Basement Finishing

It is the worst contractor experience I have ever had. Mike never keeps his words. Whatever he says is full of BS and excuses. You will find out as soon as his own words contradict to what he said before. And when he says thing will happen, the chance is 50% or less. When he says he will try it or he might be able to it, the chance is ZERO.

Project comes with surprise after surprise, and keeps being delayed without any updates or feeling sorry. Lot of these are because of his poor organization. Believe or not, the number of days his team actually came to work is less than the waiting days in the 2+ months period (yes, it has been over 2 months since started) while original "promise" is to finish within 4-6 weeks.
Imagine you are sitting home everyday hoping and praying for your contractor to show up (as I said no communication if they will show up).

The ONLY times he showed up without chasing were to get the installments ($$$). Ok, if the quality is good, I can at least try to justify the delay, but the craftsmanship is just ok and some are sub par quality, including the simple paint job. I think a lot of it is due to the rush schedule his team is trying to fit between jobs. As mentioned, the wait time is more than actual working time after numerous follow up calls. Then, they would show up just to rush something AND ask for the next payment. What makes it even a joke is that Mike keeps saying how professional the job is from day 1 !!! He thought his clients are fool and know nothing.

Communication is close to zero, you will hardly know what his team or his subcontractors will do next until it happens. So, it is full of surprises and shocks all along. Sometimes, jobs from different subcontractors could be done in wrong sequence. E.g. flooring can be done in the middle of the project, drywall was finished before all wiring and piping is done.

If you are detail oriented, you would either want to kill yourself or kill him as he will hardly remember 30% of what you told him numerous times or what he promised, and missed it at the end. Lot of time, it is not something changeable after the facts. Would I refer him to someone? Yes, to my enemies or someone who wants to learn to be a foreman himself, as you will have to constantly monitor the job and remind what are missed, and hope they can fix before it is too late.

Conclusion, if you want headaches, stresses and heart attack, go ahead and get this company to do your job. You won’t be surprised!

Approximate cost of services:
$25,000.00
