I’ve always been amazed at how some people will spend large sums of money on home improvements without first investing in any type of detailed plan. I’m a firm believer that good planning, a realistic budget and hiring the right people will get you the results that you’re hoping for. I feel very fortunate to have chosen Welwyn Wong Landscape Design last spring to come up with a landscape plan for the front and rear of my Ottawa freehold townhouse. Welwyn was the only Landscape Designer at the 2014 Ottawa Home and Garden Show who listened to my challenges with the exterior front and rear areas of my home and immediately came up with brilliant and creative solutions. Other Landscape companies that I approached at the same show kept telling me what I couldn’t do. I had researched Ottawa Landscape companies online prior to the show and was already impressed by Welwyn’s portfolio. I booked a consultation while at the show . I asked Welwyn to transform the front and rear areas of the west end Ottawa townhouse that I had moved into February 2014. I was afraid that the areas were too small to be within her scope. There were also the challenges of having to allow the townhouse next door access through my rear postage stamp of a yard and a front entry with absolutely no hope of curb appeal. Welwyn braved the cold, melting snow and frozen dog poop left in the rear yard by the previous owner to check out the situation first hand. She worked with her brilliant team to survey and draft incredible detailed landscape, planting and lighting plans for the front and rear of my Ottawa townhouse. Welwyn and her team were professional, excellent communicators, and always considerate. She suggested decking materials, appropriate plants for the soil and climate conditions, referred professional trades and guided me throughout the process. I selected the referred contractors who all turned out to be top notch. They executed Welwyn’s design plans with quality workmanship. Now that the building and planting project has been completed, the exterior of my townhouse has been totally transformed. I now have a beautiful entryway with curb appeal, and a new rear balcony, deck and garden area that far exceeded my expectations. It’s a joy to welcome company and spend time entertaining and relaxing on my new patio. I am so delighted with the results. I bought an older Mimico home that had a small rear addition with a deck attached. The crawlspace underneath the addition had never been cleaned or maintained previously which seriously compromised the air quality and comfort level of my home. Dave from Clarke Basements came promptly after my call to advise on the scope of work required and provided a reasonable quote. The clean-up and encapsulation was completed today. Jose and John were the crew assigned. They arrived promptly, as scheduled, and were very efficient and professional. Jose and John definitely exceeded my expectations with respect to the clean-up and the care that they took to ensure that the crawlspace was properly encapsulated and made more secure. I'm very impressed with the service ethic at Clarke Basement Systems. Their service model appears to embody a strong focus on customer service at all client interaction points. Their office administration, sales and field operations teams were very personable and demonstrated excellent communication skills. I appreciated the phone calls and e-mails reconfirming appointments and work to be completed. I'm so happy that I noticed them and picked up a brochure from their booth at the Fall Cottage Life Show!
