Jeff, the owner/operator at Cypress, is like an HVAC genius. I consulted seven companies because I had very specific outcomes I wanted in replacing my furnace and adding a/c. Ultimately, I went with Cypress because Jeff obviously put by far the most thought into how to set up the best possible system for my family's needs. He spent about 3X more time than anyone else assessing the situation, and quickly followed up by email and phone to answer the series of questions I had and explain all the theory behind his recommendations. When the time came for the install, Jeff came when we promised and everything went just like he said it would. He also kept us updated on progress over the multiple day installation and was always really thoughtful about noise and disruptions to our days (working from home). Most importantly, he did really careful work - even prompting a compliment from the gas inspector who said that he didn't see many installs done as nicely these days. Overall, Jeff is a really nice guy who knows a tonne about furnaces and is super easy to deal with. Whether you have a complicated situation that requires a specific solution, or just want someone honest, knowledgable, and reliable, I would definitely recommend giving Cypress a call.

I've had a great experience with Good Guys. They finished installing a ductless heat pump for me this week, and everything was very smooth from start to finish. They showed up on time every day (3 days), took their time to do really quality work, and were very conscientious about cleaning up, working around obstacles etc. A lot of contractors I've dealt with expect you to bend over backwards to accommodate their work, but these guys just took care of everything. All the installers (Ryan, Jacob, Sean) were really professional, but also very nice and personable. One of them even played with my lonely cat who was cooped up and lonely. Also, the receptionist (Jacqueline I think) is super nice and helpful. They aren't the cheapest option, but I think it's worth it for the quality.

Whether it’s a small job or a large one, if you need a plumber you should absolutely call Watermark. Graeme, the owner, is probably the most reliable and conscientious tradesperson I’ve ever dealt with. He just finished a 5+ day project at my house and I couldn’t be happier. In addition to being reliable and conscientious, he’s honest and meticulous, and his rates are better than the competition. What more could you want? After soliciting quotes from several other companies to repipe my house, I was getting frustrated by the delays, the runaround, and the seemingly inflated quotes. In my frustration I started calling smaller companies, and one plumber I called couldn’t do the work but recommended Graeme. After calling him, he came to my house the next day and started the project a couple days later. Now it’s all done, long before (and for less money) than it would have been from any of the big local plumbing companies. Here’s what you get (in my experience) from Graeme and Watermark, and how my experience has compared with other plumbers: 1) He tells you when he’s coming, and then actually shows up at that time!!! Anyone who has waited through the three hour window given by a lot of companies, only to have to wait another couple hours will know what a big deal this is. 2) The person (Graeme) overseeing the project is the same one doing the actual work, so I always had confidence that things were being done as we had discussed. This is a big contrast from the larger companies, where someone comes out and gives you a quote, and then a couple other technicians show up to do the work. 3) He does meticulous work. My project was on a fixed price, so you would expect someone to work as quickly as possible, but Graeme took his time and made sure everything was right. My impression was that he takes real pride in doing good work. 4) He’s an honest, down-to-earth guy with a lot of integrity. My project involved a number of unexpected hurdles, but he completed it for the previously agreed upon price, even after I offered to pay extra for the time he spent on some unanticipated problems, that were actually unrelated to the project (e.g. he had to dig up my curb shut-off because it had filled with dirt). 5) Both Graeme, and the assistant on the project, Ali, are pleasant, respectful guys. They went to great effort to minimize the impact of their presence on our lives, which was especially appreciated because my wife is home all day with a 2-month old baby. For example, all the other companies told me the water would have to be shut off while they worked, but Watermark built the entire new piping system beside the old pipes, and then only shut off the water for part of a day at the end. 6) As I mentioned, their rates are much better than the larger companies I’ve hired (or gotten quotes from), whether it’s hourly or for a quoted project. Sorry for the long review, but I spent so much time calling and meeting different plumbers for this project that I’m hoping I can save that time for someone else. If you’re in a similar situation, I would urge you to call Graeme and see whether he’s available to do whatever you need.

I'm so happy I found Rain City Renovations, and that Jon agreed to take my job (which was relatively small but also a little complicated). My rooftop deck had been leaking for years and we decided it was time to get rid of the crappy original build and do it right. Here is a summary of my experience: - Everything always happened when I was told it would, and the job took only slightly longer than the original estimate. - The workmanship is great. - Jon and his guys are all a pleasure to deal with - Jon always called me back quickly or emailed me when I had questions or requests, and he went above and beyond to humour my anxieties about preventing future leaks. His guys were always friendly and happy to indulge my questions when I popped up to see how things were going. - In the small number of times when things didn't go quite as planned (really minor things), Jon immediately did everything he could to fix the situation. - Jon always listened to my questions and talked with me logically and truthfully about the options and what he recommended in how to proceed with things. He never blew me off and just did what he felt like, so in the end I feel like I got exactly what I wanted. Overall we had a great experience. There are probably companies that are a little cheaper, but Rain City is well worth what you pay. Now I have a beautiful deck, and even more importantly, peace of mind.
