Gas Stove

My husband and I purchased our home three years ago with the intention of "renovating" the entire house. He is often on the road for work so most of the renovation arrangements are left up to me.

At this time - my husband and I were discussing the possibility of installing a gas fireplace in the basement. I had made several calls to local and surrounding HVAC companies inquiring about price and installation dates but felt as if not one gave me the time of day. A few days later I was heading to Oshawa when I spotted a van called Air Quality Control. I actually called them for two reasons .... one the name was catchy and two the vehicle looks very professional.

When I called the number, a man by the name of Justin George answered and he claimed to be the owner. I explained to him what I was looking for, and advised him that we are in a hurry as winter will soon be here. To my surprise, he started asking questions that no other company has asked me. (square footage of my home, what room the fireplace was going in, etc.) He then persuaded me to switch from a fireplace to a stove as it would be more cost effective, energy efficient, as well as throw off more heat. This guy was so knowledgeable it was like talking to a manual. I decided to proceed with Air Quality Control and asked Justin how soon they could install my stove. The earliest was a week as his employees were booked. Not a problem. That worked for me, Not one hour goes by and it's Justin calling me. He told me that he had some family in the Ottawa region and that I was on route. He wanted to know if TOMORROW was ok for the installation and that he himself would install it? TALK ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I recommend "ALL" homeowners in and around the Bowmanville location to use Air Quality Control.
FAST, FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL.

Gas Conversion

I hired Air Quality Control to install a new gas furnace in our home, we were converting from Oil, this company is very professional and takes pride in their work. When Enbridge came to inspect the installation, the inspector commented on how well the installation was done, said was one of the best installations he has seen. I would refer this company to my friends and family in a heartbeat.

Furnace / A/C Installation

I would like to express my experience to consumers who are looking for a furnace and air conditioner. I had many quotes but overall I was very happy with the company Air Quality Control. They came to my house and explained the whole installation procedure to me. The installers came to my home on time and did an exceptional clean install. They were very professional and courteous. The office staff was very friendly and respectful and had very good knowledge to their product. I am so pleased with this company and I would highly recommend them to my family and friends. Thank you Air Quality Control, Great Job!

Furnace & Air Conditioner

Air Quality Control responded to my late evening call in a fast and timely manor. I called at approx. 6:50pm Friday evening and no later than 7PM Kimberly had called me back saying that she could have her service guy over within the hour. I was amazed to hear that I would be receiving service later that night! Before i knew it the technician was pulling in my driveway at approx. 7:35PM. Jonathan arrived at my house and quickly found the issue being a faulty ignitor and a dirty flame sensor. He told me that he had the ignitor in the truck and that he would be able to clean my flame sensor. He than went on to advise me of the high costs of my rental water heater and that he could get me one through air quality control that i own for 4x less than what my rental contract would cost me! I intend to follow through with the water heater and have a sales call scheduled with justin (the owner) later this week to see if he can also get me a new air conditioner as mine is old and outdated! I would recommend air quality control to all of my friends and family and will update another post after I recieve my sales quote from justin!

