Waterproofing, Drain Replacement, sump pump, new service line

The Good: I now have a nice dry and flat basement floor where before there were leaks and the concrete was all slanted towards the drain.
The pricing was better than the other quotes I got.
The workers were accommodating

The Bad:
1. They disconnected the main grounding wire and forgot to reconnect it. Major "no-no". You can't just disconnect a home's main grounding wire and walk away. This is a major safety hazard.

2. Apparently they had extra cement and thought it would be a good idea to pour it on my fence supports without our permission. See update below...

3. They left messes everywhere for me to cleanup. A pile of debris half buried in my driveway and other places (see pictures), cement on my window from the pour, concrete. Drop sheet protection was totally inadequate, leaving a daily mess and permanently marking my floor due to heavy equipment.

4. While there were a couple of really nice and friendly guys working for them, they were the ones horribly mistreated by the other (presumably more senior) staff. Many of the workers did not speak English but those that did spent most of their time yelling and demeaning their team.

Update: Upon reading my review, Tony (a manager) quickly contacted us and drove right over to see the items noted above. He acknowledged the shortcomings, apologized deeply, promised to speak with his team. They showed up the following day and cleaned up the debris, fixed up the poured concrete around the fence and layed down a bed of fresh gravel for their driveway. While the cement pour was a poor decision, it was a mistake that I'm sure will never happen again. Based on this thorough follow up I will be much more likely to recommend them in the future.

Update>upon opening my floor back up in order to install my shower I found out that despite what I was told they did not put plastic under the concrete.

Company Response

Thank you David for your feedback, and for allowing Anta to provide you with a level and dry basement. The photo of the sump pump installation is a great work-in-progress shot, and shows the many projects underway. Keep in mind that your sump should have a twice yearly maintenance to clear debris and dirt, thereby providing you with optimal performance and protection. Remember that you are also eligible to apply for a City rebate for the sump pump installation. You will need to have an electrician for the ground wire, as only a qualified professional can do this type of work. At Anta Plumbing customer satisfaction is important, and all our staff strive to provide the best service possible. Our drain technicians were able to give your fence more stability in those areas. We value all our customers' responses and feedback, as continuous improvement and growth is vital in any industry. Thank you for choosing Anta Plumbing, we look forward to being of service to you and your home in the future.

Summary: Happy enough with the finished work, but these guys are not deserving of the high marks they're getting here. More like a "get what you pay for" type of company.

The Good: I now have a nice dry and flat basement floor where before there were leaks and the concrete was all slanted towards the drain.
The pricing was better than the other quotes I got.

The Bad:
1. Came home to find them gone for the day and my home's main grounding wire disconnected from the water pipe (and ground). You can't just disconnect a home's main grounding wire and walk away. This is a major safety hazard.

2. Apparently they had extra cement and thought it would be a good idea to pour it on my fence supports without our permission. It looks hideous as you can see from the pictures.

They're obviously new to Canada and haven't figured out our culture yet. If I had known this is the way they treat people, I would have paid more to get someone else. I can't believe other people are giving them top marks based on this one thing alone. Ours was a big job though so maybe we just had more exposure than most.
