As first time home buyers we had our furnace inspected for the first time as soon as we bought since, unfortunately, a general home inspection doesn't delve deep into a furnace inspection. The technician found a crack in our heat exchanger and red flagged our furnace. We had a follow up with a sales specialist who thoroughly reviewed our options. He priced out a repair vs. a new high efficiency unit and explained the differences between the models and how they would affect the comfort of our home. We decided a new basic high efficiency furnace was perfect for our needs and the size of our home and he wasn't pushy and totally respected our choice. The good news is even the basic furnace has great features that help keep our place more comfortable than the previous one at 10% better efficiency, so the energy savings also help offset the cost.
When it came time to install, two guys did the whole thing in one day. At the end of the day, they informed me it took a little longer than usual as they had a slight issue with the measurements of a piece of sheet metal, but were able to fix it here on the spot, no problems and if they hadn't told me I would have never known as it looks perfect! I'm glad they took the time to do that, and that their techs have the experience to do so.
Had the first tune up a couple weeks ago and everything is normal, the inspector took his time and looked over everything explaining what he was doing.
While they may be slightly more expensive than some other companies, you get what you pay for. The service and knowledge give piece of mind that our furnace will keep us warm all winter long.
