Called Mersey Heating and Air conditioning after reviewing their home star ratings to fix our air conditioner as our air conditioner was not cooling our house.Their receptionist was very professional and courteous , was able to fix an appointment quickly. The technician Mr. Resat arrived on May 31st and first discussed about his fee, then he showed me a card that had different colour coded fees, this card showed their repair fees ranging from $1,000 to $ 5,000 (making the repair cost expensive so that they can sell me a new Air conditioner) .Spent about half an hour to check the air conditioner and confirmed and provided in writing that "The compressor Failed, internal overload is open, and recommended that we get a new air conditioner. This technician went to the extend of pulling the fuse of the air conditioner. I mentioned to him that I have lived in many houses and have never experienced a 7 year air conditioners compressor fail and mentioned that there must be some kind of a warranty. Despite this a same day appointment was fixed to meet with a members of the sales team. Since I had my doubt I called another company for a second
opinion. They checked the unit and confirmed that the compressor was not defective and it is in good working condition, attached the suction gauge( which the Mercy technician did as well) and found that the suction was running at 195 psi when ambient suction should be running at 115 psi. This new technician recovered/released the overcharged refrigerant within half an hour of his arrival and the air conditioner started cooling our house. Today June 21st 2022, the heat in Markham is 31 degrees C and our air conditioner with the so called failed compressor is cooling our house at 20 degrees C. Mercy heating & Air conditioning and their technicians tried to sell me an air conditioner that I didn't need by providing a false analysis. I feel very sorry for those who trusted Mercy Heating and Air conditioning's advise and got a new Air conditioner installed by them and gave these guy's a five star rating that they would not have deserved as you might have been unknowingly duped. I will not recommend this company to any one as they are not to be trusted with their advise. No one should be spending money and time in getting second opinion on a company that has been in business for 45 year.???.

Semi annual visit under our prepaid maintenance plan: Nick inspected the system, cleaned the outside unit and checked that the system was operating efficiently. Mersey provides us with first rate service; we have relied on them for years.

Nick was exceptional with servicing the air conditioner. Made recommendations on dos and donts. Also addressed a humidifier filter that was giving me some trouble

We purchased a yearly maintenance programme which helped immensely with a discount on parts when there was a an expensive problem with the furnace.
Recently, Sam inspected our HVAC system.
Sam is very conscientious with great attention to detail, hes also very personable.
We feel comfortable with any of the Mersey technicians in our home.

Technician John P. arrived exactly on time for our annual air conditioning system maintenance. He was extremely thorough and efficient and clear with his findings. Because I was needed to change the thermostat, I was present when he discovered a leak in our 16 year old system. He didn't just discover it, he persisted to find the extent of it and whether it was continuous and spent a good deal of time checking and rechecking. When he brought in the paperwork he had some suggestions for a replacement. We had used Mersey before with our furnace which we had purchased through Costco. John very quickly filled in a Costco A/C purchase, set a date for delivery, and gave us the same price he had previously quoted. On top of that Costco gives a 10% shop card so we win all way around.

There was absolutely NO pressure on us to buy. I had witnessed the leak so knew this was necessary. John could not say how long our present one would last but outlined the scenarios that would occur as the leak progressed - and our system is old so leaking Freon is not good for the environment.

The very next day, Stephen and Shane arrived as scheduled to remove the leaking A/C and install our new one. They were completely courteous, respectful of our home and worked diligently. They removed the old unit, installed a new concrete platform for the new unit and, in addition, they installed an outside breaker (we did not have one) and we will be getting new panel breakers to bring us up to code. Work areas both inside and out were left spotless. They showed us the new system and assisted with the paperwork. The whole process was efficient and quick.

Mersey is a GREAT company to use for HVAC. As of now, they expertly installed our furnace, water heater and central air conditioner, provide hassle free yearly maintenance and are always pleasant and easy to work with.

Mersey conducted a diagnostic and repair for a total of $1,200. However, this did NOT fix the issue. The $1,200 repair was to check if there was a leak, extract the freon, and top-up the freon. I already knew there was a leak beforehand and communicated this to the company.

After this incident, I was quoted another $2,200 to replace a part of my A/C unit. This was NOT communicated to me during the diagnostic or initial stages of the repair. A new unit is ~$5,000, if they told me it was $3k to repair, I would have chosen to get a new unit. I've contacted Mersey and they will not refund the $1,200 charge. My AC still doesn't work.

The technician diagnosed my air conditioning unit has a faulty capacitor and told me the replacement of the parts and labour would be $324.00 plus tax. I believed that he give me the real price of the parts and agreed to the repair. It ends up total $524.31. My wife and I were told by the technician that $324 was a flat fee and minimum charge only after the repair and payment made completed. Later on we found out that a capacitor only cost about $20 to $40. I call the company today and spoke to a manager, she insisted that $324 for a $20 part price tag for costume is an fair industry standard, refuse to do the refund, only offer 20% discount for future service by Mersey. I did not accept the offer and she just hang up the phone.

Mersey's (Mussana) visit on Tues. June 7/22 for the yearly routine maintenance of my Air Conditioner was excellent. Spotted a problem which will eventually need unit replacement ( after 15 years). Will now know what to look out for as unit ages further.
