I couriered our slow cooker for repair and when Cuisinart return shipped it to me the inside pot arrived in pieces. I called customer service and they tried to tell me it arrived that way. I wasn't buying that and then told me it wasn't their product, so I guess they didn't care how they shipped it back. I explained there was virtually no packing inside the box. No apologies, no sympathy, just excuses and blaming. I will never purchase another Cuisinart or Conair product and will tell anyone who will listen about their "so-called" customer service. No service there.

We hired Stairs R US in 2005 to renovate our existing stairs from the main floor to the upstairs. A new hardwood stair was installed and the risers had a thin oak piece glued on so it looked like oak. A new railing was installed and the boxed in stairs on the right side in the pictures was opened. The problem began when we noticed the owner was not supervising his workers, who whenever I saw them had a cell phone to their ear. When asked where dad was, we were told he'll be here soon. When the job was finished there were definite problems. When looking from the front door, one stair half way up looked to be on a slant and the railing had two rungs on one stair. There was a hole that I could put my finger through on the riser where the two rungs were situated, unseen in the pictures. The bottom stair was not to code. The railings weren't flush with the handrail as seen in the pictures. We called several times asking Stairs R Us to look and fix the problems. Never came. A letter was mailed and never responded to. Fortunately, only a deposit was given and they never saw the balance. The stairs looked horrible and cheap. We hired a second company who ripped out completely the Stairs R Us stairs and replaced the poor quality work done by Stairs R Us. I would not recommend them as a company who supplies good quality or one that stands behind their product or service.

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Check the company out thoroughly. We thought we did due diligence, but we should have done more.

This company was little more expensive then other companies we had quote on our kitchen renovation, but he was a master electrician, so thought the job would handled more professionally. The job involved new ceiling and under counter lighting. The cupboards were removed so full access was available to preinstall the electrical for the under counter lights. After the cupboards were installed the electrician returned to finish the install. My husband called me at work in a panic because they drilled a half inch hole in the bottom of our new cabinets to run the conduit up the inside back. When I got home, there was a large silver wire running up the inside corner of the cabinet. I asked if this was normal because I'd never seen this before in other peoples cabinets. My husband later insisted he install the lights properly with the silver wire behind the drywall. He corrected it, but why wouldn't he have done it right the first time when the cabinets were down? We were very upset. Also, he insisted that an electrical outlet must be installed at the end of the counter. We explained we didn't need or want it. He did it anyway, regardless of our wishes, and the caulking he used to secure the plate, turned the area around the plate yellow. We replaced the end panel, which was paid for by the electrician and before having the electrical outlet installed sgain, we contacted the Electrical Safety Authority to review the situation. They informed us that an end electrical outlet was not required. So, why didn't he contact ESA to make the judgement call? After all it was our kitchen and we were the customer. We would not reccommend or use this company again. Our impression was that he thought he knew what should be done, without communicating to us or taking our wants into consideration. There were needless complications and aggrevations.

This sounds almost word for word, the same scenario we went through with the Kitchen Centre. They seemed anxious to be of service and promised we wouldnt be dissatisfied. Once they had our money, there were no more nice discussions. Like Ernie, we were told we'd have to pay upfront to have him come to the house and the installer was as frustrated as we were. Kitchen being delivered in bits and pieces, with no explanation, no communication. We also paid for painted MDF and were given painted vinyl. As Ernie stated a very inferior product. When I spoke to them about the painted vinyl, I was told I got what was in the contract. I don't know what contract he was looking at, but my contract said painted MDF. Don't trust this company and I would never recommend them to anyone.
