Avenue Road Roofing

We called Avenue Road roofing for an estimate on a leaky roof (corner evestrough) for repair and maintenance. This was our main concern because the dripping was causing a hole in our driveway. We also had another larger job in mind that was not urgent at all, however we asked for an estimate as well. We had the larger job done with the promise of getting the more important job done. A big mistake on our part. We should never have trusted their word. The important job was never done properly and the roof leaks more than it did before. The service man always promised to return, but never showed up and had the nerve to send a flyer to our home asking to make an appointment and pay more for the job that should have been done in the first place. On top of that, he had while he was working he showed up several times in a 2 week span to finish this simple job that would only take a day or 2 and always said that he has been busy. If Avenue road wants to keep clients they have to treat ALL their customers well, not only the ones they see fit. Don't trust their work ethics....

We was in need of repair the outside overhang of the front door and needed some guidance and help. They were very friendly and helpful and gave us very good and wise advice. I would recommend them.

Avenue Road fixed our roof a few years back and did a great job. No complaints...at the time. Unfortunately the roof started leaking again about 4 months ago and, since it's still under warranty, we called and they came to take a look. The repair guy said the job was done poorly and they would have to fix it. They were to call us back with a date when they would come to do the repair so we waited...and waited.

It's now been about 2 months since they said they would call. We've called them 4 times with no response. About a week and 1/2 ago we finally spoke to the person who came to look at the roof and he said he would call before the end of the week to set up a time. He never called. We've tried to get in touch since then but still haven't had any response.

The repair man used the excuse that there's been a lot of rain, they've been really busy and we're not a priority. Nice customer service, eh? In the meantime we can't finish the renos on our bathroom because the ceiling is ripped up and can't be replaced until the leaky roof is fixed. Sorry, Avenue Rd, but it IS a priority for us!! We understand that you're busy but at least call us to let us know that the job will eventually be done. ALL customers should be a priority!!

Well, a few days after this review went up and the guy finally is back to fix our roof. Fingers crossed that it works this time and we can finish our bathroom.

Update...It's now about 4 months since they came to finally fix the roof and guess what....IT'S LEAKING AGAIN!!! Unbelievable! Luckily we hadn't fixed the ceiling yet so we don't have to rip that out again. We're calling them again right now. Stay tuned for further updates.

We were in need of having some repair work done to free up a clogged downspout that had burst its seam. In addition, many of our gutters were pulling away from the fascia, which needed to be re-attached.

Had decided to call in the Avenue Road Roofing repair department. Their repair crew had called the next day to schedule an appointment, and were very prompt. The repair guy was great, very friendly, courteous and finished the job perfectly.The gutters and downspout were fixed as requested, and to this day are still holding strong, so workmanship was as we expected.

Only downside (and reason for the 8 rating) was their relatively high repair price.

You get what you pay for. This company is a little pricey, however the workmanship is top notch. I hired this company to repair a section of roof on a house in the Annex. The job was completed on time, and completed to perfection. Its been 10 yrs, I've yet to have a problem with the area they repaired.

As very picky customers (we try to know as much or more than the person we hire if possible), we found Avenue Road to be reasonable. The clean up was not very good, we still find nails in gutters and the lawn (they should use a magnetic sweep - they didn't). On the plus side, the site supervisor had the crew fix things up the way he felt they should be (primarily the flashing), and they messed up the flashing on a bay window roof. However, they sent a specialist (who we knew to ask for) who came and spent a few hours redoing the flashing over that small bay window. During the reshingling, the crew let me go up and cut my own wood to fill in two old vent holes (why not), and did the entire job in one scorching hot day with only a lunch break (we provided ice, juice, and fruit drinks all day - sugar and cool liquids keep workers working...and happy). AR gave us no problems about the 10%, 45 day holdback, and though AR charges more than most, we were able to be sticklers about every detail on the contract without a peep from them. AR was up front to begin with, and we were willing to pay a premium for the honesty - note: we showed every estimator what we wanted in written detail, and still got quotes for jobs with incorrect materials/work.

We hired Avenue Road Roofing because they had a good reputation and also because they were featured on Holmes on Homes. We knew they would be expensive but we wanted a company that could back up their work. The quotation process was very pleasant the estimator explained things in much more detail than the two other roofers we asked to provide quotes. It took over 2 months for them to start the work, but in fairness, the summer of 2006 was plagued with rain. They started a three day job on a Friday, which should have rung the alarm bells, and they assured me that the first layer would protect the roof in the event of rain. Well, it didn't. The good news is, they stood behind their work and eventually repaired the interior. The metal work was not done properly, and that too they fixed. Some of the stucco trim has to be cut away, and this was never properly finished. It took a total of five months from the time we signed the original contract. We were generally happy with the work on the roof and the professionalism of the company in standing by their errors, but they should be more upfront about their ability to do the job in a resonable timeframe. Once they start it, it should be finished as best as possible in consecutive days, not over a period of three months.

These guys saved the day. They tarped the roof in the middle of winter and ensured that we wouldn't have any leaks in the meantime. The sales staff (George in particular) was wonderful and very helpful. He actually referred us to a company of specialists that could help with the clean up of our attic because of the leaking causing mold.
