3/10

My furnace broke down in December on a Friday night. I called them because I had used them the previous winter for service and that had been OK. A technician came and replaced the venting? motor but the furnace kept failing, no heat coming upstairs. After 5 visits from their very nice technicians I was told they had it running but that I had 1 parts per million of CO2 in the air, and I was told by the "office manager" two of them would have to come out and confirm the reading and they were required by law to "red tag" my furnace. (This meant that in 90 days Enbridge would cut me off it was explained to me later by an aggressive and irate staff member). The furnace failed again. I did not choose to deal with them after that because I felt they were just trying to sell me a new furnace and not being truthful. i.e. we can't fix this without charging you lots more money - we recommend you buy a new furnace. I felt they used scare tactics to try to get me to buy a new furnace from them. I also had to sign up for their service contract and they will be dinging my Visa for $10 a month for a year. The next guys I had come out said there was no CO2 at all and they fixed my furnace. I have not heard from Enbridge yet about my red tagged furnace, presumably you can survive carbon monoxide in the air for 90 days. All in all a stressful experience.
