Celsky Vinyl Sundecks & Railings

Celsky VInyl Sundecks and Railing worked on our back yard while we were away on holidays. Our back stairs were replaced, our deck had new vinyl applied & the back fence (40 feet) was replaced with new posts and fence sections. When we returned, we had missed all of the messy construction portion of the work and had a beautiful new pressure treated fence installed. The back stairs (which were rotten through) had been removed and new supports and treads were installed. The bottom landing had been replaced and the main deck had a soft spot replaced then both were covered in Tufdeck vinyl.
The railings were installed a few weeks later (had to be delivered by the manufacturer). All the work was done flawlessly. No after work was needed. Ken and company did an excellent job. Our new deck has improved the value of our home, and given us a safe and great place to spend time.

Ken was prompt with his quote, started and finished the job when he said he would and kept the site clean. Our two decks turned out fantastic, we couldn't be happier! Ken's after service care was great as well. He came back to repair some things the contractor had damaged. We would definitely use Ken again.

The deck looks great, very pleased with the selection of vinyl options. The job was done on time, at the price quoted and the job site was left clean. Everyone was very pleasant to deal with.

It’s often difficult to find a reputable contractor to get the job done properly not to mention someone close by. I feel lucky that I’ve found one. It was a pleasant experience to work with Ken at Celsky to restore my sundeck. Ken is extremely hard working and experience, and most important of all he looks at things from a homeowner’s prospective. The project was beautifully and efficiently done. In addition to that, here are a few things that I want to thank him for:

1) The old deck was built decades ago and he saved some old but still in good shape wood sidings for me in case I need some for future repairs around the house as those are hard to find nowadays and could possibly be forever obsolete.

2) He cares about quality of work and did a thorough cleanup and even picked up debris by hand from my lawn.

3) He noticed there was a missing screw on my fence gate and he fixed it as if it was his own.

4) After repair was completed, I needed to get a new u-bracket to mount the clothesline post to the side of the staircase. I tried a few hardware stores without success but Ken managed to find one. I hope he didn’t spend hours in front of his computer to get that.

Ken and his team did a fantastic job repairing our two leaking decks which were constructed wrong in the first place. Everything down to the wood joists were replaced and installed correctly. One deck was also extended by 3ft with new stairs as well as new railings and glass awning installed.
Ken was very responsive to my emails and concerns throughout the entire project. He also listened to some of my suggestions and provided good reasoning in other cases of why it's not done.
His crew works really fast once the materials arrive.
Our decks were completed in 3-4 days. A time frame of 3-4 weeks were given at the beginning of the project for all of the aluminum railings and awning. So while it took around a month to receive the railings and awning, it was expected and everything was installed in 1-2 days of it arriving.
Overall Celsky is a great company and great to work with.

If you’re looking for a top sundeck company in the lower mainland and this is the first one you’re vetting, then count yourself lucky. We’ll never get back the hours we spent meeting with other Vancouver deck experts to quote on our Burnaby project, but we hope we’ll be able to save you the same trouble. When my husband and I took the home ownership plunge with a fixer-upper (can you get anything else with these prices??), we knew it wouldn’t be easy. After nearly drowning in all the frustrations that come with major renovation, and vowing never to deal with another contractor again, we stepped out onto our patio to enjoy the summer and felt the heart-dropping telltale crunch of rotting wood beneath our feet. After a deep breath, we steeled ourselves for Round 2: Outdoor Match. Imagine our surprise when we found ourselves relaxed after just the preliminaries! We had a feeling we were dealing with the right company when Jim showed up to diagnose our aging deck. Clearly experienced, he educated us on what the problems were and offered practical deck repair solutions. He expertly worked within our limited budget and demanding timeline and with that, set the momentum for the rest of Project Patio.

When Ken pulled into our driveway on Day 1 and delayed the initial pleasantries by getting straight to work, we knew the man meant business. For the next week, his team impressed us with their commendable work ethic and efficiency. If they took breaks, it must’ve been when I blinked!

To our dismay, a painstaking operation of fibreglass removal exposed many pockets of additional deck rot that had been hidden by the original surface. This is when Ken’s attention to detail won us over. He could have very easily masked trouble areas without addressing them and we wouldn’t have been the wiser. Instead, he delivered on his promise to repair our decks as if they were his own, showing us and explaining his process along the way (with a shared library of progress photos, no less!). Needless to say, waterproofing our decks is now of paramount importance. Though we found Celsky’s Tufdek product very appealing, we opted for a liquid membrane application that leaves a seamless polyurethane deck coating of MasterSeal (formerly Sonoguard Base Coat) which we were happy to learn can bear even car traffic.

When you see a deck contractor clearly proud of his own craft, you know you’re in capable hands. That’s why when Ken recommended we replace our equally aging and structurally unsound stairs, we didn’t hesitate to move forward with the added job. Now we have treated wood stairs built with 3 stringers instead of 2 and properly supported by sturdy legs that Ken playfully encourages us to bounce on. Though unexpected, the additional cost associated with the repair of hidden deck rot and a new set of steps was very reasonable and didn’t break the bank.

Thank you Ken & Co., for beautifully installing our new fascia-mounted black aluminum railings (which look fabulous against our matching new deck flashings!), and building us the much safer stairs that lead up to the amazing sundecks to which you have breathed new life. We also greatly appreciate all the advice and recommendations for work we have yet to complete around the house. If only you did interiors, roofs, landscaping…everything really. Let us know when you diversify! ;o)

Needed quick repair to an upper deck. The job was accomplished the next day, and we are very pleased with the work and would recommend to anyone needing deck repairs or a new deck.

Were these guys good.....you bet they were!! Jim gave us the quote and some good ideas too. Ken, the owner kept us informed as to the start date and was right on time. His workers worked quickly and efficiently, did a wonderful job, and cleaned up well when finished. Ken even did some extra work for us! The railings wer installed soon after and are perfect. This is one of the best companies I have ever dealt with and would recommend them very highly.
