100A Fuse to circuit breaker upgrade and Kitchen brought up to code and certified. I had 5 quotes. Captain Electric charged $100.00 for the quote. That's right I guess I am a sucker. It was early in the process but all other firms laughed at being charged and their quote was well over $1500.00 less. I got a jar opener and colour folder for my money. I heard Captain Electric prefers the big money clients. There are many more competitively priced and equally qualified professional Electricians to chose from at HomeStars. Steve Oshawa

Company Response

Thank you for your candid review Steve, although I have to say that we are a bit surprised at your post.

*** Our notes indicate that our electrician Kevin was on site on January 9th, and was there for over 1.5 hours with you, answering your questions and explaining every aspect of the work involved and working out a plan of how to best approach your renovation. He also provided you with multiple options. You indicated to our electrician that you were happy that we stand behind our work and written guarantees.

*** Many of our clients know and appreciate that our Electricians are a valuable resource of knowledge, expertise and skill, and are able to provide important information at the planning stages, early in the process. Like most professionals, we do therefore have a fee to attend site for consultation services. The fee that you paid to have a certified professional provide the services that we did, is more than fair. This was explained, and agreed upon by you at the initial contact with our office.

*** 2018 is our 26th year in business. Our company history is explained on our website. After decades of service in our community, we have found that our customers prefer On-Time Service, Written Guarantees, and Upfront Pricing. They also appreciate that all our people are employees (never sub-contractors), and that the people we send to their home or business are Certified, Uniformed, Background Checked, Clean, Drug-Free, and Professional Electricians. The Safety, Comfort, and Security of our clients is our concern.

*** As for a lower price on the work, one can always find a lower price. We would however question whether the scope of work was identical to what we quoted, and to the same specification. Are we truly comparing apples to apples?

*** I wanted to address the statement where you said “Captain Electric prefers the big money clients.” This is very untrue. We have a reputation of helping our clients with even very small problems, and also of solving very difficult problems that other electricians will not touch. We serve our clients first, without discrimination.

*** We are happy to live in a Country where varying views can be expressed freely and openly without reprisals, and where we all have a choice. Thank you for your perspective and review of our services. We wish you all the best. bw

100A Fuse Panel replaced with Top of the line split circuit breaker panel with surge protection. Kitchen renovation required to be brought up to code. After 4 other quotes Brian from Volt Master promptly arrived and was able to identify things the other firms did not notice. The house is 50 years old and Brian was fearless and professional the whole time. Brian arranged with the local power authority and coordinated a very smooth transition of power on a February day. In a very short time the Panel was in and the power back on, wow! With Brian I knew exactly when he would start work and how long and what to expect. Brian and his team communicated all issues with resolutions and at no extra cost. The certifications from the ESA came promptly after Brian filed. Hire Brian and VoltMaster with confidence and relax.
