My wife an I completed a major Gut renovation last year (through this year) and broke the bank many times over. When we replaced the furnace and ducting this winter, we decided to hold off on the AC until the spring. Well one thing led to another, and we did not have the funds to install the AC. As you all know, this summer has been brutal, and after selling some stuff that we had around the house to raise some cash, we decided to break down and get the AC installed. We called a few contractors including the one who did the furnace, and the prices were still too high for our limited budget. We found Cozy World while researching different AC units, and thanks to the reviews here, felt confident that Boris and Cozy World would not only provide a cost effective solution, but quality installation and service. We purchased a Goodman 13 Seer unit (which was not eligible for rebates) based on their warranty and reputation/reviews on the web. We purchased the 1.5 ton unit on a recommendation regarding the size of our home, and am thoroughly impressed. The unit is super quiet, cools like crazy and actually looks pretty good against our house. Fred the installer came right on time as promised, with his apprentice, and were extremely efficient. When they arrived they placed drop clothes through the entire path to the furnace room, and every time they would use a tool, it would be cleared and placed back in their truck. The entire install took about 3 hours (New install unit on bracket, new coil, electrical etc.) and despite our finished basement, the only drywall that was disturbed was a 5 inch square hole they needed to cut to feed the hoses through the ceiling. Fred asked if it would be OK to cut a small hole, and once I agreed he proceeded to remove a small piece while holding a box underneath to catch all of the debris. Although I never met Boris (We spoke on the phone and email many times) he was very helpful and professional. He returned my calls immediately, responded to questions without delay, and was flexible with our payment terms. I would recommend Cozy WOrld without hesitation to anyone that requires Heating / Cooling work done in their home. They are true professionals, and provide quality work and communication throughout the process. Thanks for making our home Cozy!

Wow...We hired SF stone to do the tiling and finishing of our recently gutted bathroom, based on nothing other than their internet site. They had not yet signed on to homestars, and I was a little bit nervous. Serge came to estimate the job, and constantly assured me that I had nothing to worry about. He was right! Even our framer said "This guy knows what he is talking about" and he was right too! Serge sent two of his guys who were polite, respectful, and tidy throughout the week long renovation. They would ask if it was ok to work till 6:00 or 7:00 to move the job forward, they asked us questions as they went along to ensure that the job was being completed the way we wanted it, and not the quickest or easiest. At one point, they were ready to grout the tile, and they opted not to finish that day to ensure the mortar had an adequate curing time whereas most contractors would just want to finish and cash your cheque. They used a large number of very specialized (and expensive) tools, and lots of top quality materials when the cheaper ones would have gone by unnoticed. They took the time to explain the process and ensure that we were involved. SF stone is about the 20th or 30th company that has done work in our house, and they are by far the best. I am glad to see them on homestars, and we will definitely have them back to complete the basement reno when we get around to it. They have a number of professional tradespeople on staff who are specialized in various areas, and complete their respective portions of the job in a timely and professional manner. Serge, it has been a pleasure working with you, and we look forward to the next project!

We recently bought and gutted an 80 year old home in Danforth and Pape area. We completed all of the construction without realizing some of the deficiencies. We called about 9 HVAC contracters, and received about 7 quotes. I had already decided on another contractor however I had already booked Ron Potter from Laird to come in and quote the job. Not expecting much as I was under the impression that a large company would provide an outrageous quote. We had received several quotes that were out of this world! Some would not even quote the job because it was more labour intensive than they would have liked. It seems that there is more money selling furnaces than installing ductwork. Ron came in and looked over the whole job, provided a written quote on the spot, provided the best financing options, and came in over 1000$ less expensive than the next best quote. True to their word, Laird came in 1 week ahead of the job start, and measured up all of the ducts and areas affected. They showed up on day 1 and completed the job on time and on quote. It took three days, and we could not be happier. Our home is comfortable, and damage was minimal. I was actually expecting much more damage as they were installing all new ductwork in a finished home. All of the other contractors were pushing larger furnaces, and Ron was the only one that fit the equipment to the job. When I expressed some uneasiness with the size of the furnace, Ron assured me that it was adequate, and that if it wasn't, he would replace with a bigger one no charge. This was not necessary. This was a large purchase and there are many choices, but LAird surpassed our expectations on every front. What you don't realize when choosing a contractor are some of the following. Laird was respectful of our home (Drop cloths, mess, cleanup etc), they have staff installers that value their jobs and the company reputation. They use a licensed contractor for the chimney liner (which most won't even tell you you need until after you sign on the dotted line) which means that they are bonded and insured to be on your roof. They have 24 hour service and support, just try and call your HVAC contractor in the middle of the night and see if they answer! They have a furnace service plan, and have been in business for longer than I have been alive. We were ecstatic with the work we received, and would not hesitate to use and recommend Laird to anyone looking for a contractor. I also had an opportunity to visit their offices, and meet some of the other staff when delivering a cheque, and was treated with respect and courtesy. Highly recommended!
