After our 2nd. floor bathroom renovation was complete, the newly renovated shower leaked water into the main floor kitchen below. Crodon returned to do an inspection but couldn't find any reason for the leak. It leaked again and the second time, ruined the kitchen ceiling and shorted out the kitchen light fixture. They repaired the drywall and replaced the light but never found the cause of the leak. We called in another company and they took apart the shower pan. Their discovery? absolutely NO protective membrane in the shower pan. The worst and most expensive renovation of our lives! Buyer beware!
Late last year we embarked on a much needed reno and upgrade to our Kitchen, only bathroom and mudroom. We wanted to go with a local business and loved Crodon from the time we entered their premises. The variety of materials and helpfulness of staff (Vanessa and Russ) made them our choice. Their job quote was reasonable to us especially in regards to the work required ( a complete gutting and rebuild of the rooms mentioned.) Vanessa (the designer) worked with us in choosing the right materials and redesigning our kitchen and bathroom. All the contractors who showed up over the next 3 months were fantastic. This is an old house and no job was straight forward. Each had it's own headaches and Crodon tackled them all and delivered us a final product we are extremely proud of. A special thanks to Tony who had numerous headaches along the way but solved every issue professionally. Thanks to Joe (flooring) Doug (electrical) John (plumbing) Anton, Blake, Matthew and Richie who always left the place clean after a hard days work. You all helped us to achieve our dream home! Thank you also for helping work with us regarding our one bathroom issue and never leaving us without a working toilet! Much appreciated! We highly recommend Crodon as this was certainly no easy reno and their end result is breathtaking. Thanks so much to all of you!
We chose Crodon Kitchen and Bath Centre because they are a well-established, local business with an excellent reputation. We knew from the minute we stepped into their showroom that Crodon would get our business even though they were the fifth contractor we visited. The staff at Crodon made us feel very comfortable. Every person we met that first day was cheerful. The principal owner/designer, Russ Woodward, came to our home and we explained what we were trying to achieve. Russ made alternate suggestions, much to our surprise, that were spectacular! He came back when promised with the drawings of our potential new kitchen and "knocked our socks off". We signed the contract and work began with an estimation of eight weeks to completion. Every employee and contractor who came into our home was respectful and pleasant. They cleaned up their messes each and every day and Russ stayed in touch to ensure that we were happy with the progress. The kitchen renovation was completed one week early and it is gorgeous! We were so pleased with their work that we had them complete a few small touches in our main floor 3-piece bath. A short time late we had Crodon renovate our laundry room to include a full bathroom. Once again the entire job was done to our complete satisfaction and within budget and the technicians were still pleasant. Crodon delivers what they say they will. I've attached a couple of "Before & After" pictures of both projects but it is very difficult to capture the essence of beauty in just a couple of photographs.
Stephanie the designer and Chad the installer did a terrific job on my kitchen reno. It was a challenging design for a small kitchen with lots of windows and doors in an old house. Stephanie was able to do an incredible job finding ways of fitting what we wanted. She also went above and beyond to make sure that things ran smoothly. Chad did impeccable work, and made sure that the kitchen was cleaned up at the end of every day.
What I liked about Crodon is that they were very accommodating in terms of whether to do the full job or to just parts (we wound up having them to everything). The bid was clear, and although not cheap, the references they supplied were terrific.
The reasons I'm giving this a 4 instead of a 5 in terms of recommendation is that:
(1) the end of the project was slow to complete, which I understand isn't uncommon when the only jobs left are little ones. I thought the project manager could have communicated things a bit better. Still, the Stephanie and the owner made sure that everything was completed to my satisfaction.
(2) Stephanie has since moved out of the country, and thus doesn't work there anymore. If the other designers are anything like Stephanie, then this is a great place to use!
The company took my $6000 deposit with no intention of following any of the timelines that we discussed. They missed 3 start dates and did not once telephone or e-mail me to say that they were NOT going to start on the agreed upon date(s). Please refer to the Better Business Bureau complaints that numerous customers have filed against Crodon for full details of this incredibly stressful and expensive disater.
