Furnace servicing

Similar to the review below entitled 'Furnace not working,' a rude technician came out, spent about 30 minutes fiddling around with the furnace. Refused to listen to the problem, which was the reason why we called him, and then, after sitting in his truck for 20 minutes returned with a blank time-sheet, which he asked me to sign. When I inquired about the time, he erroneously and said it was 1.5 hours, when it had been closer to 45 minutes. The manager never returned our calls when we reported this dishonesty. The technician misrepresented his labor and failed to solve the issue (which a capable gas-fitter later fixed in 20 minutes). DO NOT hire these incompetents.

Draintiles

Mel and Cindy Klein

When I was first looking for a company to redo my perimeter drain tiles I asked 3 local companies to bid my project. I received a very thorough and detailed estimate by Frank of Blue Mountain Services, spelling out everything that had to be done so there were no surprises. They started my job when they said they would and the crew was at my residence every day, on time until finished. Peter, Jackson, Kyle, Frank and Luke worked tirelessly. They were all polite and very professional - no swearing. The amount of rocks and dirt which required shoveling, wheel barrowing and removal was unbelievable. Frank made sure the crew had all the gravel and supplies needed in a timely manner. Peter’s experience in laying out drain tiles with the right slope was right on. At the end Luke made sure my yard was cleaned up and everything was to my satisfaction. I also required concrete work to be done. Frank knew and coordinated this work and the guys did a great job on my sidewalks. I was extremely happy and can recommend this company to the highest degree.

Drainage system replaced

I experienced basement flooding and the ultimate cause was determined to be related to a compromised drain system, which needed replacing. Blue Mountain Service prepared estimates and explained all details concerning the nature of the problem and what would be required to bring about all needed repairs. Staff were all polite, service was prompt, and every crew member who attended the site was polite, diligent, and hard working. The cost and time involved came in well under estimate. I thank Blue Mountain for top quality work and service. When other companies failed to even provide estimates or to inspect my problems, Blue Mountain staff went out of their way to address all of my concerns and issues. I plan to switch to Blue Mountain for all my plumbing and home heating needs.

Residential toilet repair

We called Blue Mountain one evening when our old fill valve suddenly stopped drawing water into our toilet tank and they booked a technician to attend the next afternoon. For regular daytime service, they charged a minimum of 1 1/2 hour for travel and labour (approx. $110.00 for one person) plus any parts. Their technicians were very polite, identified the issue immediately, brought the fill valve with them and made sure our bathroom was restored to its original state in less than one hour. I would recommend their services to my friends and neighbours.

furnace not working

Technician wrote on invoice "nothing wrong was found" yet invoice has charges for parts and 1.5 hour of labour although technician was not on site for 1.5 hr (as per witness). Upon receipt of invoice, called Blue Mountain who were supposed to call me back. Yet they called a third party despite the fact that I had stated that I was the only person they should contact (as the owner). When I called again, they refuse to talk to me. I would never deal with them. I find their practices dishonnest and their attitude unacceptable.

Blue Star -Bathroom Exhaust Fan

This was our first purchase towards our two full bathroom renovations. We purchased two of these amazing fans directly from the fellows at the booth. They offered free delivery of the fans directly to our door the next day. The Blue star fans are amazingly quiet and we are very happy with them. Just a word of caution be sure you understand the different types of ceiling configurations before you purcase a new bathroom fan. We were hoping for a simple swap out but needed to remove a large part of the ceiling to get our new fans installed. But it was worth it!

furnace-heat pump repair

Was referred to Blue Mtn by the furnace manufacturer after my 51/2 year old high efficiency furnace/heat pump quit & the installing company was no longer in business. The 1st technician arrived without a low voltage fuse that had blown on the furnace circuit board. He left & returned charging 2 hours labour for a $1 fuse. The fuse blew again after he left. The next morning the 2nd technician arrived also without a fuse, so he completed the circuit with foil paper and diagnosed my circuit board as faulty. Luckily he had a refurbished board in his truck that he'd sell me privately without warranty for $300. (New from Blue Mtn would cost $700) The refurbished board allowed him to diagnose failure of the heat pump compressor, part covered by warranty, but not labour. While waiting for the manufacturer to authorize the new compressor, I contacted the owner of Blue Mountain, Paul, to advise him of his employee scamming him on the furnace circuit board replacement. Also, I showed my old circuit board to an electronics expert who advised he couldn't see anything wrong with it. When the new compressor was installed, somehow the heat pump circuit board had been blown, which was replaced for $565, but not covered by warranty. Everything worked when this was installed, but I asked to have my old circuit board reinstalled and the refurbished board removed. Surprisingly, everything still worked, so my board had not really blown.
Conclusion: the 2nd technician was trying to scam me by selling me a furnace circuit board that wasn't blown. The owner continued to support the technician even though he was aware of him trying to scam me and the company with his refurbished board. I have no confidence in the integrity of this company and wonder if the heat pump circuit board i was sold was blown by the foil used to complete the low voltage circuit on the furnace circuit board which was there to protect it. Or, maybe it was not blown at all & I was sold something that wasn't even broken.
