3/10

The good: the guys that moved my things, did so at a fairly quick pace. This was the reason I gave 3/5 for how satisfied I was with the company. The bad: everything else. I was promised a 26' truck with 3 movers at a specific time (with 5 wardrobe boxes). A 24' truck arrived with only 2 movers - and they were 30 mins late (and only brought 2 wardrobe boxes). (I had told them ahead of time that everything wouldn't fit in a 24' truck as I had moved fairly recently - and it didn't all fit. I had to move things on my own driving back and forth after the fact.) Then when they moved the items to the destination, but before they unloaded, they demanded payment in full or they would not unload the truck. I was feeling quite nervous at this time as they could have left with my posessions as well as the cash, so we had someone stand guard near the truck. They damaged a wall at the entranceway, they damaged a dresser and they broke an antique dining room chair. Do they have insurance? They claimed they did. Can you make a claim? No. I tried to contact the staff several times via email and also via online chat and no one ever responded to me. Please take care when you make a decision regarding the company that moves your posessions. An extra few dollars could save you a lot of stress and disappointment later on.

What could this company do to improve their services?
The company should abide by written agreement. If damages are incurred, the company should make right on those. The fees should be requested/paid when the job is complete. No one should threaten to leave with your posessions at the halfway point.

Assisted Review

An assisted review is collected by a contractor on behalf of the homeowner after their work is completed. The homeowner must confirm the text of the review and may make any changes she or he deems appropriate. The homeowner then assigns the contractor a review score out of 10. Assisted reviews receive the same scrutiny as other reviews and must follow our review guidelines.

We had the full inspection as we were purchasing a 95 year old home. It took quite a long time in total to do the inspection, the infrared scan and the air (mold) test, but we received much more information than we thought we would. We received a full report with photos, notes and examples of what things should look like vs. what they actually look like; a very handy reference tool that we will be using as we move forward. Would I rather pay less and get someone to be in and out in an hour+ and tell me it's basically a good house, only to find out after moving in that there are many issues to address, as is often the case? Not a chance. We wanted to know exactly what we were walking into before it happened, and we found that out plus a whole lot more. We know (with as much certainty as possible without ripping down walls) what our house will need as far as maintenance, repairs, to-dos and 'immediate action' items. We know there are some things to address, so we are well-prepared. Tom was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, thorough, and clear in his explanations of everything that he noted. He took the time to make sure that we understood and he answered all questions at the time and followed up to see if we had questions about the report at a later date. I found Clearview Home & Property Inspections here on Homestars, and the ratings were true to our experience. I can be quite a particular person when it comes to details and accuracy, and I am extremely pleased with the level of detail and customer service that we received. I would recommend Clearview to anyone wanting a home inspection. You will not be disappointed.
