Although I loved having the original wavy glass windows in my house, they were very drafty. They looked great from the inside due to the wonderful woodwork, but the aluminum storms covering them made them ugly on the outside. The salesman of Beverley Hills was very reassuring in that they were used to similar jobs, and would be careful to retain the original stained glass from one of the windows so I could reuse it later. Beverley Hills was very good about arranging for someone to measure the windows and keeping me informed about when the actual installation date would occur. The guys who did the work were very good, and allowed me not only to keep the stained glass but also several of the wavy window panes. The difference with the new windows was immediate - I don't think we'll be freezing this winter when we sit by the window. Street noise has also been muffled, so I'm quite happy about that!

I have an century home (built in 1895) that needed a lot of rewiring. While some work, including the electrical panel, had been completed, the most difficult work remained. Because most of my walls are plaster, I didn't wan't to have too many holes made, as it would be very dusty and the patching a nightmare. However, I had a lot of knob and tube to be replaced, and new ceiling fixtures to be added. Because I knew this was going to be an expensive job, I had several quotes done. Most of the quotes were local (I live in Hamilton), but because Java's reviews were so glowing, I thought I should call to see if they would provide services in my area. Antonio came by for a quote, which was impressive for the pricing (which was pretty much in the middle, despite the travel). More importantly, I felt very comfortable with Antonio. His honesty and professionalism was very apparent. And, unlike many of the other electricians, Antonio was able to reassure me that his staff would be able to fish the wiring through the walls with minimal damage, and any holes made would be patched. True to his word, his staff did a wonderful job. They were punctual and professional, and cleaned up everyday. They did the wiring, and also installed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. They were very accommodating about adding extra outlets when asked, and Antonio arranged for an electrical inspection once the work was completed. They clearly take pride in their work, which was impeccable. Probably one of the best tests of a company is how they react when things don't go according to plan. There was a small accident with a glass being broken (it was fragile and very easy to break), and Java took full responsibility - not only did they offer to pay for the repair right away, but Antonio also researched where I could go to minimize the work I had to do. We were very impressed with how they dealt with this. It's now been a few months when Java completed the work, and I still couldn't be happier. Java Electrical is very busy, but definitely worth the wait! Book them if you can!

What could this company do to improve their services?
Nothing - they are top-notch!
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Definitely get several quotes and check references. Ask about their experience in doing similar work, and how they plan on approaching the job. If you're able to hire Java, do that!

We had to top our gravel driveway and weren't sure what to do. Hamilton Builder Supply gave us great advice on what to get. Ordering was very simple, and they delivered the gravel on our driveway. Instead of dumping it all in one pile, the driver spread it out in several smaller piles, making it easier to level out (which we did ourselves). Very happy with how this went - and if we knew how simple and cheap it was beforehand, we would have done it earlier.

As another reviewer noted, this isn't an inexpensive contractor but the work is really good! I was first impressed by the service on my old furnace, which was incorrectly installed and which was built by a company that had gone out of business. The repair person serviced my furnace, and suggested that I looked into getting a replacement soon. What was amazing is that he didn't push his own company. When I had several contractors give me an estimate, I found that Boonstra's was very professional and not at all pushy, which I couldn't say for all of the others. I've been happy with both the furnace and air conditioning unit (expensive due to the size of the house and due to the environmentally-friendly concerns), as well as the annual services.

I find furniture shopping rather difficult, as I don't have a good imagination and there's so much to think about! I find that Stirling is a good place to shop, as the salespeople are very friendly and helpful, without being pushy (I don't believe they're on commission). The advice they've given me has been good, and the pricing on the furniture good, especially given the quality. The options are also really good, without being overwhelming. What I also appreciate is that sales tax and delivery are included in their prices, so I really know how much I will be spending. I highly recommend this store!

Stephanie the designer and Chad the installer did a terrific job on my kitchen reno. It was a challenging design for a small kitchen with lots of windows and doors in an old house. Stephanie was able to do an incredible job finding ways of fitting what we wanted. She also went above and beyond to make sure that things ran smoothly. Chad did impeccable work, and made sure that the kitchen was cleaned up at the end of every day. What I liked about Crodon is that they were very accommodating in terms of whether to do the full job or to just parts (we wound up having them to everything). The bid was clear, and although not cheap, the references they supplied were terrific. The reasons I'm giving this a 4 instead of a 5 in terms of recommendation is that: (1) the end of the project was slow to complete, which I understand isn't uncommon when the only jobs left are little ones. I thought the project manager could have communicated things a bit better. Still, the Stephanie and the owner made sure that everything was completed to my satisfaction. (2) Stephanie has since moved out of the country, and thus doesn't work there anymore. If the other designers are anything like Stephanie, then this is a great place to use!
