Clear Choice was great

Clear Choice was certainly shoulders above the rest... I was referred to them by a friend...however I did my own research.. and asked for other quotes. They are not the most expensive .. and are not the cheapest... but these Ostaco windows are great. Mike Wolanik, the person who came to my residence to examine the present windows, was very knowledgeable about windows in general and quite thorough in his explanations concerning the replacement of the units. He did not give me a quote at the kitchen table as the other salesmen did. He went back to his office and got his draftsman draw up the window units on a computer program. What I received by email a few days later was a complete and DETAILED quote including a set of computerized drawings of the window units... Impressive! I had a few questions..I called them back.. Again they explained everything in detail. I felt completely at ease before I signed to have them go forward with the work. I'm looking out the windows right now with a huge sense of satisfaction.. What a great team..
Thanks Mike..

Windows for our new home

To date, we installed Clear Choice's doors and Ostaco windows throughout our new home and also our previous home. After researching many companies, we chose this company because of their knowledge and expertise and also because of the quality of their windows and doors, backed by a great warranty. Their staff are friendly and helpful, always with a smile on their faces. Their installation crews provided professional and clean service. One of our windows was deffective, and we had no problems or delays replacing the faulty glass. We have reffered them many times and will continue to do so. Ask them about their awesome EVW 2200 Series sliding patio door!

ENTIRE HOUSE WINDOWS, SHOP WINDOWS & 2 PATIO DOORS

We had planned to build a new home on our existing lot. I did the CAD drawings up, had the Engineer's Report done and then started to visit various businesses around Winnipeg to get quotes on the various components that were going to go into the new home. I made the rounds to various Window and Door Businesses and liked the staff at Clear Choice. I understand that Mike Sr. had experience with building Custom Built Homes prior to operating Clear Choice. Very few window suppliers knew about the Manitoba Building Code requirements when it comes to what is required when installing windows and in particular windows as a second means of egress from a Bedroom. Well, through a series of life events, we ended up finding a house already built by a Dutch craftsman that was also built with the double studded and staggered exterior walls and in a nice location close to where we were already living. We purchased that house and once more I went around to various suppliers and contractors of items we were going to upgrade. Again, when I went into the Clear Choice Windows and Door Store I felt at ease from saying Hello to Mary at the Front Counter to discussing window and building related subjects with either Mike Sr. or Mike Jr. They understood about the concerns I had installing new PVC windows into a home with the extra thick exterior walls. They knew about the dew point and the freezing point in the walls and how a window can be affected by these items. Our new home had some front windows with complex angles in our Living Room. Several visits by their installer were necessary to confirm the unusual measurements and when the windows came, they fit perfectly. In our house we had a basement bedroom that had an existing non-complying Window. Its opening size did not meet the most recent Manitoba Building Code requirements to provide an acceptable second means of egress (escape) in case of an emergency (fire). Mike SR. and Mike Jr. knew the requirements. That window had to be one that opened inwards and also meant having to make the wall opening larger. Yes, the window cost a bit more, but, you also end up with a home that has a code complying bedroom. That window alone became an investment and probably added value and a degree of safety to our home investment. Sometimes as a customer it pays to ask why does the Building Code enter into my window replacement project? It's not usually a negative thing. We ended up getting 2 patio doors changed and all the windows as well. The hardware has been good. The installation went well. The installers were courteous and professional and cleaned up after themselves. When it came time to replace the windows in my Sister's house; I suggested she visit several businesses and then go into Clear Choice. She did get a quote from a very well known Window Supplier around town but they missed two windows that needed to comply with the Manitoba Building Code Requirements as a second means of egress in case of emergency. She also decided to use the Clear Choice product and is quite happy with everything. When I needed a few new windows for my shop I immediately contacted Clear Choice. I have recommended their products to other friends as well. Sometimes all the various windows out there may look alike and operate alike but it's important to have knowledgeable people selling a good product and good people installing it as well.

