I'm very happy I hired Max to install the new railings for my place. He was super professional and did a fantastic job. He was always on time and worked late to get the project done as quickly as possible. Max even taught me things I didn't know with railings and other general questions I had. The pricing was very reasonable and I would hire/recommend Max again.

I was extremely fortunate to come across Max through another contractor. Not only did he do an amazing job with my stairs and railing, he was a friend and gave me some excellent advice which helped me immensely with my renovation that involved a major gut of the main floor. Max of Nord-Ost is an honest, hardworking professional who is very knowledgeable about his craft. We had hired him in the past to install pre-finished hardwood on the second floor of our house as well as a stair railing with posts. He did a superb job and it was clear that he would be the one to replace the hardwood on the main floor. Just recently, Max installed 325 square feet of unfinished 4" white oak hardwood floor and the results are amazing! Max is truly a master of his craft! He works meticulously, with precision and fine attention to detail, strategically cutting and installing each of the floorboards. He is extremely reliable, punctual, tidy and very personable. We know Max from the playground, his daughter and our son are friends. When we decided to install a hardwood floor on the second floor in our house, he was the first one we have called. Max came few days after and he explained to us everything about installation process form the beginning to the end. He advised us about the type of material we should buy, how to prepare the floors and many other things. He told us when he can come to do the installation and helped us to arrange the delivery of the hardwood. The installation started the same day he promised and it was done exactly as he said. The installation was done perfectly. We are very happy because our house looks amazing with the new floors. We were not sure about the color we picked , but Max told us that it is a good choice and he was right. The floors matched perfect with the furniture. Installation was done the very professional way, there was no waste or damaged material. The calculations were done correct and we bought exactly the volume of material we needed. We can recommend NORD- OST to everybody because we are very impressed how everything was done - on time and with very high quality of work. Max is a wonderful person , very friendly and easy to deal with.

Max installed hardwood flooring throughout the lower level of my loft and did an absolutely superb job. Some demolition was taking place at the same time and Max took great care to make sure that the new flooring would not be damaged. The end result is really outstanding. Max takes pride in his work and is anxious to please his customers. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

After having our hardwood floors installed, the last task was to install the transition strips between the hardwood floors and the ceramic tiles. The tiles were not level across the entrance way and in some areas there was at least ¼ inch difference within a small area. We needed about 18 feet of specially made transition strips. We searched through many reviews on Homestars to find someone that would be able to do this for us. After much searching and reading reviews we found Max from Nord-Ost.
After calling Max, he came over and gave us an estimate. He called when he said he would, and he showed up to do the work as promised. He is extremely reliable, friendly, polite, and the quote was very reasonable. He is a perfectionist and made our transition pieces on his table saw. He stained them to match the hardwood and had them fit perfectly between the flooring, tiles and the baseboards. This guy is very talented and professional.
We are very happy with the quality and work done with the transitions. They look beautiful and it’s all thanks to Max.

Imagine asking your friends for the name of the contractor who did extensive renovations on their home and them giving you the name of the stair and flooring specialist they would have preferred to use had time permitted, that’s how we met Max. After seeing the flooring and staircases he installed for their friends, I knew this is who I wanted to replace our staircase. Max did such an incredible job that we had him install hardwood flooring throughout our second floor too.
His attention to detail and craftsmanship is superb. It’s the little things that make the difference, the finger joint moulding he added to the quarter round on the staircase, the transition pieces he handcrafted to accommodate the change in level to the bathroom floors. It is quite apparent from his work that he is an experienced furniture maker as well.
Talk about going above and beyond, the day before he finished the work, I dropped a metal magnet board and put a big gouge in the floor. Max wouldn’t even consider trying to patch the hole, he replaced the whole board!

Excellent Job! We were referred to Max through a contractor family friend who has used Max for his home reno jobs for a number of years. The family friend said that Max was excellent and it turned out to be so true. His quote was super competitive and accommodating on getting the work done around our schedule. He finished two small rooms in a day and was thorough, clean and efficient. Overall excellent as he knows his craft well. We are so pleased with the results, we can't wait to have our upstairs bedrooms done with hardwood in a month.

Max truly the best. I've done my own floors but nothing compares to max. Every detail wa added to make my home perfect. The floors look amazing. Max is an expert at what he does. We did a complete main floor Reno including the kitchen, bathroom, demolition and all floors. When we discussed replacing our hardwood floors, Max came highly recommended from our contractor. Max is truly a master of his craft. He obviously enjoys what he does and has a lot of pride in his work. His precision and attention to detail resulted in a beautiful new floor throughout our home. After the main floor Reno was complete, we asked Max to come back and replace our stairway. He replaced and finished everything including the handrails and balusters. A couple of months later, a guest dropped a heavy object on our new floor and caused some damage. We called Max to ask his advice, he said he would pop in next time he was in our neighborhood. A short while later, he visited us and repaired the damage at no cost. We plan on hiring Max again when we replace our 2nd floor hardwood. He was truly a pleasure to work with.
