Overall pieces for a minor house reno

First time shopper at F2. I went through the entire store without once being approached by someone who worked there. Is this a good thing? I was inspired by their furnishings and will most likely purchases pieces from F2. However, not being able to take photos is ridiculous. Do they not understand how many, busy couples shop now a days? One of us will be out shopping and take photos of what we liked to share with our partner. Also, I take photos to keep track of what I liked. I was (and still am) very annoyed.

My mom and I were shopping for a very long time for a coffee table to put in the living room. Staff at F2 were very helpful and we bought a unique dining table.

The staff was very nice. They assign me a design consultant and gave me a very good advice with my new house. I didn't feel being push to buy anything and they followed up with me after the furniture was delivered. I highly recommended this place!

Sofa, Bedframe, table

As a new home owner, I love going to this huge furniture store to check out what new stuff they have. We've been there over a dozen times and each time their friendly staff greet us. They are not pushy at all and let's us browse freely. There are not many places in Edmonton that you can find such modern furniture so I'm glad one finally arrived in the booming south-side!

This is also the only furniture store that has an art gallery that we know of. Though I haven't bought any art from them yet, its still nice to walk through. We also like how all their furniture is from Canadian lines! We like their EQ3 line as it is both modern and affordable for young homeowners.

I've seen their furniture featured in several showhomes and that is how we learned of them. We've bought a few pieces from them (sofa, dining table, and bedframe) over the last 2 years and the quality remains great. We still have some furniture we need to buy for the other living room and spare room so will be coming back often!

Purchase of furniture and area rug

We have been to F2 Furnishings many times since they opened on the south side. Our experience there, especially today, was beyond poor. We purchased a brand new Chaise Lounge but they were trying to deceive us by giving us the floor model without our knowledge. I am wondering if they were going to do the same with the area rug, but didn’t give them the opportunity to sell us the items.
We were in the store looking at a Chaise lounge; F2 seemed to have the one that I liked the most. I looked at it several times and finally decided to ask about purchasing it. Late December I was in the store and a young lady was helping me, I didn’t know if the color would be right so I asked if they had a swatch of the material so I could take it home and compare it with the flooring and paint in the area of the house it was to be placed. The young lady came back to me and said that the item was being discontinued for 2013 and the floor model was all they had. I asked if they would discount the price because it is a floor model and she said no. My husband and I went back to the store in the New Year to look at the Chaise again as the store was having a sale and we were hopeful the item would be on sale considering what we were told by the young lady. We ended up speaking to a managing partner. We asked the managing partner again if there was a discount on the item and went on to explain what I was told by the young lady during my previous visit. The managing partner assured us that she could order the Chaise brand new and that there was no discount on the floor item. My husband and I decided to put in the order for the “new” chaise and area rug and were told it would be 6-weeks before our items would be ready. One week later I received a phone call telling me my order was in, 10-minutes later I received a phone call telling me that she was wrong the order was not in…I asked how long it might be, the young lady said approximately 4-weeks. On Friday, January 18th I received a call from F2, much to my shock, again letting me know my items were available for pick up, so on Monday we went to F2 to pick up our items. First the young lady helping us couldn’t get the invoices straight; she gave me another customer’s invoice to sign. As we were standing there waiting for our invoice to get straightened out we decided to look around the store, much to our amazement the chaise lounge we ordered and the area rug were nowhere to be found in the store. When the young man came out to let us know our order was ready to be picked up, my husband asked if the lounge was new…the young man looked at his invoice and said no, it is the floor model. At no time were we call or notified that we were getting the floor model…when we asked to speak with the managing partner we were told that she wouldn’t come out, got the indication that this wasn’t the first time this type of event occurred. Eventually the managing partner came out as she had to assist a customer from Calgary that had been waiting for her. The managing partner didn’t even apologise to us, actually she tried to argue with me telling me that I was aware of the floor model. At no time did we think we were purchasing used furniture. I explained to the managing partner that the proper way to conduct business is to call your customer and explain the issue and then let them decide if they still want to purchase the items, not sell a used item to a customer without their full knowledge. Then when we were leaving the store the managing partner commented to 3-of her employees “can you believe that” … What I can’t believe is that a managing partner, would knowingly attempt to sell used furniture without the customer knowing and think nothing of it. Not that $.30 is a big deal, but that is what I was short changed on my refund. We will never shop at F2 and we will never recommend the store to anyone.

Bedroom Set

I had purchased a bedroom set from here, I love it. I wish it came in King size though and now its in the guest bedroom. The price is a little higher then other places, i found something pretty similar to here for a little more then half the price of what they are charging but the service was great!

Sectional sofa

My main floor is oddly shaped and I needed a couch to replace my aging couch and loveseat. We went to F2 and looked at their selection and they had sectionals that we could not find anywhere else. We found a sectional with a perfect size and very contemporary design. We get compliments about it all the time

Purchase of dining room set

I had a terrible experience with this store and its managing partner Shelly Durkson.

Initially my husband and I went in and were helped by one of their sales people to look at what was described as a solid walnut table. Wanting to do some more research on the table, I called in and was refused any print outs or info about the manufacturer, specs, etc - I was told by SHelly Durkson that she would not help me shop for the product somewhere else.

In a hurry, we went in shortly after and purchased what we were told was a solid walnut table and 6 chairs. This time we were helped by the boss Shelly Durkson. Shelly indicated that an order was going in that day for the product but that, after that, it could be several weeks before she placed another order. Shelly described an extensive warranty.

She then left the store and we sat down with a sales person to make our purchase. We were in a hurry to have our furniture. After paying, we were provided with the warranty which covered maybe 1/3 of what we were initially told. I then received a call the next day informing us our furniture would be arriving in 4-5 weeks.

When we did pick up our product it was very cheap looking - certainly did not appear the value of $4500 - and the table was fibre board with a walnut veneer.

It looked awful and we decided to return it despite the 20%! restocking fee.

Shelly indicated to me that the restocking fee was 25% despite it saying 20% on the invoice. After a bit of arguing she agreed to honor the 20% given that I had been provided an old form. I asked her to reconsider the restocking fee on the table given that we were not provided accurate information on that product. She declined and stated she thought it unlikely that we had been misinformed by her staff.

We paid over $800 not to have that ugly cheap looking table in our dining area. I'm not certain why I would expect Shelly Durkson to be upset with her staff for not being truthful about the table given that she herself had been misleading about the warranty.

Just stay away.
