We decided to install a ductless AC system in our older semi-detached house in Toronto, and contacted five companies for quotes. Nathan from Green Choice responded quickly to our request for a quote and was friendly, professional and provided great insight and suggestions during the initial site visit. The price from Green Choice was substantially lower than any of the four other quotes we received for the same Mitsubishi system, and the Green Choice price included covers for all of the outside lines, which none of the other companies quotes included. We were easily able to arrange a convenient install date, and the friendly Green Choice crew showed up on time, were very professional and left our house surprisingly neat and clean at the end of both days of the two day install. The crew was able to neatly install all of the indoor units exactly where we wanted them. They also managed to install the outdoor unit higher on the outside wall than we had originally anticipated, ensuring it will never be in the way for us or our neighbours. Despite the challenge of installing outside lines for five separate indoor units in a relatively small area, all of the outside work is incredibly neat, with all lines covered and everything tied in very securely. We've had a number of vary hot and humid days since the install, and we couldn't be happier with how the Mitsubishi system has worked so far. We were also pleasantly surprised by the impact (or lack thereof) of the new system on our hydro bill. Overall, we had a great experience with Nathan and the rest of the Green Choice crew and will not hesitate to use them again for any future projects.

We live in an older semi-detached house in east Toronto and we noticed the toilet in our basement washroom wasn’t flushing well and when trying to troubleshoot the problem, we noticed that water had been coming up through the floor drain in the utility room. We called three different plumbers (all well reviewed on HomeStars) and left messages (which were never returned) before finally calling DrainCom. They actually answered the phone and we were able to schedule a plumber visit for first thing the next morning. Mike D. Showed up right on time and after trying the plunger and the snake to no avail, decided to pull the toilet and do a video camera inspection. The camera showed that the sewer line outside was broken and clogged by tree roots. Mike was able to clear enough of the clogs with the power snake to get the water moving, but advised us that we’d need to excavate and replace the pipe to the city line. After we agreed to the excavation work, DrainCom was able to get all the required locates from the city in a day and Mike and his crew showed up bright and early the next morning (a Saturday). They managed to dig down over 9 feet to the pipe via a pretty narrow flowerbed without disturbing our brick walkway or the neighbours concrete walkway – didn’t think it would be possible, but they did it! They pulled a bunch of roots, replaced the pipe and had the trench refilled by mid-afternoon. When they were finished you could barely tell that anything had been done – they were that neat. They even managed to save and replace the three plants that were in the bed. We still have to have the city do some work on their side of the line, but our drains have been working fine so far. Overall this was one of the best experiences we’ve had using any contractor or tradesperson since we’ve been homeowners. Mike was very professional, thorough and always told us exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it. The entire crew was incredibly neat and respectful of our (and our neighbours) property. We will definitely be calling DrainCom for any plumbing issues in the future and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone else.

We had Straight Up Masonry remove an old brick window sill and replace it with a limestone slab, as well as do some tuckpointing on our older Toronto semi. From initial contact to the post-work follow-up, the entire team were a pleasure to deal with. Fair price (lowest of three quotes we received), excellent communication from Tony and Crystal throughout the process, the crew were personable, professional and incredibly neat, and we were very happy with the results. Can't really ask for anything more. We will not hesitate to use Straight Up for any future projects that may arise.
