OMG!!!! Quite an experience. It would take me pages to describe how BAD this experience was. Don't get me wrong, if you want very pleasant people being very nice all the time, this is a good place to start. Also, the tradespeople were all very good, skilled and pleasant. But if you want professional designs and planning that will be executed with some level of competancy, this is NOT the place. Please contact me for details before you use Monarch. I also have plans for two bathrooms renos to be done, but I won't be using these guys. Here are must some of the issues. Cabinets damaged in transit but they installed them anyways. Wrong tabletop ordered but they installed it anyways. New cabinets installed before plumbing work was done. Well it was a very expensive lessons learned for me. I will know much better next time.

Company Response

Dear Wayne
We recently reviewed your comments about your renovation experience with Monarch Kitchen & Bath Centre and we agree that the renovation didn’t proceed as smoothly as we had planned and we welcome this opportunity to respond to your comments.

After presenting you & Karen with 4 different design plans, you both selected the design that you felt best suited your interests and needs and we entered into our agreement on April 23rd. As is our normal practice, we prepared a Renovation Schedule for your project and we make every effort to adhere to the schedule, however there can be unforeseen issues that arise during the course of a renovation, and it has always been our policy at Monarch that we make every effort to correct any issues/problems as expediently as possible so as not to inconvenience our clients.

As per the schedule, from August 3rd through August 9th, we commenced the removal of your old kitchen and completed the required electrical and plumbing rough-ins as required to accommodate your new kitchen. We delivered your new cabinetry on August 9th and the installation took place from August 10th to August 15th. The countertop fabricator templated for your countertops and table top on August 15th and these items were installed on August 29th. All of this was done as per our schedule and you did have a working kitchen on August 31st.

However, we agree there were many deficiencies unfortunately but these were corrected. There were shipping damages to 3 of the 14 cabinets, as well several of doors and drawer fronts had to be reordered. Replacement items were ordered and installed. The table top that the countertop fabricator made was not made to the correct dimensions and we advised them to remove this table top and refabricate it properly. They removed it on September 6th and returned with the correct table top and installed this on September 14th, after which we were able to complete the backsplash installation.

The plumber was supposed to investigate and report back to us on a pre-existing leak in your basement, which he neglected to do. This was added to the subsequent service order and was corrected.

All of us at Monarch value your business and because of the issues/inconveniences you endured, we installed a new valance and shelf at your window area and provided several accessories to you at no charge. We agree with you totally that the service items should have been completed in a timelier manner, however, we never attempted to shirk our responsibilities to you, our valued client. At Monarch, we’re not done any renovation until our clients are totally satisfied and we strive very diligently to ensure that at the end of the renovation, you are satisfied!

We hope you will consider the facts above and realize that we did everything we could to provide you both with the kitchen of your dreams. We invite you to post pictures of your beautiful new kitchen on Home Stars. We value the trust you placed in us and we are always here for you. We hope that we can regain your confidence and we thank you for your business.

Kind regards
Neil B. Samson

Noticed wasps were entering in the soffit at the rear of the house. Tried to use some commercial Wasp remover spray to get rid of the pests, but they would keep coming back after a day or two. Time to call the Pros. Check out Homestars for reviews and decided on GTA. Called them in the AM and by the afternoon my problem had been resolved. I know I was lucky that GTA just happened to be on their way to another call in the area and were able to fit me in as well. The team was efficient, careful, professional. Taking time to understand the problem, and explaining what they were going to do. I would definitely recommend this company.

Company Response

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a positive review about our service. We thank you again so much and are happy that everything went smooth. About 99% of our jobs run smooth. When they don't that's when the real test of a company's merit shines through. Thanks Kevin/Troy

I was having Carpet, Hardwood and Tile intalled on two floors. The employees in the store we very helpful. Explained everything about their products and process. Were timely and on time in coming out to provide estimates. Their estimates were broken down so that particulars could be discussed and negotiated. The contractors that came out were on time and excellent in the quality and workmanship of the install. The installer's also took my into account as a person and suggested items to reduce cost or improve the install without additional cost. Everyone on the D&S team were friendly, efficient and professional. I actaully look forward to an opportunity to recommend this team to others.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Keep up the good work.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Shop around. Get at least three estimates and definitely give Dodds and Souter a call.
