Create A Scape

Wish I would have had a crystal ball when we hired Create-a-Scape. Would have run backwards and not wasted the money on hard scape construction from this group. The jobsite should have been monitored by a competent foreman for quality assurance. The students that were doing the work (assuming thats who they hire for seasonal labor) were left to perform a task that they obviously had ‘no’ experience doing before. The wall they slapped together wound up falling over onto a neighbor’s fence. The cost to remove their failed installation was horrific. Knowing what I now know these guys would have never been considered. I could have purchased a good used car for what I paid. Live and learn.

We paid a premium for a raised natural rock raised planter installation and based on the $ quote we believed it would stand the test of time. In less than 3 seasons 2 walls out of 3 began to list over. Even though they poured a significant concrete footing for the rock to be placed on, the leaning continued. We had no alternative but to have the rock removed (at a very high cost and install an Allan block system) which should have been offered by Kent when initially on site before any work commenced. Be advised that landscape warranties are short term and when poor workanship is part of the equation I’d say look at another vendor. The key reasons for failure was the spartan use of adhesive and the inattention by the ‘student labourers’ to the shape of irregular
mating surfaces inherent to natural rock.

Kent at Create-A-Scape is an excellent landscape contractor. I have had various contract work done in the past including building a home, and he is definitely one of the best. He designed and completed our front yard several years ago and we hired him again to do the back yard the next year. The initial jobs were done very well, as planned and on time with polite and reliable crew. What is most amazing though is his dedication to follow up an ensure the job is done well. He returned to repair some steps that had shifted with frost and returned within a few days OVER A YEAR later to redo a step (due to the grade had iced up over the winter and prevented garage door opening in a way that was difficult to predict initially). All adjustment and repair work was done rapidly and without charge, which was way above my expectations. I don't think this is the cheapest landscaping company in upfront costs, but for value obtained and reliable excellent work that will be done right if something needs adjusting, it is one of the best landscaping companies anywhere.
