before the job was complete. And now they had the audacity to ask me for visit charges to make the new rads run, installed by them. Now I am stuck.
Every time they will send a new technician who will usually complain about their own person who came in earlier, because of the bad work done. They also have a huge attrition rate with their technicians. They will arrive unannounced or at a time not assigned so that they can simply go back and say that they came but no one was there.
Their technicians are usually not skilled and are shabby in their work style. Please note that I am a professional who is getting a job done for a client. If these people can do this to me they would definitely take others for a ride. Please stay away from these fly-by-night operators.
