while a dead gas ignitor was the reason for the call, Evgeny uncovered a worse problem...the gas stove that we have used since we moved in ~15 years ago had NOT BEEN CORRECTLY INSTALLED ! Shoddy work which those people had to know was against code . Thank you for fixing it !
