I call to have a leak inspection done. I was required to provide a credit card number so my card would be charged $495 for a "leak package" once the technician was dispatched to my home. I cancelled the service call a few hours after arranging it, however, my credit card was charged at fee of $280 without me knowing. I called D'Angelo & Son's. They reversed the charge on my credit card, however, were not able to explain why my card was charged. They corrected the problem, however, beware of giving your credit card number to any company prior to any work being done. I will never do that again.

Company Response

Hello JB, unfortunately it seems that you are somewhat mistaken with our charges for services. We clearly explain on the phone that a 50% deposit is required before a technician will come on site, the remaining balance is charged once the job is complete. When you cancelled we reversed the charge but the reason why it occurred in the first place was because of our deposit policy, which is clearly explained to every customer over the phone. I can't understand why our accounting department wouldn't have been able to explain that to you since it has been our policy for years. We apologize for the misunderstanding but thankfully we were able to reverse the charge after your service was cancelled.

The saleman, Charles, is a challenge to work with. He is vague with his answers and very opinionated. He dislikes listening to customers ideas. The install jobs were good and accurately measured, however, on both install jobs the installer failed to attach the mandatory pressure test tags on the new gas lines. These are MAJOR safety violations which could shut this company down. Only the owner/manager was able to put the tag on for us (on request). When I told the owner/manager, Steve, there was no gas safety tag, he replied "your house hasn't blown up yet so it must be okay". The owner came out to my house and put the pressure test tags on the gas lines as requested, however, he never performed the mandatory leak tests because he assumed the installer did it previously. Poor salesman and disregard for safety and laws makes me give this company a poor review. I do not recommend this company to anyone. The good news is the fireplaces look good and my house hasn't blown up yet.

Intital sales was terrific. Danny promissed everything and set up a start date. It was great until they took my deposit then I never heard from them for weeks. They did not show up as scheduled. After repeated calls to them, they finally started the job 4 weeks late.
