New Air Conditioning and Furnace

THE SHORT STORY....I would think twice before dealing with Aire One on Upper James in Hamilton. The installation went fine, but afterwards when the house was not cooling and the ac would run for 24 hours/day, the owner Mike was not interested in helping and correcting the issue. Once talking to him about the issues, being very polite to see how we could fix this problem, he began raising his voice, getting very angry, and was very very unprofessional. Make sure you get EVERYTHING IN WRITING with this company.

THE LONG STORY....
Purchased a 50 year old home in July 2010, had a complete renovation done, new wiring, new plumbing, new windows and doors, new drywall and insulation, new roof insulation, complete new duct work from engineer drawings, basically a brand new home. The house was still under reno and we did not live there until July, 2012( the house sat empty for 2 years while we reno'd it). We rushed in 2010 to get all the new windows, insulation and furnace and AC because of the government rebates that were set to expire that year. Jim the sales agent came and priced us for a new ac and furnace, we told him the renovations we would be doing, the addition we were putting on, and he tolds us what ac unit we would need. July 2012 we finally move into our house, right before the summer heat wave, and the Ac can not cool the house, it runs almost 24/7 for 2 months of the summer not being able to get the temp under 26 degrees in our newly renovated bungalow. Mike from Aire One looks at it and tops it up a little, and says it is fine. We let it go, we then have a heat/loss calculation done by an engineer and find out that the AC unit was undersized by 1/2 tonne. I called Mike the owner to correct this problem, saying I would agree to pay the difference in price for the larger size AC unit, only to have him tell me that it was MY FAULT and I would have to spend another $3000 to have the correct size AC installed. I told him I am the homeowner, Jim the sales agent and his team are supposed to be the professionals, but yet it was my fault. After arguing for 20 minutes he lowered the price to $2500, which was unreasonable. I told him I just spent $8000 for something that does not even does what it supposed to, which is cool the house, and now he wants me to spend another $2500 for Aire Ones incompetence.

Bottom line is HE WILL ARGUE WITH YOU, AVOID TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY, AND MAKE ANY EXCUSE TO SHOW IT WAS YOUR FAULT( examples include, saying the insulation was old, the windows were old, the ductwork was outdated, BUT THESE WERE ALL NEW)

air conditioner replaced

We have lived in our home for 10 years and it was way over due to replace our air conditioner. We have seen Air One advertise in the paper so we thought we'd give them a shout. We were able to get an appointment with a representative immediately. The person provided his professional opinion and was able to have the unit of our choice installed within 2 days. Service, product were both very satisfactory and we would most definitely recommend.

Replace Furnace and AC

AireOne Newmarket store (owned by the same people)

Installers were polite and courteous. THowever they reused many of my existing parts like transformer, intake pipes and copper lineset. The lineset shouldn't be used as older style coolant is different. This would contaminate the new coolant. I paid for new and should get everything new. What else did they shortchange me on? Is this their business model. Or were they just lazy? I hired a pro because they is stuff I can't do.

Sale staff ... dishonest. I discovered a scam when I was making a routine followup to ensure my manufacturer's warranty policy was in effect. They, Aire One Newmarket, put in a a very expensive replacement claim (to the manufacturer) against my equipment. This claim was so expensive ($1000s) that if my equipment did need a future repair, the manufacturer would not cover it as it was replaced before. What a scam.

The manufacturer has flagged my account if they every try that again. The proof was in claim that they filed. They will investigate other claims as well. I won't deal with them every again.

Conclusion: You can't trust Aire One Newmarket. If this one is that bad ... how can you trust any of their other branches (same people). They will short change you on site and off.