2 new exterior doors and one storm door

From the moment of entry into Clear Choice's showroom we had a wonderful experience. Mike Sr. worked with us, provided us with all the information we needed to know about buying doors, and gave us catalogues to look further. Once we had made our decision, Mike came over and measured and we placed the order. The doors were to arrive by the end of October and installation would be mid-November. Unfortunately the doors were delayed in arriving so we got them installed in mid-December. But, WOW, it was well worth the wait! Not only are the doors gorgeous, the installation was exceptional, very knowledgeable, courteous, precise, neat and everything was completely cleaned up before leaving. We could not be happier!

We're very pleased that you had a wonderful experience with Clear Choice Window and Door Store. It's unfortunate that the door slab component for one of your doors took longer than anticipated to arrive at the manufacturer (which was the reason for the delay), but it's wonderful to hear that you couldn't be happier with your new doors now that they've been installed in your home. Windows, both replacements and new

I have purchased windows for our house, both the new additions to our house, and for our cottage in Northern Ontario. Clear Choice arranged for the windows to be installed, and the crew even removed the old windows from the island. I would definitely recommend this company for both the high quality of the windows they sell, and for the workmanship of the installations.

Replaced all the windows in our house

We are extremely pleased with the quality of our windows and with the service we received from Clear Choice Window and Door store. We replaced the windows in our house and immediately noticed a difference in the amount of heat escaping and condensation build up. The sales staff are extremely knowledgeable about the products they offer and the installation crew was friendly and quick. We've moved since then so we called again a few months ago to replace some windows in our current home and got the same great service.

Additions

We are a returning customer to Clear Choice for windows for our new built home. Our previous experience was a great one and we sat down with Mike Junior and he advised us of window and door choices. We walked through the show room opening and closing window and doors. The ordering process, payments and delivery were smooth. We would recommend Clear Choice our friends and family and anyone looking at new windows and doors to stop by their store and say hello and get quote and open and close the windows and doors. They are very friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Thank you!!!!

total waste of time & money with this company

signed contract with this company may 17/16 with a 400.00 deposit. Guaranteed install week of July 11-15/16. 9 weeks. July 11-15 came and went and nothing from ClearChoice. On July 25, I received a call at 2:30 from Len, the window installer telling me he was installing the window tomorrow morning. I said no..Calls and e-mails were sent to Guy at ClearChoice. I received an e-mail from Mike, the owner to told me that the windows arrived later than expected and they had a big job was booked before mine and then the installer was on holidays. I was on holidays waiting for a window with a guaranteed install date. I guess they think so little of their customers that they can't call or e-mail, and if the installer is on holidays, why would you take installs for that week. Mike told me that if I would have called at the start of my holidays, he would have insured it would have been installed them. Seriously, it was booked 9 weeks prior to my holidays and now I should be calling to make sure my window is going to be installed. I am paying them for a service and I should be calling them to make sure there are going to do it. Finally a date of Friday Aug 5/16 at 9 a.m. was set to install window. Day lost wages for ClearChoice. On Thursday, Aug 4 at 3:00 Len the installer calls to tell me that there is a crew available Sat and they want to install the window then. Will this nightmare ever end. I said no and then the time was changed to 7:30 a.m. Window was installed by 8:45. Add in lost wages=1 very expensive window. Please don't make the same mistake I did.

Company Response

Susan, we're very sorry for the delay in getting your window installed. However, as you know, there was no mention anywhere on your order or on your invoice that the installation needed to take place during the week of July 11th.

When we guarantee an installation date, our process is to always note that requirement on the order so that the date can be entered into our installation calendar when the order is processed.

As a result, with no critical date noted anywhere on your paperwork, your order wasn't pre-scheduled for any particular date.

Moreover, it is unfortunate that you never contacted Clear Choice either prior to your vacation week or at any time during your vacation week to ask about your window installation since, if you had done so, we would have still had the opportunity to meet your deadline and we would have reworked our schedule to make sure that it happened.

Unfortunately, the first time that we were informed that there was an issue was when our head installer contacted you to book an install date after your vacation time had finished.

Again, we're very sorry that you ended up booking a day off work, but please remember that in addition to offering you any weekday, we also offered to do a Saturday install for you and you declined.

Sincerely, the staff of the Clear Choice Window & Door Store
