We hired Paul to renovate our tiny bathroom, but we also wanted a longer tub. Paul was the only contractor that we spoke to who took the time to research and suggest the appropriate products for us to choose from. We ended up splurging a bit (since this is our only full bathroom in the house, and wanted it to be really nice) and added things like a heated towel rail and underfloor heating - which is super nice now the cold weather has arrived. Paul pays extremely close attention to detail and certainly doesn't cut corners (in fact I'd say he's a bit of a perfectionist). We chose a rather 'challenging' tile option - lots of long narrow tiles from floor to ceiling. He measured multiple times and layed out the tiles, and levelled the floor & ceiling all around (which definitely were not level to start with), to make sure that there were a whole number of tiles that just fit. The result is spectacular and I'm sure could have looked awful if a cheaper contractor without that level of care had done it. We also had regular check ins each day to review progress and go over any design choices / questions.

Company Response

This was exceptional renovation to participate in. It brought out the best in us. What made this project most special was the collaborative working relationship with Dave. Dave was actively engaged on a daily bases which made our job so much easier.

I got Jorgensen to replace my old shingles last fall. I got quotes from 2 companies, both through word of mouth and both had very similar quotes. The work ended up being done a couple of weeks later than promised, although this wasn't really a concern. It was completed quickly since I left for work one day and came back to find it all complete. Although I didn't meet the crew I appreciated that they moved garden planters and were mindful of the flower beds - in fact the yard was tidier than when they came! Very happy - I would have given 10/10 if they had let me know ahead of time exactly when they were coming (although in the end it wasn't an issue).

[Belated review - new to Homestars] I contracted MacKay & Sons a few years ago to provide exterior wall insulation after an EcoEnergy home assessment. I heard about them through word of mouth and after meeting the owner I decided to proceed. To be honest I only got 1 quote, but since it was less than the EcoEnergy rebate I was already qualified for at the time, and I liked the owner and the references, I went ahead. The work was efficient and they made sure to fill the drill holes with grout that matched my existing brickwork. To this day, you have to look very hard to know the work was done. Very happy, especially since my bills have come down and the EcoEnergy grant paid for every penny of it.
