Ali inspected and cleaned out our basement sump pump. He was exceptionally polite and professional. He explained everything he did, and made sure I had a solid understanding of how the sump pump operates, how to maintain it, and how to know when it's not working and what I need to do if/when that happens.

Carlos and his team are the exception; they're professional, honest, thorough, and a genuine pleasure to have around. I've done major renos with other excellent contractors, but I still felt like I needed to be monitoring to make sure the job was done properly, and inevitably discovered little mistakes or problems after they left. And of course, even the best contractors end up taking longer or costing more than they said they would. Carlos, on the other hand, gets the job done on time and on budget, and his work is standing the test of time (and he stands by it long after he's left). The few times there were concerns, he was the first to bring them to my attention and resolve them, so I never had to worry. He also goes beyond just not cutting corners: I once mentioned to him that I was struggling to find a specific size of hood fan, and when I came home the next day, there it was. I've passed his name on to friends and neighbours who've all had the same positive experiences and we all agree, we'll never use anyone else.

I've used neighbourhood people to clear my snow in previous winters, but now that I have tenants living at my property, I thought I should go the professional route to be sure that the walkways were always properly cleared for them. Turns out I was better off saving my money and hiring a local teen. I've had to reach out to Monster Plowing a couple of times this winter to ask them to please send someone back to clear my sidewalk. (They only seem to like to do my shortest walkway, which I usually do myself long before they get here.) More recently, the longest walkway on the property has been so neglected that it has become dangerously built up with thick layers of snow and ice. When I asked them about it, Monster Plowing informed me that the walkway can't possibly be kept clear because snow is falling off of my (flat!) roof onto it. The local kids I've used in the past didn't seem to have nearly as much trouble keeping up, and were much more pleasant to deal with, so I'll be going back to them next year without hesitation.
