HomeStars Reviews FAQ: A Quick Guide

HomeStars Review Questions and Answers

Reviews on HomeStars help you stand out, land you more jobs, and help grow your business. With 88 percent of homeowners reading reviews before making a hiring decision, it’s a no-brainer that reviews are crucial in building your online reputation. At HomeStars, we’ve seen and heard questions both online and offline that relate specifically to HomeStars reviews and recently we just crossed 900,000+ published reviews on our platform. We’ve collected a few common questions about the same to provide some clarity.

1. What are HomeStars Reviews?

HomeStars Reviews help research homeowners make better hiring decisions. All HomeStars review submissions are moderated by our review team which is dedicated to verifying the content of reviews and ensuring they meet our thorough review guidelines. We take these extra measures to make sure homeowners feel confident hiring based on the reviews they read on pros’ profiles and help us keep the reviews as reliable as possible.

2. Are HomeStars Reviews Real?

HomeStars takes review integrity very seriously and has a protocol in place to catch suspicious activity and fraudulent reviews. We pride ourselves on moderating all reviews to ensure the reviews that we post are legitimate. If a pro is caught leaving a fake review(s) they will be penalized accordingly. We urge and support our network of pros to collect honest, authentic reviews from past customers.

3. Can I Delete a Review From My HomeStars Profile?

HomeStars does not delete or remove a review unless an investigation has deemed it necessary. An investigation is warranted if a pro doesn’t recognize the reviewer, the review is for another pro, or if you find the content to be defamatory. Reviews can only be investigated for 60 days after the review is published. Abusing this feature can negatively impact a pro’s Star Score and should be used cautiously.

Negative reviews or inaccurate reviews should be responded to with integrity to show potential customers that you’re a pro who can effectively deal with conflict. Asking for the review to be removed because you simply disagree with the homeowner is a no-no.

4. Why is My Customer’s Review Not Posted?

All reviews on HomeStars are vetted by our Content Integrity Team. This process can take up to 48 business hours from the time of submission. If the review was prompted for verification, and we do not receive a response to a verification email, the review may not be posted. If a customer is having a difficult time posting a review, they can always email rv@homestars.com for help.

5. Can Homeowners Edit Their Reviews?

Yes, a homeowner can edit their review at any time. Every time edits are made to a review, the review is submitted for moderation by the HomeStars Content Integrity Team. The review will be temporarily removed from the listing and a flag will appear while the team verifies the review. During this process, the Content Integrity Team can reject the newly updated review if it does not meet the Review Guidelines. If approved, you will be able to see versions of the review on your listing, and you will receive a notification email stating a previously approved review has been updated. To learn more about the meanings of different flags on your reviews, you can check out our FAQ page.

7. What Are the SEO Benefits of HomeStars Reviews?

Upgraded HomeStars pros see a boost in SEO for a few different reasons. HomeStars has a strong domain authority, is in good standing and is trusted by Google. When a trusted website like HomeStars links to a pro’s website, it helps increase the pro’s own website authority and trust. The same goes for the HomeStars review widget. This trusted backlink helps a pros website become more credible in the eyes of Google. In a nutshell, Google wants to share the most accurate information possible and with HomeStars trusted reputation it’s a known source for reliable content.

8. How Can I Link HomeStars Reviews to Google My Business?

For your HomeStars reviews to populate on your Google My Business account, it’s crucial that your information matches on both platforms. This includes your company website, phone number, and business address. Google’s goal is to ensure users are getting the best experience possible and will lose trust in your business if your details are not consistent.

While we can’t guarantee when your HomeStars reviews will populate, ensuring your content is accurate across the board and collecting reviews frequently will help the turnaround time.