Furnace and A/C

I would never recommend this company. I found Air Quality Control on wagjag in November. I had contacted them regarding installing a new furnace and A/C. Justin came over and gave us a quote on a 90000 BTU furnace. We decided at the time that we would wait to install the furnace and A/C at the same time. We contacted this company again in March and Justin came back out. He again quoted us on a new furnace and A/C unit and also a new A/C slab and agreed that we would use his company and the installation would be the next day at 9am. The installers showed up the next morning at 11am after I had to contact Kim from Air Quality Control. The installers were here until 7pm in which through those 8 hours they did not make any contact with me at all. I would see them now and again to use my washroom. Justin showed up around 6:45pm to collect the money and say he was going to check the work that was completed. Later that even my husband came home and inspected the work this company had done and was completed surprised! Air Quality Control did not install a new A/C slab as tthey advised they instead used our broken old A/C slab and put some little rocks around the slab that they found in my yard. When my husband checked the furnace he noticed that they also put in a 70000 BTU furnace and not a 90000 BTU furnace what we paid for. The next morning we contacted Kim and explained what we found. Kim explained to us that a 70000 BTU was the same as a 90000 BTU furnace and not to worry about it. We demanded to speak with Justin " the owner" and she had him contacted us back. When we spoke to Justin we were giving the run around saying that he wrote on the second quote a 80000 BTU furnace and when he contacted the manufactor they didn't make 80000 BTU therefore he went with a 70000 BTU which is way to small for our 2800 Square foot home. ( This was explained to us by Justin in the beginning and also 3 other furnace companies) After all day of fighting with this company to come and take out this furnace and put in the one we paid for Justin explained he would have someone come out the check the furnace and to see if it would be okay for our home. We allowed this contractor Jonathan to come in and he explained that our therostate wasnt working and to change it and also the broken slab that my brand new A/C was sitting on was not safe and needed to be done right! This still wasn't the solution to our problem! I wanted the furnace I paid for and also was extremely frustrated about the broken A/C slab. I then contacted Kim again and she advised that Justin was going on hoildays for a week and he would need to deal with them when he returned. Justin came back to our house on 03.-26-2013 and advised that if we weren't happy he would replace the furnace with the 90000 BTU but if we had any proablems we would be on our own. He then scheduled the instalation for the next day and also for a new A/C slab to be installed. On 03-27-2012 Justin showed up around 11am and dropped off my new furnace in my gargage and said that they couldn't install it that day and it would need to be tomorrow at 9am sharp. On 03-28-2012 the same installers showed up at 10:30am and 11am and began the work. The finally installed the proper furnace and also replaced the A/C slab with a new one. Once the work was completed the installers didn't say good bye or advised me they were completed the job. Justin was also to show up in which he didn't!!! Surprise!! The wrap up this horrible experience, I would never recommend this company to anyone. We were mislead from the owner and when we caught it we were giving the run around for almost 2 weeks. In the end this was a REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE!!!!!!

Air conditioner installation

Air Quality Control signed a contract with me Sept.25/12 to remove a "13 seer" a/c unit and install a "16 seer"rated a/c unit. I would also receive a $400.00 rebate from the Ontario Power Authority.
In Oct/12 Air Quality Control installed a "14.5 seer" rated unit, shook my hand and walked out my door without notifying me of what they had done.
One week later Air Quality Control mailed me an Ontario Power Authority rebate form asking me to sign ASAP and return to them. When I reviewed the rebate form it was then that I noticed that i was only in line for a $250.00 rebate from OPA??????
When reading the small print it was then I discovered Air Quality Control installed a 14.5 seer a/unit.
When I called the office I spoke the the secretary, Kimberly, who acknowledged she knew what happened but was directed to mail out the form. She was advised by her company that "$250.00 was better than nothing"
She also said that if I was only worried about the rebate I could just send her back the form and she would increase the ratings on the form knowing that "the OPA would not go to your home, open up your furnace and see what was installed"

Air Quality Control addresses complaints in a less than timely manner.
Three weeks later when asked to provide options Air Quality Control stated they would,
1: bump me to a 15 seer unit (not 16) which would give me a $400.00 rebate however not refund the difference for the 16 seer I paid for.
2: remove their a/c leaving me without my old unit however refund my money
OR
3: sell me at a great deal on one of their furnaces which would give me the 16 seer that was agreed upon.

I have requested that Air Quality Control HONOR the contract by whatever means necessary or compensate me for the fraud they have committed.
I paid $2900.00 for a unit that is barely more efficient than my old unit therefore my energy savings are minimal. Had I known what was going to be installed I would have cancelled the contract and kept my money.
Air Quality Control has made it very clear they have no intentions of compensating me for taking my money and knowingly installing a lesser efficient a/c unit that was agreed upon.
What a nightmare!

What could this company do to improve their services?
When a contractor breaks a contract as severe as this one he must understand that he cannot be making money on this. He must compensate and possibly lose money on the deal in order to save his reputation and the reputation of the company.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
