These folks were the guys I called a couple months ago when we had a big storm come through and tear off a few shingles. The rainwater came down in buckets because it went all the way through and into the ceiling above my grown boy's room. Left a mighty ugly stain by the air-duct, but that is another repair for another review... Soon as I saw the stain and figured it must have been the storm, I called my cousin Kevin who recommended Roofwerks. (I get most of my home repairs from family referrals). They came out right away and fixed up the roof. They even did a good job matching up the new shingles with the old. I was hoping they'd be able to do that. They did good work and sure helped me out when I was in a bind.

I had a small section of hardwood flooring in my dining room that had been scratched up pretty heavily by our children when they were younger. It was in the corner and all I wanted to do was put a big plant over top of it, but that idea didn't please the wife. I found a coupon for Wakefield Flooring in the weekly advertisements that come in the mail. Even though the scratched area was small, I had to end up resurfacing the whole room so everything would match. These folks did a great job for us and were out in less than a day. I thought it would take longer with the staining process and all, but it was pretty quick. I also thought the sanding would make big mess, but they did a good job of keeping the dust to a minimum.

My story starts with a rain storm about three months ago. We got a pretty good soaking and it wasn't until a few days after the rains that I discovered a water spot on the ceiling of a bedroom I rarely visit. The water had come in around the air vent fixture and made my popcorn ceiling pretty soggy. Color Spectrum was recommended to my by someone else so I figured I'd give them a shot. If I had more time on my hands I may have been willing to cut out the stain, find the leak and do it myself... but as time is short these days, it was easier to hire someone. These folks came out right away to do an estimate and had me squared away that very next weekend. The workman seemed very knowledgeable and his assistant did a good job keeping everything tidy. I can't speak for their painting work, but they're total pros with drywall. If I don't get around to finishing out the garage myself, these guys will definitely get a call from me.

I hired Dave McManus of McManus Home Repairs to replace about 20% of the siding on my house. I also had several other jobs ranging from reconstruction of the front porch, to fixing the garage door and stabilizing some railings. Mr. McManus completed the repairs in a timely manner and stayed right on budget. What I liked most about his company is that when you hire McManus Home Repairs, you get THE McManus. Work is not subbed out to anyone else. For some of the larger elements of the job, he had a crew with him as well. I was most impressed that none were residents of this country illegally. (No small feat to come across in North Carolina construction work.) I would hire this fella again in a heartbeat and plan to do so again in the coming months.

I was pleased with Clegg's for a number of reasons. 1) The price is better than the big national chains. 2) Their technicians were very friendly and got about the job in a right quick manner. They treated my home with Termidor, which I understand is the leading product right now in the industry. The protection is supposed to last something like 10 years. I will also have them come out every year and re-inspect and re-treat if needed for $125. That amount is also much cheaper than the big national chains. In summary, I liked the fact that Clegg's is a family business that is still run by the Clegg's family. I feel more confident that if I were to have a problem, they would be able to resolve it.
