Repair old leaking eavestrough, add dripstrip and one side of garage and front of house roof gutter

Maize helped us again. We bought an older home June this year and during the heavy rains, the older eavestrough obviously had not been working for a long time, causing erosion on the walkway, driveway. Maize replaced the garage side, front of the house gutters and installed drip strip along the entire roof line. After the last couple of rainstorms, the new gutters are handling the runoff and we are very very pleased with the work. Love this company and Phil is the best.

I'm happy to hear our efforts paid off. Handling the water is the most important part of installing the eavestrough.

Eavestroughing

Stay away from Maize Eavestroughing if you have a metal roof.

Our metal roof had perfectly functioning and in perfect condition Eavestroughing along with a gutter helmet, which is a very important part of the Eavestroughing on a metal roof. I loved them and for the past 6 years they were doing an excellent job for the house. After winter we had to deal with a little piece of metal in the corners of the roof which was compressed from moving show. When it rained, the water from the corners was running too fast and sometimes missed the gutters. I called Maize Eavestroughing in August 2012 for a consultation on how to improve this situation, and the sales person advised us that the only way to improve the situation quickly and easily was to change the whole Eavestroughing from 5” to 6”. Being no expert on Eavestroughing, I did not question their recommendation and agreed to this improvement as I was promised to have an excellent resolution at quite reasonable price of $1,500.00. Little did I know at that time, that instead of the improvement I was promised, Maize was creating a huge problem for me.
After the first installation it was evident and easily visible that the Eavestroughing was installed without accurate measurement -the difference between beginning and the end of the Eavestroughing was a whole foot – 12 inches in total. The difference between the other two symmetrical pieces of the Eavestroughing was over 1.5 foot. The corners of the Eavestroughing were glued to the house with white caulking as well as the corners themselves because the screws were inserted improperly. The leaf guard was composed out of 17 different pieces from different brands and different width sizes.

The biggest shock for us was missing the 70 feet Gutter Helmet for the Eavestroughing. The company removed our gutter helmet that had been pre-installed by another company without our permission, and removed it from our property. This piece is very important for any metal roof to protect the Eavestroughing from ice and snow and is more expensive than the Maize’s “improvement” itself. Maize refused to return it. Of course, their new system was completely destroyed during the winter and company did not reply to my calls and emails until I filed out a complaint with BBB against them. They came back 12 month later to fix the part of the problem, but refused to return my Gutter Helmet and demanded extra $2,000.00 if I want to install it back. According to our calculation the price of the “improvement” with Maize, which is not an improvement at all in our case according to a home inspector, installation of old Eavestroughing and installation of the Gutter Helmet, taken by Maize is totaling of $7,000.00 for 60 feet if we will bring back our Eavestroughing to the previous condition. Maize misled us completely by its incompetence and at that point we can see only one solution to this problem – taking legal actions against Maize Eavestroughing.

The eavestrough was CHANGED FREE OF CHARGE even though no company applies the warranty when damaged by falling ice. I am happy that it will function good after this misstep.

Eavestrough, soffit

I have used Maize Eavestrough periodically over the past 15 years for various projects I have been involved in working for other general contractors or on my own projects. The main quality I have enjoyed about dealing with them on site is the quality of their crews and workmanship. As well, any service issues that came up were fairly easily resolved.
This past winter had the old wooden facia and soffet covered and new trough and downspouts installed on my own house.
Despite a typically erratic Ottawa winter the job was completed in a clean and timely manner.
I will use their services again and would recommend them as well.

Eavestrough

We had Alexis quote on a small project, I thought they would never take such a small project on...They came and installed as they had said, quickly efficiently. I had picked a color I thought was correct, but upon completion realized it was noticeably incorrect. We discussed, and they returned and replaced the offending color without issue or extra charge...I am very impressed...If you are having work done to match existing...have them chose the color...:) I would recommend them...

eavestroughing on new home

I recently had eaves troughs put on my new home. Maize was chosen and they were quick and efficient in completing the work. Their price was very competitive and I am very satisfied with the work and follow up. We have had more rain than necessary to test the work and everything seems fine. I have confidence in their after sales service if problems should arise.

You're right! We have had more rain than the average this spring/beginning of summer. I'm happy to hear that our 3x3 downspouts helped with the flow of the water.

eavestrough

We dealt with Alexis Maisonneuve for the installation of our eavestrough for our new house. Service was excellent. Alexis did research to find the right color. He was available all the time. The team who did the work was experimented and were attentive to my expectations. Thank you!

We must deal with at least 75 colors distributed between 10 different companies. It's no surprise that sometimes a specific color is hard to find and order. I'm really happy we could find the exact match. It also looks super good. Thank for the kind words.

Eavestrouging

We hired Maize Siding and Eavestroughing a few months ago and they were kind enough to accept payment via post dated cheques. We really did appreciate it since we had just moved into a new house and were not ready to pay it up front and in full.

Thank you so much Maize Siding and Eavestroughing.

They were on time and very porfessional and careful as we have Stucco outside walls. We had an issue with one gutter, they came 3 times to adjust it. We are recommending this company.

install eavestrough

Had very bad expierence with this company. They installed eavstrough on my two storey house last fall. Since had twice clogging.Noticed, that extension cut on top elbow was installed with very poor quality. Asked them to replace it, but they allways refuse to do it. Fixed by myself finally.

Company Response

Hello,
Thanks for the review, even if a negative one, it can only help us understand were we might have a communication error. We tried our best to resolve the problem. I personnly went 2 times to un-clogge the eavestrough of the leaves. However, I just want to make it clear that when we install the eavestrough, we do not clean it each year.
