George Kent Home Improvements Ltd

Like many other homeowners in the Greater Toronto Area, our roof was damaged by recent windstorms and we needed to have it re-shingled. It would be the third huge project we would be undertaking in less than a year – having just finished our basement and remodeled our kitchen, so it was imperative that it was done right and gave us peace of mind for a long time.

To start, we knew (from listening to Frank Cohn on his Home Improvement Radio Show on Newstalk 1010) that we wanted to use GAF shingles, so we requested estimates from several GAF Factory-Certified Roofing Contractors – including George Kent Home Improvement Ltd., which Frank Cohn recommends.

George Kent Home Improvement Ltd. was the first to respond to our request. Todd got the satellite roof measurements reports, came to our home and explained the proposed work. We had three other proposals – of which two were less expensive, but obviously less superior as well, than George Kent’s offer. The other, and most expensive, proposal seemed to be on par with George Kent Home Improvement Ltd. in terms of quality of work – they are both GAF Factory-Certified Master Elite Contractors. Hence, and with the added weight of Frank Cohn’s recommendation, we chose George Kent Home Improvement Ltd. to install our new roof.

Wow! What a delightful job Ricardo and the rest of his team (Luis and Fidel) did. We salute them . . . greatly appreciated. They are absolute professionals who exhibit meticulous craftsmanship. Even the driver who delivered and picked up the “Bin There Dump That” bin did his job thoroughly and gracefully. Thanks for a job well done.

I'm usually not one to write reviews however, when a company and their people are truly exceptional I feel as though they deserve to be recognized!

I heard about George Kent through a friend that had used them in the past and was extremely happy with the work that was done as well as the simplicity of the entire process from beginning to end. I would have to agree as everyone I dealt with was very professional, courteous and informative. I truly felt as though I was in good hands.

Before starting this project I did my due diligence on the company as well as others and what put them in the forefront was that they were always very responsive, straightforward and honest. They worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done.

A special thanks to Robert for walking us thorough everything and answering all our questions. I would highly recommend using them and I certainly plan to in the near future as well.

Needed some windows replaced and called for an appointment. Robert came to our home to go over options and made the process pain free. The work was scheduled a few weeks and looks great. Definitely will call them again and recommend to family and friends. Cheers!

I wasn’t even sure where to start with the project... when I called, their employee Robert answered every question and put me at ease during his visit to my home. He was knowledgeable and honest and the turnaround was much quicker than I had imagined it would be.

I'm so disappointed so far with your company!! We signed a contract in January for new Windows for the entire house and here we are in July 6mos later and no windows and no explanation of when they will be installed. Can't someone look into contacting manufacturers to see where my order stands. You had my down payment for 6 most . Am I ever gonna get my windows? I have been told by Maria that it's too late for a refund even she offered that option a few times before .iwould like a response from you regarding this matter.So far I am so sorry I decided to go with George Kent construction for this job. George Kent came to our home in the distant suburbs and gave us a quote to remove the old insulation which badly needed doing and replace it with a new insulation of a higher rating and that critters would not live in.
They arrived as scheduled for both jobs. The weather was very hot and the men worked very hard and completer both jobs as contracted.
We were very pleased. To be dependable speaks volumes.

Wayne - thank you for your response and for your determination to make this right. There is no company that is perfect. So the true measure of a quality firm is how well they respond to customer situations like these. That's why I've changed my rating of your firm from a "0" to a "10". I want you to know that I really appreciate you going above and beyond to make me feel like a valued customer, and I thank you for your integrity and decency - two qualities that are unfortunately greatly underrepresented in the construction industry.
I'm sure you're aware that your crews came and completed the work. I found them professional, knowledgeable, courteous and respectful of my home. So thank you again for your personal involvement. I would not hesitate to call upon your firm again, or recommend you to any other customer contemplating a home improvement project.

I was introduced to George Kent Home Improvements (GKHI) as a result of a warranty claim. The roofer I had previously hired did not properly construct the roof ridge vent and so the GAF warranty claims department sent out GKHI to complete the job. Right at that time I also discovered that I had insufficient insulation in my roof (including blocked soffits and no baffles) so I thought I'd give GKHI an opportunity to provide me with a quote for the work. The fact that GAF uses them and are one of their Master Elite contractors gave me great comfort as I had never heard of this firm before. So in February 2018 I asked them to provide me with a quote. I never received anything from them and even followed up with the customer service rep. In April I phoned again and this time explained the situation to the receptionist, and asked her if a sales rep could contact me to discuss this new work. It seems that the customer service rep with whom I had been dealing was on a personal leave. Although I was promised a return call that afternoon, it took several weeks until one of their sales reps called me. He apologized profusely and arranged to come out to inspect the roof/attic so he could provide me with a quote. He did come over and I admit I was very impressed with his knowledge and commitment to doing a good job. He took the time to explain everything to me and my husband, and promised me 3 different quotes depending on how I wanted the job done (we have 2 skylights that made things a little trickier). Good news - he also advised us that we would be eligible for up to a $1500 rebate from the Ontario Green Fund. Much to my disappointment, I have still not received any quotes from GKHI, and a few weeks ago I followed up with this sales rep and left him a voice message on his cell phone. Still no word. Not even an acknowledgement. And now the Ontario Green Fund has been shut down by the new PC government so I'm no longer eligible for the rebate. Thanks a lot GKHI! I was actually an easy sale. If opportunities like these are being turned down, then I guess business must be really booming. I just would have appreciated a bit of courtesy and consideration if you weren't interested in doing the work. Best of luck to you.

From sales to installation, I have no complaints. Very professional and informative. The installation was seamless, clean and well done. The doors themselves are beautiful and high quality.
