Work done June 2020
Pros: Punctual, friendly and seems knowledgeable Con: He didn’t inspect the finished work himself. He’s had to come back twice and will need a 3rd time. Pro: First time he came back was to fix exposed sheathing and corners on the garage roof, he installed drip edge on the garage and porch flat roof. The garage is now ok. Con: The flat roof somehow developed a sag where water pooled which he couldn’t explain. Pro: He came back but he had to put extra layers of flat roofing so now it looks a little weird. Con: With cold weather, the porch flat roof is leaking where the sheathing meets the fascia board. So he’ll need to come back a 3rd time. Overall I don’t know what to say. He has made good on his warranty so far. But, given the quality of the original job, I can’t really recommend unless you are willing to double check the work and follow through with the warranty claims, unfortunately.

We were long overdue for a duct cleaning. It had been over 6 years and the last time we used a cheap Groupon company which was a mistake. When Paul saw how they supposedly cleaned the vents, he said there was no way. Well, he found some interesting things in our vents, which I thought was a joke at first but no! First, he checked to ensure all vents coming from the furnace were open properly, which they weren't. He explained how to check and set them. No one, not even our furnace company which comes every year, has ever explained that to me. We didn't have any noticeable issues, but he said this will make the furnace run more efficiently, and is necessary to clean properly. After that he went to work and was patient and thorough. He thought he might chip a little paint to get one of the grills off and let me know first, he was careful and didn't end up chipping, but that was thoughtful. One grill couldn't come off due to the trim around it, but he did his best to clean it and at least explained it to me unlike the Groupon company. I'm happy we went with Capps, thanks to the quality and care he took in his work. Recommend!

From contacting Casa Bella for a quote, to German’s initial consult and Ricardo’s installation, they made it a straightforward process with no surprises. German answered all of my questions confidently during the initial measurements taken for the quote. From the beginning he was very clear that there would be some painting I would have to do where they removed the old trim. He showed how much room the installers would need to access the windows and explained the type of window they would install to qualify for the current rebate. Within a couple days we had a detailed quote via email. There was no gimmicky sales pitch and no pressure. German actually encouraged me to take the time to get more quotes. I say that as I had one quote, from what we thought was a reputable company, where the sales rep came in and took measurements then claimed he was giving us a huge discount. Then scribbled some numbers in a notebook and just gave us a total (more than Casa Bella even with the “discount”) and said “so how will you be paying the 30% deposit?” When I said we need to think about it and get more quotes he actually said “everyone usually just signs right away after I give them a price, I’m surprised you’re not.” The rep didn’t even have any samples of the window with him. He just didn’t instill confidence in the product. So based on the experience with Casa Bella, we agreed and signed. Then someone came back to take more detailed measurements. We decided to add a stool and apron on one window and they added and re-sent the updated quote. No surprises. The day of the install Ricardo and crew arrived 20 mins early and got straight to work. They had all the windows replaced by 3pm with only trim work to finish the next day. The next day they arrived a little early and did a great job with the interior and exterior trim. He went through each window to ensure they all were cleaned, functioned properly, and made sure the screens came out easily. Little details that I definitely appreciate. After almost a week with the windows, the house is much more comfortable. Now, when we open our curtains in the morning it’s actually the same temperature as the rest of the room. Not a rush of cold air. Our old windows were in bad shape with broken seals so any upgrade would improve, but these windows definitely exceed our expectations so far! Very happy!

Our electric oven died. I called 4 gas line installers for quotes to convert to natural gas. Mike called back the same day and was straight forward with the quote range depending on the situation. We ended up buying a gas stove based on his quote and called back to book a time. He did have to postpone due to unforeseen circumstances, but rebooked for the next day. Life happens, he was honest and felt bad about it. The next day, he arrived on time and worked very efficiently. He’s also easy going and just a great guy to chat with. Not to mention, thorough and tidy. Highly recommend! Also, on the call for the quote, he suggested looking for scratch and dent appliances and to make sure the bottom corners of the stove weren’t dented. He also said to make sure they didn’t drop it off the truck upon delivery as it could dent the corners and make it impossible to level out. Great advice! We ended up buying a floor model stove for a fraction of the price! I went out to watch the delivery and the company had one guy pulling it off the truck... glad I was there.

As first time home buyers we had our furnace inspected for the first time as soon as we bought since, unfortunately, a general home inspection doesn't delve deep into a furnace inspection. The technician found a crack in our heat exchanger and red flagged our furnace. We had a follow up with a sales specialist who thoroughly reviewed our options. He priced out a repair vs. a new high efficiency unit and explained the differences between the models and how they would affect the comfort of our home. We decided a new basic high efficiency furnace was perfect for our needs and the size of our home and he wasn't pushy and totally respected our choice. The good news is even the basic furnace has great features that help keep our place more comfortable than the previous one at 10% better efficiency, so the energy savings also help offset the cost. When it came time to install, two guys did the whole thing in one day. At the end of the day, they informed me it took a little longer than usual as they had a slight issue with the measurements of a piece of sheet metal, but were able to fix it here on the spot, no problems and if they hadn't told me I would have never known as it looks perfect! I'm glad they took the time to do that, and that their techs have the experience to do so. Had the first tune up a couple weeks ago and everything is normal, the inspector took his time and looked over everything explaining what he was doing. While they may be slightly more expensive than some other companies, you get what you pay for. The service and knowledge give piece of mind that our furnace will keep us warm all winter long.

My wife and I bought our first home over a year ago with an improperly finished and insulated cold cellar that we knew had mold from the smell upon our first home inspection. We originally got, what I felt was, a pretty high quote from another company so we sealed the room and put the job off. This year I knew it couldn't wait any longer and I'm so thankful I looked on homestars.com. After reading all the positive reviews, I called moldservices on Saturday, Ross came on Sunday and gave an honest assessment and we booked him in within a few days. The day of, he and another worker (didn't get his name, sorry!) arrived a little early which is always good, worked extremely hard and got the whole cold cellar gutted and mold free in the time quoted and with the right equipment. They were up against some pretty nasty bugs and fungus which they handled no problem (much respect!). All for an excellent price, with courteous service. After the removal, Ross was up front and said the space is unusable in its current condition, due to a poor build of our front deck which isn't properly sealed and allows water to seep into the cellar. This also has caused damage to the grout on the cinder block foundation. He showed me the main areas of concern which I may be able to seal from the outside with some caulking, and suggested leaving a dehumidifier in the room to keep moisture at bay. He also noted that mold doesn't grow on cement so I won't have to worry about any mold coming back. Finally he assured me that as long as the moisture is monitored it won't affect the rest of the basement, which is comforting. All said and done, I will highly recommend Ross and his team to anyone who finds themselves in need of mold removal. I'm glad my wife and I now know the true nature of what was behind the drywall, and while it's not pretty, we know what we're up against. Thanks!!

Thanks Colin, I wish I could have left you a cold room worthy of this review. My "after" pictures never do the work justice but I'm glad you were pleased with the outcome.....Cheers...Ross
