Great Work!

I had the pleasure of working with Jordan Gilary at Consumer's Choice Home Renos for my kitchen, bathrooms and flooring. Jordan was extremely knowledgeable, efficient, reliable, honest, trustworthy, and most of all, patient! The job was completed on time, within the agreed upon budget, and to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend Consumer's Choice!

New roof

Paid for an upgraded roof shingle in Aug 2014 with wind rating of 120km. May 4 2018 wind storm with a max wind speed of 87km in my city blew off a big section of shingles and guess what JORDAN IS DOING NOTHING HE REFUSES TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBLITY, REFUSES TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AN HUNG UP ON ME. HE JUST DOESN'T WANT TO ABSORB THE COST TO FIX IT. DO NOT GET ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Company Response

Thank you for your review and we do understand your frustration although you failed to mention you were swearing at Jordan on the phone when he suggested a minimum service charge just to cover the cost of the service call, our contracts state 1 year warranty on installation and the roof was installed in 2014 and we also came back 2 weeks later to fix the problem with the soffit as racoons caused damage to them....and perhaps caused damage to the shingles later on, and adding to that, we experienced an unusually extreme windstorm so that too would attribute to the loss of shingles as did a large portion of the G.T.A. Again, we are prepared to service the roof at a minimal charge to cover the costs if Mrs. Appleton chooses not to go through her insurance company. We pride our Company on good workmanship and hope we can resolve this matter amicably.

Doors & Windows

Professionally installed & nicely finished trim work. Worked with a flawed wall to ensure the window was properly trimmed, used flashing around patio door which home builders do not (they use excess caulk) - beautiful front door, patio slider & master bedroom window. Would highly recommend. Good service, committed staff - no contractors.

Poor workmanship

We had Consumer's Choice redo bathrooms, install new floors, update trim, paint, and build a fireplace mantle. Everything looks OK at first glance, but when you give it a closer look you see evidence of slapdash work, like tiles that aren't level or cut to the same length at edges and gaps where new floor meets trim. And there was basic finishing work that we had to ask for (and much that wasn't done), like putting sealant around tubs and bathroom counters they'd installed.

Biggest issues: a few weeks after finishing the job, large pieces of grout stated breaking between floor tiles, becoming loose and popping out. Consumer's Choice came back five times (yes, FIVE) to try to fix this. Last time here they removed and replaced the grout on floors in two rooms. But in removing the grout they also ground down the sides of several of the tiles. Our new floor looks like it's decades old. Also, the fireplace they built for us is falling apart; the horizontal mantle is separating from the vertical posts. Consumer's Choice has been back twice to fix that, and it's still separating.

If you want quality workmanship that shows attention to detail, don't hire Consumer's Choice.
