Avoid BCRC Contracting

I hired BCRC Contracting to do some work on my house: vinyl install, squaring an archway and installing a pocket door. I dealt with the owner Dave . Found him through HomeStars. There are some issues and red flags from day 1 but I ignored them since Dave seemed like a nice enough guy.

All the work cut corners and had flaws. However, this review will focus on the pocket door which is requires a complete redo.

Immediately upon installation, I reached out to Dave to advise him about the issues with the pocket door and he assured me it would be fixed. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I told him I was fine to pay for the work in full on the condition the pocket door was fixed - he assured me it would be fixed and I paid.

Since then, I have contacted Dave many times asking for the door to be fixed. However, it has been almost a month and Dave has ignored my messages and/or otherwise refused to fix the pocket door.

I have a July 27th occupancy deadline that Dave is aware of. I have had many trades attend the property since and received second opinions on the pocket door and each contractor has advised it needs to be taken down completely and redone. The issues with the pocket door include: being framed on an angle and with a 2x4 on bottom (resulting in gap); the drywall not being attached to the frame; large gaps on the bottom and right and it scratches in 2 spots when opening and closing.

I told Dave this but offered for him to just fix the scraping and gaps - which he has refused to do.

Lesson learned not to trust people and pay in full.
